Lian Zhinan went home with his red eyes. When he saw the Butler waiting for him inside, he was instantly filled with grievance and tears started to pooled down on his cheeks.

Seeing him like this, the face of the old man darkened. He looked at Lian Zhinan and took him into his arms.

"Hush, tell grandpa who bullied you."

But before he could answer, Chu Yan appeared behind him. Lian Zhinan stiffened and kept his mouth shut. He couldn't stop rubbing his fingers.

"Xiao Lian, you should sleep at this time. Mei Xue and Shao Pei, bring the young master upstairs."

Lian Zhinan nodded and immediately went with the maids. He almost staggered pacing his steps and the boy was definitely scared and frightened. The two maids supported him. After they left, Butler Zhao stared at Chu Yan.

"Sir, I know that Xiao Lian is young, if he offended you, I will apologize in his behalf. There's no need for him to be punished."

Butler Zhao worked in the Chu Mansion for decades, and he even witnessed how Chu Yan grew from a young man to a mature person he was right now. He also treated Chu Yan as his child, and he understands his behavior the most. In also regards to your loyalty, I wouldn't settle this account tonight." Chu Yan paused, remembering something, he added, "I remembered that you have a bedridden grandson that needed medication, right? If you lost this job, what would happen?"

Butler Zhao's eyes widened, hearing his words. He knew that Chu Yan was a ruthless person, but he couldn't believe he would also be ruthless towards him. And recalling his weak grandchild, his face rather turned uglier. In fact, the reason he was protective of Lian Zhinan is because he reminds him of his grandson. Weak and fragile, but also sweet and determined.

He forced himself to respond, "Yes, sir. I'm sorry."

Chu Yan smiled and went upstairs.
