Chapter 4
I stood frozen in my place for a few seconds before a wide smile spread across my face. I couldn't be happier, my brother has found his mate, and what's better, his mate is my best friend. Thank you Moon Goddess for granting my wish, I wanted nothing more than this for my brother, I have seen him sad every time he saw a pack member showing affection to their mate hoping he could be the one to do it. I know that feeling because I long for mine, nothing could have been better than this because if my brother had found his mate, then it meant, I could go search for mine. I won't be an acting Luna any more, the thought alone brought a wave of happiness and excitement in me. I looked at the two new mates as they looked at each other lovingly, I could see they are doing their best to control themselves and I am really glad that they are not eating each other's faces already blaming it on the bond like I have seen some wolves do, I cleared my throat to grab their attention.
"Congratulation" I wished them cheerfully unable to hold the smile off my face
"Thank you" Li whispered softly and I chuckled at how she was acting so shy suddenly
"Why are you so shy all of a sudden?" I asked tauntingly
"If I remember correctly, you were shamelessly accepting your crush on my brother while you searched the entire back yard looking for him" I added with a smirk and her face flushed, she tried her best to control herself and sent glare my way
"You weren't supposed to say that" she said gritting her teeth, my brother, on the other hand, had a proud smile on his face knowing his mate already liked him as he looked at her in awe
"You never said I can't tell him" I replied rolling my eyes and she groaned in response
"You know what will happen now, don't you?" I asked looking at both my brother and my best friend, Fabian still had a firm hold on Li, it looked like as if he was afraid to let her go
"What?" Li asked confused and I sighed
"He found you just before the ceremony so you will be announced as his mate and Luna during his ceremony. If you don't want to get marked publicly, I suggest, both of you sneak out while you can and mark each other before the ceremony starts" I explained, Li's eyes widened as she looked at me in disbelief
"Already?" she asked and I chuckled a little
"It's a tradition remember, one that I love the most" I replied with a smile
"I don't want to get marked in front of them" Li whisper yelled making both Fabian and I chuckle
"That is why Violet is exactly right" I heard aunt Angela's voice and turned to see her smiling at us
"Congratulations my baby" she wished Li with a wide smile as she hugged her kissing her forehead lovingly
"Congratulation boy" she wished my brother next who smiled and hugged her
"Thank you Angela" Fabian replied with a smile
"Congratulations are in order" I heard my father's loving voice, the only difference is, he has lost his original strength to his voice, he looked older than his age, mom's death had taken a toll on him, but he never let that stop him from taking care of us
"Thank you dad" my brother replied warmly
"I must say, Grayson, your daughter is not only beautiful, but she is also very smart, she can resolve problems very quickly. She has this ability to think on her feet, I am sure she will make a great Luna" she said with a smile my way, I wasn't sure how to respond to that, I don't know if my mate was an Alpha, but either way, I will happy as long as he is a kind person and accepts me as his mate
"I am sure she will" dad replied with a smile
"Melissa, Fabian, you must go, mark each other quickly and come back, remember we are waiting for you" Aunt Angela ordered, no one could resist her order, they immediately nodded in agreement
"Sure mom" Li responded
"Take care of her or you will have to deal with me, and don't do anything I wouldn't" I said the first part of my statement firmly before winking at the last part, everyone around me chuckled except Li, her face turned red as she kept giving me death glares, making me laugh at her
"Go or else you will be late" I taunted wiggling my eyebrows, I enjoyed pissing her off because she enjoyed to do the same with me, and it's only a few chances we get to taunt each other and I was not going to let the opportunity slip
We saw Li and Fabian make their way inside the packhouse, they were stopped a couple of times as pack members and guests stopped them to congratulate them. I was right, the entire crowd had heard my brother's growl, I mean, I can't blame him, he would want to stake his claim on his mate in front of everyone, so no one could try to take her away from him. Besides, Alpha's are known for their possessiveness, judging from Li's smile she liked my brother's claim and possessiveness.
I watched them both with a smile till they disappeared from my sight, I was really happy for them, I just pray and wish, our Moon Goddess bless has blessed me with a mate too. I smiled at the thought once again, we spend time talking to each other, meeting and greeting the guests while we waited for Li and Fabian to come back. I saw aunt Angela sitting at a table, she looked like she was thinking about something, she looked sad too, it pained my heart to look at her like that so I walked to her sitting beside her.
"Are you okay?" I asked her, my concern for her evident in my voice
"I am fine my child" she replied with a smile
"What are you thinking?" I asked curiously
"I am sorry, only if it is not too much to add" I quickly added, she rolled her eyes at my words
"We are family, there is nothing too much to ask" she replied firmly and I nodded my head in understanding hastily
"I just missed Vincent and Melissa's father a lot, he would have been the most happiest person if he was alive" she said sadly
"I am sure he is currently looking down at Li happily and blessing her and Fabian" I replied with a smile on my face
"I am sure he is" she added with a smile of her own
"I just hope Vincent could make it to the ceremony, he was called for a meeting with the council urgently" she said with a sad smile
"I am sure, he will still be happy when he finds out, we can have a small celebratory family dinner once he is available" I told her honestly, I just hope she feels better with this idea
"It's a great idea, I think I will talk to him when we reach home and then let you know about it" she replied with a smile on her face making me nod
"That would be great, and I assure you, you don't have to worry about Li. Fabian will always love and protect her, I will be the first one to beat his ass if he hurts her" I assured her
"God bless you, my child, I have no worry about my daughter, I know she will be happy here" she replied with a smile and I nodded my head in agreement
Just before I could say anything Fabian and Li walked out of the packhouse, Li's face still looked a little flushed, but my brother had a proud smile on his face. I think I have teased the poor girl enough for a day, so I let it slide, I could see my dad smile at the couple as they walked to us. He nodded his head motioning that it's time for the ceremony, dad was the first one to get on the stage. He welcomed and thank all pack members and guests for attending the ceremony, he had a huge smile on his face when he proudly announced that he was now retiring giving away the responsibilities to his son.
Happy cheers erupted around us and we smiled in satisfaction, he then announced that our to be Alpha has found his true mate which caused another rush of happiness to flow through the crowd. Dad looked very happy for the first time in a while, the Alpha and Luna ceremony was officiated respectively by my dad. As soon as the ceremony was over and our new Alpha and Luna couple was announced a loud set of cheers erupted through the pack members as we felt the power shift from dad to Fabian. Soon everyone had shifted in their wolves as we went on a run together for a hunt, the run ended with our new Alpha howling at the moon as the moonlight shined through him. Soon all of us were back in the back yard, we enjoyed the rest of evening as we spent time with our family and pack enjoying ourselves.
