Chapter 13: Feeling Dislike

EMAL'S POV

The sound of door opening startles me and I jolt up from my laying position quickly. Hold and behold, it is the Alpha King, my father. I never expect him to be in my room at such late night but I didn't say a word or show any expression. I dare not! Slowly, I try standing up despite the pain my knees.

"Welcome father, I greet him politely, looking down at the floor to avoid eye contact with him. He looks at me for a while before telling me to sit and I obey. Well, it's not like I have the strength to stand for long anyway.

With his hands behind him, he walks closer to me. I could notice the fact that he's trying to pick up nice words to prevent me from getting angry, but I can see through him so well. He doesn't have to pretend like he's a good father of some sort.

"How are you doing?" He stretches his hand to my face, rubbing my bruises with his thumb gently.

"Can you just say whatever you have to say and leave? How the hell do you want to know how I'm doing?" My subconsciousness screams.

"I'm doing fine, father." I finally reply after battling with my inner rebelling mind.

"What happened last night?" He asks, staring intently at my eyes as if searching for the answers in them.

"I went out to get some fresh air and forgot that time is far spent."

"Is that enough reason to justify staying out for the whole night?" There he goes, I'm so sure his rants would begin soon.

"I'm sorry father, it just happened."

"And it shouldn't repeat itself again. You're the next Alpha King of the several clans and beings in Alacia, how will you rule them if you're this reckless?" He begins, like I knew it.

"I'm sorry, father." I repeat, trying to get him to finish his speech and leave me in peace.

"Sorry won't solve anything." He fires at my person.

"Then what should I do? It's not like I asked you to make me the Alpha King." I spat out with sheer anger.

He raises his hand to hit me, but stops midway. I smirk slightly without him noticing as he heaves a sigh trying to calm himself.

"That aside, what transpired between you and the Luna?" He finally asks the question he has been holding up in himself for a while.

"Nothing much, father. I annoyed her and she punished me as directed."

"What do you mean? As directed by who? What was your offence?"

Did he have to be so pretentious? I can't stop wondering what is going on in his mind at that moment. He could have just told me that I need to be punished, why pretending to be the nice one?

"If I deserve to be punished, isn't it the stated in the pack rules that the Luna can carry it out? That's what I mean."

"And that's not the question I asked you."

Before I could open my mouth to say anything, he becomes withdrawn. Someone was communicating with him. A minute later, he places a palm on my shoulder.

"Try to behave yourself next time, starting from tomorrow, you're to attend the pack school after you finish at the kingdom school."

"What?"

"You heard me right." He is out of the room the next minute.

Holy crap! Why do I have to attend the pack academy? It's going to be nothing but pure torment for me since I have no powers yet. I'll only be sent into the abyss of tormenting emotion if I try going there. What the hell is father thinking?

I stand up after thirty minutes of thinking without getting a hint of hope for better things to happen. I need to go speak to the Alpha about the order he gave me. He will be sending me to my grave if he really meant his words. Thankfully, the pain reliever I used earlier made my body pain subside. It worked like magic.

The castle is far so silent already as the night gets deeper in its approach. Silently, I tiptoe to father's room and peeped through a hole I dug in his wall ever since I was a kid.

I peep into his room, and seeing the lights still on, it can only mean he is still awake. That's beneficial for me, anyway. Closing the hole back with the design I made over it, I open his door without a creaking sound. Before my legs makes their way inside the enclosure of the room, my ears caught on a faint sound. very faint! It is the breath of another being in the room. Someone else is with him. Having snuck into the Alpha's room several times as a kid, I have been accustomed to his breath rhythm and sound that I can tell his apart from other werewolves in the pack.

Who could be speaking with dad so late? I am curious. I crane my neck a bit farther inside the magnificent room until I caught sight of the person. The person's back is turned to me and I don't know who it could be.

"I'm at your service, Alpha." the person utters and immediately, I recognize the voice's owner. Blake!

Could I have heard wrong? What could Blake be looking for the Alpha so late at night? Could he be sent on an errand? My curiosity gets the best part of me and I concentrate my hearing on their conversation.

"How is he? Any improvement?" The Alpha asks.

"I'm sorry Alpha, there's none. He doesn't react no matter how much I bully him or annoy him."

"So, what do you think we should do?"

"I suggest we let him alone for a while, perhaps he feels he would account for reacting."

"He had better improve." Says father.

Who are they talking about? I want to know and I continue listening in on them.

"But today is quite strange." Blake says.

"What happened?"

"He isn't in school. I mean, he skipped classes by sneaking out after the first class."

"I already heard that, the school principal reported him already."

‘What? They're talking about me. What is the connection between Blake's bullying me and dad?’

"Not only that, he left school with a girl and from the look of things, it seems he spent the day with her. However, I don't know where or how"

"Really? Who is this girl we are talking about?" Father sounds nervous.

"I don't know much about her, she's a new one. But she doesn't seem to be a wolf "

"What? Are you sure?"

"Not so sure Alpha. I'm investigating her for now. "

"That's good, make sure you keep an eye on him and try your best to get him ........"

My heart shatters into several pieces as I heard the conversation. The person I thought of to be my bully turns out to be my sent by my father. The person I get injured by is my father's underling. The person I am always scared of has the permission of my father. No wonder the school principal never punished him and here I was, thinking it's because of his royal identity.

My tears knew no limit as I return to my room. How could father do this to me? What exactly is my offence? No one in the family likes me, why are they keeping me and torturing me silently? I can't take it anymore, I just can't. The kind of betrayal I witnessed in two consecutive days is just too much for my fickle mind to contain. I scream out

loud due to my rate of frustration.

"I hate you all." I yell into my bed.
