Chapter 5 - Royal Capital: Ulbury

I still can't get over looking on the weapon Calliope gave to me. I am really grateful that she helped us trained and enhance a little bit of our skills and power. She always told us to practice and cultivate our mana core. As we have been discussing now, we will set a name that we will be using once we enter the guild.

"I want to be a mysterious one, so once we arrived at the capital you can only call me by my adventurers name, Calypso or you can address me as your older sister. I trust you to not reveal my identity to anyone." Calliope said.

"Then it will be good if we used an adventurer's name too Kezef, to match with sis. Hmmm, I'll used Scythe as my adventurer's name. How about you Kezef?" I told them.

"You really love the weapon sis gave to you?" Kezef said in a teasing tone.

"Of course! I will treasure this! I will use this to the best of my skills!" I happily said with a determined tone of voice.

"Then since you two have a named, I should have one too, right? I think I'll be using Jingo. By the way as we have planned before. We will be forming a party if I remembered correctly? What will be the name?" Kezef ask sis Calliope.

"We can use the party name as Agents. Then it will be best if we can finish quest with only the three of us. Let alone, fate will guide us to have another companion." Calliope said.

"I heard that some quest needs more than 5 persons to complete it. As an adventurer have a rank title, the quest day can do will be based on the rank they were in. We will be starting from the bottom of the rank, to climb up to S-Rank quest, we need to accomplished several low-rank quests." Kezef explained to Calliope.

"I am really excited to go to the Royal Capital. Do you guys already pack your things? I need to think ways on how can I hide my scythe" I blurted out.

"Do you want me to teach you how you can hide your weapon?" sis Calliope said.

"Do you have any idea? It will be best for Fria since it will be hard to travel with huge weapon." Kezef said.

"Yes, I can teach you that. Follow me outside." sis Calliope said.

We're already outside and Sis Calliope were looking something on her storage. I am curious on how I can hide my Scythe. I was lost in thought when Kezef pat my shoulder.

"Look at Sis Calliope, she's grabbing something inside her storage." Kezef said.

"Found it! .... E-ehem" Calliope said in a happy tone.

"Is that a storage stone?" I am in awe.

"I will teach you now on how to hide your weapon. But we need this stone to hide it. I got this stone and I can give this to you and Kezef if you'd like. Hold this stone Fria." Sis Calliope instructed me to come closer and hold the stone.

The stone is a rainbow color shade stone that is rarely seen in the town or even in the capital. Only a high-rank adventurer often gets this or a noble can only afford such thing. The stone can be stored just like an ornament. It can be a ring, necklace, bracelet, and earrings. I can't believe she has this stone. We truly are lucky to meet Sis Calliope.

"The purpose of your weapon and this stone is to forge them to become one. Now since you're holding the weapon and the stone on your hand. Close your eyes and imagine that your weapon and stone become one. Think of anything, it can be a wand, sword, ornaments that will represent your weapon and stone. Release little by little your mana into the stone and to the scythe you're holding." sis Calliope explained.

"I can feel it. The heat of the mana releasing on both of my hands. I can see the shape forming slowly." I said in joy.

"Focus, that's great that it progresses." Sis Calliope said

I can see now a ring forming. I will customize this to fit on my style. A ring that represents my scythe and myself. An emerald-colored gem and a silver stone holder to finish it. A little detailed design indicated on the inner ring holder. It's all done!

"Well done, Fria, you can open your eyes now." Sis Calliope said.

"What an intricate ring you made." Kezef said.

"I know right? HAHA" I said in a proud tone. I look on the ring on my hand.

I can't believe I did it! I really forge my weapon and stone into a ring. But how can I use this if this is a ring?

"Bestow a name to the ring you forge so you can transform it back to a scythe." She said as if reading what I'm thinking.

"A name? hmmm, I'll call it the same as my adventurer's name." I told them.

"Very well, now for the incantation of bestowing a name to a weapon. Declare your name and the name of the weapon." Sis Calliope.

"I Fria Neisi, bestow you the name of Scythe. A life-long partner until a death door open upon my eyes." An incantation that you can customized to deepen the bond between you and your forge weapon After I declare the name of my weapon, the ring suddenly glows and move to fit on my ring finger. A weapon-partner that accept me as it's master till death.

