Chapter 10

Two days had gone by and nothing interesting happened though he now had a schedule it was the same thing as always.

he'd wake up, and meet the woman.

(He took note of the fact he was the only one who still had a person coming to his room)

He'd then go to a class where Nick was teaching about magic circuitry or items, practice with Nick see the magic teacher, and learn then Go to the alchemy, then afterward, entertain himself with whatever they had, he had found a library though many books were restricted and something like a radio then train more and sleep.

Both his magic teacher and Nick didn't want him to talk about his massive progress in the tutoring and he found out many things for instance he learned that most people had to make drastic movements to move mana and magic while he could do minimal movements for it and it would still work

on the third day some things changed the alchemy class he had to stay after to check if he had any talent for that and lo and behold he did have a mild talent for alchemy by analyzing a healing Potion and figuring out how to make one with the ingredients in the room 'Wow who would have guessed?' He thought glumly then forced himself to be excited "I can't believe it that's cool so what is it," he asked "That means you will be able to potions and at that skill, high-grade ones at that," she said absolutely ecstatic

'My fucking god if she says that I can't tell anyone I will bash someone's head out'

"That's great do I have to do anything," he asked her "No of course not maybe tutoring"

She looked at his face and saw his dead eyes "But maybe later on since your level is really low and you have to get stronger since sometimes even using low-grade alchemy can cause minor poison effects" she said warning him "Cool." he said thinking about his immunity "This is great!" she said "Do I have to tell anyone? Max asks "No," she says "Not unless you want to tell anyone though I may have to tell the other instructors, " she said and Max's face lit up "Awesome," he said shortly after left and continued with his day till they had an extra lesson by Nick

"Today we will be talking about something important extremely important" he stopped to build up dramatic effect "The gods you will visit an area of this temple called the hallway of gods and we will see if any God claims you each god has different effects but it is good to build up a relationship with a god or gods though it is best to stick to one god to show loyalty and respect there are altars, praying will help you gather the affections of gods along with making sacrifices" he stopped and looked at them "do not kill things for most of the gods they might like fruit or items related to them." he went on to talk about the gods and what they each do and how to pray

And they went to the hall which was pretty far and gave Max time to think about the size of the place

They arrived and walked in, there were many giant stone statues in various positions and each had a plate with their name and history each student went to a stature of a god they wanted to worship and Max walked around till he saw one he was interested in the goddess of purity charity and a minor god of light he loved it and so he chose her and started to pray of course he knew that it usually takes many times for a person to pray before a god takes them in so he wasn't surprised when he was ignored but was a bit hurt when he noticed over half of the people were accepted and Nick walked over to him "You know its not your fault it's your name" He said gently to Max patting him in the shoulder. "What do you mean?" Max asked

"your name," Nick breathed in "It's also the name of the god of chaos and evil Max not only that you have red eyes" "Is he still around? you didn't mention him Max points out. "He was defeated a long time ago by a group of gods and the martial art god Grail but that's another story I'll tell you later maybe next class." With that Max was a bit disheartened but he steadied himself and decided he was going to gain the approval of that god no matter what.

After that, they walked back to the main area near the dining hall and were told they could visit the Hall of the Gods as much as they'd like as long as they showed respect. Max then took another lesson with Nick

This time Nick was much slower in starting "Hey can I check something" he asked. Max lowered his guard "What" he asked " For variants, I want to see if you have electricity"

"What" Max repeated "Electric or lightning It's a variant and it's useful for getting up faster and I can check by analyzing you." Nick said "Okay," Max said and put down his hands and allowed it. Nick focused on him and got the results "It seems you do have a low affinity to it, great" he said "And why is that?" Max questioned "Because it can be used for something but I'll show you later" and they continued sparring and training. he followed the rest of the day the same until night

Max was resting peacefully on his bed with the lights off dreaming of his life before

Max still slept when a man approached him and walked forward to his side the small amount of light from the bathroom illuminated his face and showed, that it was Nick and he had something in his hand

As he walked closer he thought 'This is for your own good' and revealed a black arrowhead and lightly placed it on Max's head it melded into his head and then covered itself so it was invisible and then Nick left.

