A new work from the author of 'My Senior Brother is Too Steady', welcome to enjoy it! ------------------ In the instant the Earth exploded, the fear of death finally transformed into physical torment, the agony of being scorched seared into the deepest recesses of Yang Ming's memory. "The universe is the abyss." Yang Ming murmured softly among the stars. [PS: Not a game narrative; early game settings will have a complete logical explanation later in the plot. Starting anew on a different track, this isn't in the style of previous works so don't promote it in the old way, treat me as a newcomer. Just entering the domain of interstellar sci-fi, corrections on details are welcome. ]
The battle in outer space ended within just over ten minutes.
The silver-white battleship slowly retracted its gun barrels, its elegant curved armor coming back into view again, but the robust main cannons on the underbelly did not retract with them.
"What are they trying to do?"
Yang Ming asked softly, his gaze fixed on the observation perspective provided by Kolev's drones.
Kolev slumped in the co-pilot's seat as if all his dreams had been drained from him, muttering over and over, "I really should retire. I could buy a manor, invest a bit in real estate. Collecting rent wouldn't be so bad."
On the projection screen, two landing craft enveloped in flames rapidly descended to the planet's surface, gathering information around the fissures of magma on the ground.
Ten minutes later, these landing crafts returned to the battleship. Before they could dock into the rear hangar, a bright blue beam descended from the skies, striking the city ruins below.