"You should do it too Kezef, form a contract to your weapon, bestow it with a name." Sis Calliope said.

"You can use another weapon as a decoy, you should not let enemy all your cards have. You can have this stone." Sis Calliope said and toss the stone to Kezef.

"All I need to do is the same as what Fria does a while ago, right?" Kezef ask.

"Yes, that is correct. I'll be packing a few things more. I'll live you two here, alright?" Sis Calliope said and walks back to the house.

"I'll wait for you here Kezef, until you finish forging your weapon." I told Kezef and sit on the side.

He then started concentrating forging the weapon. I look at the ring on my finger. It looks like an engagement ring when you do not much pay attention to it. I love the design I created. I'm really happy.

I can feel a hot sensation coming out on both of my hands. Is this how Fria feels when forging her weapon? It feels amazing, thinking what form I should create to fit me and my sword. Now that I think about it, maybe a necklace that has a sword pendant that looks a little too flashy so it does not pay much attention. Now then let's start creating a shape.

Little by little the forging is going well. A shape of the small swords was form and a lace. I should refine the design as well, how about a shield with a sword as a pendant? Looks good for me. Eye open my eyes and saw the final product of forging my weapon. I am in awe on how it looks. Amazing! What should I call it? Hmmmm… Ah! Ruyi.

"Are you done Kezef?" Fria asked.

"I'll need to bestow it a name then I'm done. I Kezef Saniel, bestow you a name Ruyi, my shield and sword, my life-long partner till the end of my life." I said as an incantation and it glows just like the Scythe of Fria. After the glow diminish, the necklace automatically put on my neck as if it has their own life force to move.

"I'm done Fria, let's go back and eat dinner with Sis Calliope." I guided her to come with me inside.

"Okay, I'm a little hungry as well." Fria said.

"Are you two done? Let's eat dinner and sleep early. We need to depart early in the morning." Sis Calliope said.

"I'm excited to go to the Royal Capital! I'm really looking forward to have a great adventure with sis!" Fria squeak in excitement.

"Calm down, there's a lot of things to be done before we can enjoy our time to be an adventurer." Calliope said.

"Yeah, we should focus on enhancing our skills more. At the same time earn money!" I spoke.

"HAHAHA! Yes! More money, more delicious food!" Calliope agreed.

"By the way, should we get a room that has a bathroom? It will be convenient for us to clean up easily than to go in a public bath house?" I ask them.

"Ah, right. That's a great idea Kezef. That's beneficial for us since we don't want anyone want to know our identity. I need a mask and cloak to use." Sis Calliope said.

"We can visit a store tomorrow before going to the guild to register." I suggest it to Sis Calliope.

"Yes, we need to buy extra clothes as well." Fria said.

"Alright, will discuss this again tomorrow. Let's sleep for now." Sis Calliope.

...the next day...

"Rise and shine!!!!" I hear Fria shout near my ear.

"What the hell Fria, don't shout! Do you know how annoying your voice when shouting?" I frowned but she just laughed at me. Oh geez! This brat.

"Hurry take a bath and come back so we can eat breakfast before living." Calliope said while busy cooking. She's already dressed up. How early did she wake up?

I hurriedly took a bath and come back to the house. Fria's sitting on the dining already.

"Sit down and eat your food already Kezef." Fria said while there's food in her mouth. Gross!

"Gross! Do not talk when your mouth is full of food you glutton!" I said to her.

I look at Sis Calliope and she's eating silently, then look at us. Hmmm.

"What's the problem?" She asked. I move my head left and right to say that there's no problem.

"Please finish your meal already so we can depart now. The earlier the better." She spoke.

"I'm done eating I'll just double check my things." I said and check my bag.

"Same with me! I'll check my things." Fria said

"Go ahead, I'll just create some magic barrier so that no one can enter this house while we are gone." Calliope said then went outside.

"Are you guys done?" Calliope asked.

"Yes, we're done!" We both shout in unison, Fria and me. I look at her and she has a bag on her.

"Is that all you need Fria?" I asked before heading to the door.

"Yes, I'm all set." She said and run towards to where Sis Calliope standing.

"I'll lock the door Sis." I said and lock the door.

