fifteen

I sat in an empty, dark cave in wolf form. I've been in here for at least two hours now, alone. I masked my scent so that Asher couldn't track me down easily. I knew eventually he'd find me, no alpha would let their mate leave them so easily.

But then again, would he? Our argument is all I've been thinking about since I ran away. From my knowledge of Asher's past it's difficult to figure out if his feelings for me were genuine or not.

My wolf huffed out a loud breath in frustration. I know that this argument between Asher and I only pushed her and her mate further away from each other. I sent a mind message to her, apologizing for my petty human feelings.

She forgave Asher quite quick after being too far from him during our heat. But I'm not like her,

I hold grudges.

I forced myself up and shook my fur out. I wanted to go on a run before returning back to him. As much as I wanted him to suffer for what he said, I have to get back to him before my heat comes back and the rogues find me.

Making my way out the cave I admired the scenery. It wasn't like anything I've ever seen before. Not in my old pack nor Ashers.

I ran around the trees, played in the lakes and finally made my way to a dandelion field, it looked awfully familiar. I sat down on the flowers and listened closely to the air that flowed around me.

A stick snapped somewhere in the forest. I shot up and immediately got into a defensive stance, growling and snarling.

Three wolves stepped from out of the woods. They looked unfamiliar but they weren't rogues, probably pack-warriors.

The one standing in the middle shifted into human form, completely naked, and walked up to me. He growled and said, "shift."

I took a step backwards and growled back.

The man scoffed, "shift or we'll kill you right where you stand then take you to our alpha."

Then it hit me, I was on pack land. This is the exact same place I talked to Alpha Carter after I found out my brother was joining up with Isabel and my mate was sleeping was other women.

Chills went down my spine at the thought of it.

"Shift!" He yelled at me.

I took a step back, shifted and covered as much of my body as I couldn't.

The man stepped closer and cleared his throat before speaking. "You've intruded on the land of Alpha Carter Briggs. You'll be taken to him and he will choose your fate. If you decide to fight us, we will choose your fate and it will not be a kind one. Come on."

I decided to not even try to fight them. My body was already weakened from my heat and not being around my mate so there's no way I could take on three male pack-warriors.

After a few minutes of walking we reached Carter's pack house. God, I hoped I didn't see Joseph here. After everything that has happened since I've seen him Joseph would never let me see Asher again.

We reached Carter's office and they opened the door, pushing me in and slamming the door behind us.

Carter's eyes widened when he saw me, "Maddie?" they opened even wider when he saw me naked, "naked.. wow.. oh!" He quickly ran over to me and slipped his tux jacket on me.

"Thanks." I mumbled and scratched the back of my neck. Carter sent the warriors out and closed the door behind them.

He cleared his throat and took a deep breath. "Are you okay? We're they too rough with you?"

I shook my head and looked down at my feet. "No I'm fine. It's all good."

"Nice.." he trailed off and we stood in awkward silence for who knows how long.

"Look, Madison, I'm sorry for what I did last time we saw each other. I should've never kissed you without your permission, especially when you're mated."

"It's fine Carter. No hard feelings." I shook my head and gave him a weak smile. He nodded and his eyes scanned my entire, nude body that was only covered by the small jacket.

He eyes landed on Asher's mark and I could sense the sadness coming off him in waves. "You've been marked."

"Yeah.. after Asher saw me with you he marked me out of anger.." my mind trailed back to that day.

Carter's eyebrows furrowed and he squeezed his fist together in anger. "I'll fucking kill him."

I placed my hand on his chest and felt weird sparks.. like the ones I got when I first met Asher. I shook the feeling away and pushed him back a little.

"It has already been forgiven and forgotten, don't worry about it," i clenched my stomach in pain, "I have to get back to Asher.."

"Maddie? What's wrong? Are you sure you aren't hurt?" he worriedly asked me. Only a second after that I could tell that he could smell the heat on me. He took slow, cautious steps backwards.

I took slow deep breaths trying to suppress my heat. "It's my heat. I've gotta get back to him I can't keep doing this."

Carter ran his fingers down his face while taking deep breaths trying to control himself. When around a female in heat, barely any unmated males can hold themselves back from mating with her.

The smell drives them crazy.

When he looked back up at me his eyes were dark and his pupils were dilated.

I stepped back from him. I cannot give in to a man who wasn't my mate. I promised I'd keep my virginity for my mate.

He made his way toward me while I shut my eyes hoping that this would be a dream and I'd wake up In Asher's arms. As soon as I felt Carter's lips on my neck I knew this was a reality I couldn't get out of.

His warm hands wrapped around my waist and pulled me in closer.

"Carter.. I can't.. we can't." I breathlessly mutter as he continued leaving kisses on my neck.

He growled in my ear, "he did it to you. This is only payback Madison.." Carter seductively whispered.

He was right, Asher slept with many other girls! No.. this isn't right. To my surprise, my wolf didn't fight against this decision. In fact, she was quiet and didn't care about the fact that I was gonna cheat on my mate.

"But.." I started before he placed his hand over my mouth and smirking at me. "Shut up and enjoy this Madison." I nodded my head, blinded by my heat and horniness and surrendered to him.
