The Promise

It was already time for the Empress and the Crown prince to go home.

"Mom, can't we stay a little longer?" the crown prince tugged on his mother's sleeves.

The Empress laughed at how her son was acting. The moment they arrived here, he wanted to go home, now he doesn't want to.

"What have you fed him now that he doesn't want to go see his father?" the Empress asked Elizabeth

"Mom, I wanna spend more time with Elizabeth. Can't we take her with us?" the prince continued tugging on her mother's sleeves.

"She's not allowed yet to enter the palace. But we will come back here next time," the Empress said.

"Take care, your Majesty," Elizabeth bowed to the Empress.

"My dear, I do hope for the day that you become my daughter-in-law. I'm really sorry that my husband has sent for us this early," the Empress said.

The crown prince approached Elizabeth and hugged her tightly.

"When we get married, we will always see each other. I will not miss you anymore. Promise me, you will marry me," Edward said as he showed her his pinky finger.

She hooked her pinky finger with his, indicating she promises.

"I promise, your highness," Elizabeth said as she smiled at him.

As the Empress and the Crown Prince boarded the carriage, the prince couldn't help but steal glances of Elizabeth.

'When will I play with her again?' he thought.

'When will I see him again?' she thought.
