Abyss Holder

In the desolate urban sprawl, there existed a boy named Steven – a name as commonplace as the concrete beneath his worn-out shoes. His figure, terribly slender, bore the weight of days without sustenance, a stark reflection of the harsh life within the shadows of the towering skyscrapers. His disheveled appearance spoke of deprivation; his clothing, little more than rags haphazardly sewn together, clung to his meager frame. Steven's features, though obscured by grime, revealed a haunting contrast. His black hair, adorned with a few rebellious red strands, framed a face marked by hardship. His pupils, black with a faint but discernible red tint, mirrored the desolation etched into his soul. Staring into the familiar darkness that enveloped his existence, Steven couldn't help but voice the silent question that echoed in his mind, "When is this going to end?" The abyss, seemingly attuned to his despair, responded with a transformative touch. The surroundings, once stagnant and oppressive, began to shift and change before him, trapping him in a perpetual cycle of witnessing his own tragic past unfold. Transported back to the age of six, Steven found himself amidst the warmth of familial joy, his parents' and his own expressions radiating happiness. Yet, even in the midst of this fleeting respite, the relentless cycle persisted, as if destiny reveled in replaying the moments that fueled the flames of his recurrent nightmares. Fighting against the inexorable pull of his haunting memories, Steven, like a slum-bound ghost, yearned for an end to the perpetual loop. The city's towers cast long shadows over his struggle, and the contrast between the opulence above and his desolation below fueled his determination for a better life. In the midst of this dire reality, Steven's path took an unexpected turn when he made the resolute decision to enlist in the military. The armed forces, a gateway to opportunity and escape from the slum's oppressive grasp, promised a chance to break free from the shackles of his impoverished past. Little did Steven know that his journey would extend far beyond the familiar streets of the slums. The military, equipped with advanced technology and knowledge of other dimensions, opened doors to realms previously unimaginable. As he explored new universes and studied the cosmic mysteries, Steven's quest for a better life evolved into a cosmic odyssey, challenging not only the limits of his physical existence but also the boundaries of reality itself. Throughout this transformative journey, Steven, emotionally reserved and scarred by the echoes of his past, found solace in the bonds forged amidst the trials of the military. Trust and love became the cornerstones of his emotional awakening, as he learned to unveil the layers of vulnerability hidden beneath his stoic exterior. As Steven navigates the interwoven tapestry of action, tragedy, romance, sci-fi, adventure, and dimensions, the narrative expands to reflect the complexity of his existence. The story, no longer confined to the limitations of the slums, becomes a symphony of emotions, echoing the resilient spirit of a young man determined to transcend the shadows of his past and embrace the limitless possibilities that unfold across the cosmic expanse.

First Pic Together

"troon troon troon"

My alarm soon woke me up, and when I opened my eyes, it was already six o'clock. I had about an hour to get ready, so I got up from the couch and headed for the building's roof. The last of the daylight was quickly fading, and night was drawing near.

I went to the side of the roof where the high fence was. I felt at ease because I could see the city from here, with its high buildings and hovercars in the distance. I looked up after taking in the view of the city's central area. Looking up, I noticed that the sky was completely dark. When I noticed the gloomy sky, it somehow gave me an assuring feeling.

The dark sky at the time was quite pleasant to observe. I drew nearer to the fence as I was gazing up at the sky, jumped over it, and landed on a small ledge where I enjoyed the view and the darkness of the sky. Is the comfort that staring at the night sky brings me one of the changes that the mana strands have made to me as well? I felt a little depressed as I was thinking this because the mana core made it difficult for me to distinguish between my own thoughts and those I was having because of mana strands.

I didn't think about that thought for very long before laying down on the ground and letting one foot hang over the edge of the roof. It was peaceful and comforting to be here.

Similar to the view of the city, it was quite breathtaking to see the various space stations that could be seen even from the planet's surface. I heard the sound of the roof door opening as I was taking in the view of the night sky. I looked toward the door as soon as I heard it and soon caught sight of Aimee. I remained silent and continued to watch her because she didn't seem to notice me. She climbed over the metal water tank and sat over it, quietly taking in the view.

Her argent-colored hair was blowing in the wind when I first noticed this, and the light from the city seemed to be there solely to highlight her beauty. Even more stunning than the city in the distance was the view. I pulled out a cube-shaped, miniature device—a holographic phone—AJ had given me the night we first met in order to get in touch with him. Aimee was still taking in the view when I opened the camera and took a picture of her.

It caused my heart to skip a beat as I was taking the picture.

"Click." She turned to look in the direction the sound was coming from after hearing the camera. She saw me lying on the edge of the ledge, one leg holding the edge and the other holding the holographic phone.

I asked her with a smug smile as soon as I saw her turn to face me, "Beautiful view, isn't it?" When she heard this, she cried out, "STEVEN," in a worried voice. She ran in my direction after the scream, and I saw her jump off the tank. It was amusing to observe her. She had the demeanor of a cat who would stop at nothing to protect her young kittens. She quickly came over to me, put her hands through the fence's opening, and tightly clasped my hand in both of hers.

I laughed when I noticed this and questioned her, "Why are you clinging to me like that?" As soon as she heard this, she sniffled and said, "Y-you'll jump off if I don't stop off." When I first heard this, I wondered if she was crying. There was no one in his life who would have wept for him if he had passed away, so this thought slightly tore at my heart.

When I heard her response, I patted her on the head and said, "I won't jump off." When she heard this she finally looked me in the eye and asked, "You promise?" with tears in her eyes. I gave her a comforting smile and said, "Hmm, I promise." As soon as she heard this, she let go of my hand, and as soon as I jumped back over the fence to reach her, I hugged her in my arms to stop her crying. She gave me a tight hug, so I picked her up in a princess carry and carried her to the water tank where she had been sitting earlier.

I jumped onto it while holding her in my arms and sat on the tank. Aimee was still hugging me, so I put her on my lap and gave her continuous head pats to calm her down.

Soon after, loud laughter was heard coming from the rooftop. "AHAHHAHAHAH You believed that I was going to jump off? Man, I think today may be the best day of my life. AHAHAH." When I heard what she believed I was going to do on the roof's ledge, I couldn't control my laughter. I suppose she had a reason to believe I would jump. I suppose as I listened to her justification, I thought to myself. Aimee said in a low voice, "Don't worry me like that," once we had both calmed down. When I heard this, I nodded while smiling. "Why were you talking about a picture of me anyway?" she asked.

I honestly replied, "Well, you looked really beautiful, so I couldn't help myself," when I heard her question. She flushed when she heard my straightforward response, and she said quietly, "We can take a picture together," in a small voice.

Hearing this, I grinned and replied, "Sure, we should." She grinned broadly at my response, so I pulled out the holographic phone once more, switched the camera mode to front, pointed it in our direction, and snapped a photo by pressing the button on the screen. My fcae was grabbed by Aimee, who then kissed me on the lips. "This will be our first pic together let's make it worth remembering," she said after we kissed, "you know I love your boldness sometimes," to which I responded as I kissed her on the lips. After that, I sent her the pictures on her phone, and we just lay there with each other on the tank.

Our first photo together, in which we were kissing, was created as a result.
