IT was in his eyes. I saw right through it even though I don’t really know him. The last two times I have met Alpha Thomas, I knew we were on the same side. Today, it ran differently.

His eyes were piercing black, his rugged face framed by a beard. He wore a scowl so tight, I thought it would rip his face.

“At first, I was insulted that my own cousin would dare question my loyalty to our family. But then realization dawned on me. We're both leaders of our packs; we're Alphas."

Connor remained silent, waiting for Thomas to continue speaking. We were in a clearing in the forest. I know Luke and some other warrior wolves were just nearby the area, waiting if anything gets out of hand.

“Where’s Herman Black?” Thomas asked.

“He’s a prisoner of Dark Mountains,” my mate answered.

“You can’t keep him here. He didn’t do anything wrong. I’ll have to take him with me.”
