Against the World: The last Monapart

No one with the name Monapart could ever use magic. But no Monapart ever cared about it. They were always the strongest of them all. Each one stronger than the last. The world couldn't accept their existence. When the strongest Monapart died, they swore to never let another one get stronger again. Every human, beast, and demon would be killed at the mere mention of the name... But time passes, and soon, they forgot. "Curses...Curses... The fucking curses! They were the rage, the fear, and the embodiment of someone's will, so why?! Why all of them are made to kill everything?!" Said the first Monapart. But the curse in front of him didn't answer, it just stared at him smiling like always. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- When he was born, he didn't cry, nor made any kind of sound in the process, but no one cared for him enough to notice. After just two days of life, he opened his eyes. An unusual thing as babies usually need at least a month to do so. His green eyes moved wildly looking at every corner of his room with deep curiosity, but not understanding anything in his view. He still couldn't understand the concept of 'thing' yet, but that changed after one month of life. After one month, he understood he was alive and most of the things in the room weren't. He still couldn't put it in words but he clearly knew that he was way different than the chair next to him. The speed of his understanding was outstanding. Sadly, in his sixth month of life, while he was asleep, flames covered his entire room and himself. It didn't take even a second and all the room turned into ashes. The baby didn't die as expected, but he was no longer in the dark room. [ Curse received: Heart offering ] . . [ Heart offering: Once per day the curse bearer will lose one of his five senses until he loses everything or dies ] . . [ Heart offering is taking effect ] . . [ Sense of hearing lost] ----------------------------------------------------------------------- -At least one chapter of 1000 words a day -If you don't like the start, I guess chapter 21 is a good one to jump to but you will still feel a little lost -If you find any error, please comment on it and I will fix it -I hope you like it

Dust is Bad for the eyes

"Treasure?"

"Yes, most of the dungeons have something like this. I read in a book that some dungeons were used as the resting place for powerful people, they liked to put their entire wealth here believing it would go with them to the other side"

"So, there is someone in that box? How is he gonna rest there? He is gonna die if he stays there for too long"

"Not necessarily, he can be a vampire, they really like sleeping for thousands of years. But in this case, he probably is just a human who died already and was put here as a form of honor to his life"

"That is strange"

"True, let's see what we can find in his body" He said excitedly.

Evan opened the tomb and we looked inside.

"Where is the body?"

"It already turned to dust, it happens if you give enough time"

He said, removing a sword from the tomb. The sword looked beautiful, with a lot of details.

"Can you use it?"

"No... it's too old" Then he punched the sword and it broke into pieces.

"I will explore the other rooms and see if I can find something interesting"

"Okay, I still want to look at the coffin a little more. I feel like there is still something here"

"Sure"

*Booom*

*Booom*

*Booom*

*Booom*

After some time, all the doors were open and Evan was caring a lot of shiny yellow stuff in his arms. I couldn't find anything in the coffin so I tried to move it and see if there is anything underneath. I pushed it a little but I wasn't strong enough, the coffin was too heavy.

"Hey! Evan, help me push this thing. I think there is something under it"

He got closer and we started to push the coffin, the coffin slowly started to move. After moving it, we could see a tunnel hidden under the coffin. The tunnel was big enough for both of us to pass, but we wouldn't know where it would lead us.

"Here, I found this in one of the rooms" Then he gave me a yellow ring with strange symbols carved on it.

I put the ring on. My eyes started burning for a while, and when the pain stopped, the whole room became bright. It felt like a light was shining through my eyes.

"What is happening?"

"Relax, it's an enchanted ring. It lets you see in the dark"

"How?"

"I don't know, magic maybe. Now let's see where this tunnel leads to"

We walked through the tunnel and after some time we arrived at the end of it.

"The tunnel leads to a wall?"

"Maybe there is a secret door, let me check"

Evan started to touch all the bricks of the wall until one of them was pushed back and the wall started to move to the side.

"Wich stupid fuck made something so easy to find?"

The wall was making a lot of noise and dust was falling from it. It was surprising that it was still working, then suddenly a blue window appeared.

(!)[Warning! ]

(!)[Level 5 creature detected]

Evan quickly put his hand on my mouth and pushed me to the wall on the left. Clearly hiding from something.

"Shhh, we need to go back, as fast as possible. That thing is too strong for us and if we get closer, it will sense us" He said as he removed his hand from my mouth.

I looked at my side and saw the monster he was talking about, it was a huge black tiger. It was sleeping, but we could still feel the pressure from it, I didn't need the system to tell me I would die if I went just a little closer.

We left, just speaking again when we reached the temple.

"Do we need to pass through that?" I asked

"I think so, when I searched all the other rooms, there was no exit. And behind the tiger, I saw a lance of stairs. It's probably the way out. From the time we spent falling, it must have around fifty floors"

"..."

Then we sat down on the floor and stared at the ceiling, not knowing what to do.

"Can we just run through it?"

"Wanna try? I bet that your head will be flying in five seconds and even if we get to the stairs, what will we do? The next monster won't be as powerful as the tiger but will still be stronger than us"

"Every year, my body gets stronger. Maybe in some years, we can fight it together?"

"Well... I don't think your weird skill will be enough, but I liked the idea of fighting it. The problem is, I am too weak to even hurt it, and you are too weak to survive a few seconds against it. So we need to power up a little"

"How?"

"I call it constructive and healthy training, but first I have more important things to do." Then he got up and started to pick up the shiny yellow things from the ground.

"What are these things?"

"Necklaces, rings, bracelets, I don't care, the important part is that all of them are made of gold. I just need to melt it, find a nice enough mold and I can make my own pack of golden poker cards" He seemed very excited and happy.

"Is it a game?"

"Yes... Ah! I just remembered. I made a new chessboard, but when I found this place I forgot completely about it. Let's play when we arrive home" He said as we walked back to the path we came.

"Sure, I guess...Home?" For some reason, that word felt different to me.

"The cave, though we still didn't build anything in it. It will be our home from now on"

"Our home... It's not a base?"

"No, our home. It's not a base, do you need me to spell it or what? Base feels like a place to guard weapons and stuff or something like a treehouse"

'Indeed, home feels way nicer than base or shelter' My eyes turned a little misty.

"Hey, are you crying? Are you sad about something?"

'Uh? I am crying?' I put my hand on my face and felt the tears.

'Why?' I was feeling something but I was sure I wasn't sad.

"No, I don't think I am sad" I said.

"Okay then. It must be the dust be more careful next time. Don't go around rising dust or this is gonna happen"

"Dust? Yea... Sure"
