Ekansha's POV:
Dude! Do you even know how embarrassing that was? Bhairavi tried to wake me up. Still, I acted like a fool.
God knows what her mom thinks of us.
Shit.
I tried to talk my way out of there but
the queen stopped me and said we all need it
speak.
What to talk about?
I looked at Bhairavi. She was tense too.
"Can we sit down?" her mom asked, staring at both of us.
I grabbed the two chairs that were next to it
cot.
They both sat down.
"Ekanshi you can too.
I sat on the bed facing them.
Her mom started discussing training
with Bhairavi. I sat like a bum while my
eyes moved from the queen to Bhairavi and back
queen.
"Today we are holding a royal Rajasthani dance festival.
Both of you get ready by evening."
Bhairavi's eyes lit up. I don't really like dancing. I don't want to go to the festival.
"And Ekansh.
I looked at the queen who interrupted my train of thought.
"Enemies are a common thing for us, someone or
others will be behind us until death. Now it's yours
all the responsibility of looking after the next queen. I
you know you'll take care of her more than me
expect from you." she said patting my shoulder.
The way she spoke and looked into my eyes with trust,
I felt warmth from her for the first time. I smiled
warmly.
"When she's crowned, we'll get you both
married." said the queen as she stood up.
Bhairavi's eyes widened for a second and I nodded
a bit as I raced when I heard the word 'married'.
As she left, the queen added, "If you two want to rest, close the door. And I trust you both."
I breathed a sigh of relief when she left.
"You're looking forward to tonight, aren't you?" I asked.
'I'm extremely excited! I love our folk dance."
'I'm extremely excited! I love our wedding. I can not wait
for that." I teased her.
Her cheeks flushed and she looked damn cute.
"Bhairavi! Your dad is calling you."
"Yeah! I'll be there in a second." she replied and ran away without saying anything to me.
It was early evening. I kept it simple. I wore a
ivory colored kurti with white dhoti and mojari (a
a type of Rajasthani) shoe.
After doing hair and smelling with her
favorite cologne, i moved away to find it.
I want to see her.
Everyone looked colorful in their dresses.
I ran from one side of the castle to the other.
"Ekanshi! Come here. We need your help with the lighting.", Bhairavi's brother (cousin) called to me.
I had no other choice. I hung the lights across
pole by climbing a ladder.
I hung the last one in that line when I heard that
a tinkling sound and everyone fell silent.
The sound got louder and louder. I soon saw a girl
a classic authentic Rajasthani outfit. She wore
printed skirt in shades of orange and red with a
a deep V-neck blouse with a matching dupatta (veil) over it. Her face is covered with ghunghat. (another veil covers her head and face.)
I knew it was her, but I lost my balance when she
she lifted the ghunghat revealing her beautiful face.
She wore a bold and fierce look
is hotter than ever.
It wasn't just me. Everyone was amazed. I tried
to get off the ladder and unknowingly I slipped
away and collapsed to the floor with all the wires above me.
Everyone turned their eyes to me.
"Aree, Ekansh Bhai, you will keep falling from now on
na." Everyone burst out laughing.
My eyes were still on her. It was the least of my worries
about backgrounds or people. I was completely
lost in her admiration. She stood there with a charming smile. God, she's mine. Only my! I
I smiled as I felt him reading my mind.
While the boys pulled me up and helped me
untangle the wires around my neck, her friends
pulled Bhairavi out of my sight.
My heart was pounding because I never wanted to stop looking at her!
