“Did you eat at all today?”

“I haven’t been able to eat since I got that call from Tim last Thursday.”

“No wonder you slept so long. What time do you have to be at the studio on Wednesday?”

“Nine o’clock, but they said not to worry about bringing clothes or anything, just my cello.” Then I had another thought. “I thought I was going to make love to you. Did I?”

Car broke out laughing. “Sweetie, you were out like a light before I finished making love to you.

“I must have been really tired. Can I make love to you now?”

“Can you?”

“May I?”

“Are you able to?”

“Of course. I must have been drugged before. I’ve never not been able to make love to you.”

“Yes. I did think it was strange.”

“But if I make love to you, I’ll probably have to stay the night. But, seeing it was my idea, you wouldn’t have to pay for it.”

“You’d fuck me for free?”

“Yup. With pleasure.”

“I couldn’t turn that down.”

“No, you couldn’t.” I stood up and reached for her hand.