"I also created a barrier so that no one will notice this house." She then started walking.

"Wait! Wait—Wait for me sis." Fria run until she keeps up the pace with Sis Calliope.

"How long will it take before we arrived at the capital?" Sis Calliope said.

"Walking will take us a whole day to arrive at the Royal Capital. This path has a mark of a carriage and horse footprint. If we're lucky enough, we can ask them to let us ride on their carriage and pay them." I spoke.

"Ah! As if they will let us hop on their carriage." Fria said.

We keep on walking in a fast phase so we can arrive at the as soon as possible. It will be better if we arrived earlier so we can rest and buy things we might be needed while staying at the capital. While walking at talking with Fria and Sis Calliope. We saw an old man who's sitting on the ground.

"Let's hurry, I saw an old man. Looks like he's injured." I said and run towards the old man. I immediately ask what happened to him. There's a horse lying down, looks like it's exhausted. There is carriage as well.

"Kezef, what happen to him?" Calliope stand next to me. "Hi! What happen to you?" She looked to the old man and look to the horse.

"I am going to the Royal Capital Ulbury to deliver some goods, when suddenly my horse collapsed. I tried to asked some help from those people who's going to the Capital but they did not help me. I was hopeless that I might be late for the delivery." He explained.

"What is your name?" I asked him and help him stand up.

"My name is Eddie Douma, you can call me Uncle Ed. What are your names?" He looks so helpless.

"My name is Kezef, this is Fria and that is our Sis Calypso." My answer to Uncle Ed's question.

"Fria and Kezef, help Uncle Ed to sit and relax for a while. I'll fix this carriage and help the horse for a moment." She said and walk.

"Can she really fix it? I'll pay you when we arrived at the capital if you help me." Uncle Ed said.

"No need for payment. Just sit down and don't stress yourself." Fria and I said so he can relax. He's too old to travel alone. It's a pity, I remembered Mom and Dad at home.

"Kezef, Sis can use a healing magic? Wow! So amazing. The carriage is already fixed." Fria said in amazement.

I saw that the horse can stand up already and ready to travel again. Calliope walked towards our direction.

"The horse is all healed and ready to travel again, I also fix the wheels on your carriage. Once you're feeling well you can go." She said to Uncle Ed. "It's already lunch time, let's eat before we walked towards to Capital again." She said and sat under the tree.

"Join me on my way going to the capital as a payment." Uncle Ed insist.

"Lucky! Thank you, Uncle Ed." Fria said

"You can eat on the way; it is better to travel now since I'm in a tight condition. I need to deliver the goods to Viscount Tarravia, we have an agreement to deliver the goods on time since they will transport this to the Royal Palace." Uncle Ed explain.

He also told us that the emperor decided to let the prince go to the Capital to gain and learn how and what are the things his people doing.

"Oh, I also have a son who works as an adventurer. Do you guys want to meet my son? I'll invite you to a dinner when I'm finished delivering these goods. He's a good kid, same aged as you are now. Let's meet at the Merchants Guild by 6 in the evening so we can have a dinner together." Uncle Ed said.

"Sis! Kezef, look! I can see the entrance gate to the Royal Capital!" Fria said like a child.

"Ahm, HAHAHAHAHA! Is this your first time visiting the Capital?" Uncle Ed ask.

"Yes, we plan to work as an adventurer and earn lots of money!" I said while thinking of living a wealthy life.

"You, youngster have a good life and enjoy as much as you can. When you turn in a life that you can't do anything you'll regret it." Uncle said in a happy tone.

We are now at the entrance gate and the guards on duty inspect the Carriage before letting us go. We look like a lost child while glancing on every corner. I never knew that this will be the scenery that I will first see when I enter the Capital.

"You liked the view? Just beware of the bad guys around here." Uncle Ed warned us and we nodded in response to it.

"HAHAHA! Let's earn a lot of moneyyyyyy!!!" Fria and I said while in a tone of singing.

"I'll drop you here since I'll be heading to Viscount Tarravia office now. Let's meet at the Merchant Guild later." Uncle said his goodbye and depart

"Let's buy some clothes first before going to the Adventurers Guild. I need a cloak and mask to cover my face." Calliope suggest.
