Chapter 22 A new friend

(A new friend)

     Laila's POV

Early in the morning, I do my usual routine, this is my second week of work.I went out for a jog and the gym,  I also used the opportunity to tour the streets, I love my new life now and I remembered I promised Sapphire that I won't go back again. I sighed recalling the past, how could I go back to him when I disgust him, of course not, I can't spend the rest of my life in a boring Palace with a man who never showed me any affection. I saw some group of school girls walking to school while chatting and laughing. It made me recalled those days, when flake, Amore and Angel were still with me. Those times we could walk to school on foot without a care in the world, but now, life is something else... There are so many things to care about. I sighed and entered the gym. After the gym, I decided to head back so I could be early to work.

    When I head home, the smell of fried eggs and potatoes were strong in the air, I smiled and back hugged Maria.

"Mmm... This looks delicious," I said and she smiled

"Yeah, we all are great cooks you know, now hurry up or you'll be late for work." She said

"Oh fuck it, you sound like my mum." I said pouting

"Hmm... Reminding you to prepare for school huh?" She asked and I just smiled and nodded

"Hey Cherie, that uniform of yours is tight now, you should buy another." Maria reprimanded

"Oh come on, who would be looking at a thin nurse like me." Cherie blurted and we all laughed

"Thin nurse? Really? Well this thin nurse seems to be getting fat, so sew another one." Maria commanded

"Okay boss" Cherie said and I giggled

    After my breakfast, I dressed up in my gown suit. I added a little makeup to my face and then slip on my high heels sandals. I headed for the exit as I collected some lunch as usual.

"You seem dull today." Sapphire said and I nodded

"Oh... You're no longer the merry and joyful Laila I know." Sne remarked

"Sapphire please let's just go to work okay?" I stated not wanting to remember anything from the past. My phone beeped and it was Nina, I smiled as Sapphire jumped happily

"Good day big sis, I missed you, so do blake too, I had a teacher that looks like you, when will you come back? I wanna come with you... I've been studying hard so I could get a college around there. Blake's brought a saucy girl and he said he loved her and wants to marry her....."

Nina said and I laughed, Nina was always a bad mouth since her childhood. I wiped the tears that wanted to fall and brighten up my mood. I called my cab man to take me to work. I was feeling excited now that Nina said she wanted to come with me, but I must tell her that I'm staying at San Francisco now. I arrived at work, I was always early to work. That one's for sure.

   "Good morning Mrs Helms." I greeted and she smiled.

"Morning beautiful, how was your night?" She inquired

"Fine." I replied and sat on my desk.

"You know, I've been thinking of making you the production designer, I already employed an interior designer... She will use the desk beside you and I hope you'd be good to her." Mrs Helms said and I smiled

"No problem miss Helms." I stated

"You're talented in designs and our company might just grow if you continue working with us you know?" She said and I smiled at her

Soon, the girl entered the office and she smelt wolf, though she tried to hide her scent. Sapphire was a bit happy, the girl was a dark beauty

"Hello there, I'm Laila and you are?" I introduced myself

"I'm Charlotte but you can call me Charlie," I smiled at her, she looks nervous like I was some kind of celebrity or something

"You..you are really beautiful miss, like a queen?" I understood what she was trying to say as I shook my head

"No I'm not. You're a werewolf right?" I asked her and she nodded

"I'm from the Giant moon pack." She replied and I smiled at her, she looks younger, like 21.

"You're welcome dear." I said and she nodded shyly.

    I and Charlotte moved along well, she became one of my closest friend and she taught me somethings I didn't know about werewolves. Work was going smoothly, I discovered her pack was not far from our house but still, I didn't want to visit so it don't seems like I'm invading their pack.

"So.. My best food is sauced veggies and rice and a chilled drink. I don't like juice, I drink alcoholic wine. I love to party and I love having fun." Charlotte stated and I laughed

"You're no good kitty, just adorable in the face huh?" I said and we both laughed

"So what's the name of your pack?" She asked and my face dropped

"Oh, sorry... I.." She started apologizing and I shook my head

"No it's okay, we're friends now and you should know though. I didn't know my biological father's Pack, but I know my..... Former pack, it's the  Moonlight Pack." I stated and she gasped in shock

"The moonlight pack? The biggest and most dreadful pack in all of America... I fell for their Alpha last two years I saw him. He's so hot and so body built. He is so handsome isn't he?" She demanded and it felt funny though but I was jealous

"Yeah he is." I said and she giggled

"He's cold and merciless, and his pack are the most populated, I never heard that he dates young ladies only matured women with big boobs and butts and I also heard that he likes blonde haired you know like billu his only girlfriend." She said and I felt my anger rised but I was still interested in what she was saying and she finds it enthusiastic.

"So... What about your Alpha, you know, your Alpha?" I asked and she smiled and blushed

"Alpha James? Well he's cute though and a bit hard hearted, he haven't found a Luna yet and his parents died when he was 18." She said with admiration in her eyes

"You like him, don't you?" I asked

"Not him, his brother, Brian, he is my mate." She said and I smiled

"Wow... You've found your mate?" I asked happily, she never did mentioned anything about her mate to me and I was glad she's found hers

"Yeah, last month, when Brian returned from japan,  he's having his masters there you know... We discovered we were mates and he promised to come back for me next year. Believe me, he's cute and every girl in our pack is dying to have him. I'm just lucky." Charlotte replied proudly and I smiled at her, she really loves him, then I sighed.

"Let's head back to work." I said and she stood up and followed me to the office. We started work immediately and I discovered so many companies liked the new designs and are patronizing us, I know Mrs Helms will be proud this was my 4th day of work as a production designer yet our website is already getting up to 5000 purchases, I smiled at my handwork. Though a part of me wanted to return to moonlight industry but I already swear not to cross the boarders of the streets... Just recalling how he started strangling me proved that he truly hates me because a mate will feel the pain he or she was giving the other and yet he strangled me until Sapphire took over, I was really disappointed and sad...