The next day Max woke up the same and before he left he decided something ' I'm going to try.' and he pumped himself up to do everything with more energy

During nicks class, he explained that the proper name for World B was the Innerlayer and the one they were at was called the Outerlayer and went on to explain how competitiveness from where he came from allowed many people from where he came from, have poison in their saliva

And during training, he tried his best over and over again and was interested when Nick mentioned that he was eventually going to have one of his Old students or a gaudy fight Max to understand how we'll he does

For the class, it was mentioned that they were going to a dungeon in around two days and how to get prepared

The next day Nick was talking more about the abilities Inspect and Identify and how to use them as he mentioned "These two spells were made by otherworlders and for some reason only they can use them so I'll

teach them to basically look at something and think "identify" or "inspect" along with a few magic words and it'll do it of course first you'll need to use the I can't to get the hang of it but after one or two tries it should be easy enough okay " he then tossed them a golden ring and then showed them how to use the spells and then went on to camp craft and mentioned how empty monster cores can be used kind of like plastics when heated can be molded

Running

Korvonski slowly crept into the classroom during the morning lesson and announced loudly "Today we are going to go outside for some running but remember even though your bodies have adjusted I might be a bit warm" he said happily, smiling

Nick filled them in "It's hot as hell out there, like boiling but they don't notice or feel it, drink lots of water." He said though a bit unconcerned since he knew dehydration was not a concern since healing magic and water manipulation were simple And Korvonski guided them outside to a nice plain grass field mostly flat except for a few mounds and rolls. Max thought nothing of it and thought it funny seeing how the temperature was only a bit above average and they started running Korvonski at the head guiding them

Max jogged and was a few steps behind them all. He heard them gasping for breath on the sunny afternoon drenched in sweat and complaining while being swarmed by insects "Why are none of the bugs attacking you?" Jack asked and Max smiled "I don't know " he answered enthusiastically. And smelled himself "I don't have as much of a scent so maybe they are attracted to you guys, more?" He put his hands out awkwardly as they swatted the bugs coming at their eyes "Oh come on!" they said as they ran further after five minutes Max realized what Nick meant "I'm oh gods it's so hot" he muttered narrating what he felt mumbling aimlessly 'god it's so hot it like a 101 degrees dude when will this end?' He thought, slighted diluted he barely noticed Korvonski slowing down because he noticed the student getting fired and lightly jogged them to a tree where he sat on a cold rock under the shade waiting as the student stumbled and tripped their way to him and he gave them water and for the more tired small pieces of bread it reminded Max of a person feeding birds and he laughed internally 'where has my life gone?' He questioned ignoring the feeling of meaninglessness in his mind.

All the students sat catching their breath except for Alex and twelve … they stood and that's when Max noticed something so obvious 'Did he do that in his armor? Max looked at Korvonski he was in his light armor. Max was curious so he claimed his breath and focused, listening 'My god.' He thought observing Korvonski 'He was not even out of breath just a little unsteady. he's not even sweating much.' Of course, Korvonski was pretty chill he usually jogged twenty miles every once in a while Max started his helmet trying to see his face thinking that his breath sounds like a pretty person's and then they continued Ed to run, and then rest

The next day was mainly focused on camp craft and how to put on leather gear correctly how to use spells more for offensive and being told of the guards that would protect them

On the day of the dungeon, Max got up early panicked, and ate light so he wouldn't get sick

They took a carriage to the dungeon which was really just a small cave and they slowly walked in and met their opponents... Rabbits, well rabbit-like creatures. They were and had fangs along with a dull horn on their head along with a small amount of magic used to bounce.

Max walked up and looked at one and thought ' This creature could potentially be dangerous. ' he looked back "Are we supposed to kill these" he asked and got a nod in reply and looked around to see if any would kill before him and a rabbit bumped into one of the girls scaring them and he sighed 'am I really supposed to kill these?' he thought and looked over at one of them being decapitated and that confirmed it. he watched them all.

John was a bit squeamish at first but then got calm and struck one with his scythe killing it as the tip pierced its chest, John lost his balance, fell to his knees, and vomited on the ground.

Max rushed over to see if he was okay and a guard was already there checking him "he's fine it's either killing or something is up with his mana" he said after looking at him "I'll take him outside" he said and then guided John there rest

Max then killed a few rabbits he was a bit sorry but then one hit him then tried to bite his leg so he killed 7 of of them and then they went outside to practice camp crafts

They arrived back at the classroom and Nick asked "How was your hunt?", They informed him of the expedition and they went on their day a bit more tired than usual though having had that taken up at least 4 of their day.

They then went on to learn more and at the end of their day went to see their instructors.

Max thought about his classmates 'so Alex and some of the others are being taught by that wolf guy I'm being taught by Nick and the others also have someone' he refocused on his training and continued to spar and learn more moves
