A World of Angels and Demons

Boom!

A large fireball crashed into a building, splitting it in two. Screams echoed throughout the street as the broken half of the building fell to the ground.

People were crying ,screaming and shouting but they were mostly running. Pushing everyone out of their way for their own selfish need to survive.

But that should have been expected .After all, they are all humans.

The skies were filled with blood and fire. Smoke billowed out from the ruined buildings and corpses littered the streets.

It was basically hell on Earth.

What did humanity do to deserve this?

The answer was simple. Everything.

From their selfish needs to their dirty deeds. This was what caused it.

That was what he thought.

Standing on the roof of a building, Liu Qing just stared at the ruined city with an expressionless face.

It's not that he wasn't sorry for them but more like he couldn't feel sorry for them.

It was because he couldn't feel any emotion right now. Something was restricting him.

"Hehehehe"

A chilling voice sounded beside him on his left but he couldn't see it. Other than his emotions, his movements were also sealed. It was like he was just a spectator of a cruel game.

"Beautiful ,isn't it?"

He couldn't see what was speaking to him but he could feel the cold coming from beside him. His emotions were sealed right now but if he had them, he was sure that if he felt fear from looking at the burning city, it was nothing compared to what was beside him.

"You should be grateful that I sealed your emotions up.Now, you can see everything clearly without them"

The voice spoke again and Liu Qing knew what it was referring to. The burning city.

"You can see it yourself. Humans are simply cowardly beings that only care about themselves. They wreck havoc like no other and are more selfish and greedier than any demon"

Liu Qing's head moved downwards against his will and he saw it. People pushing other people out of the way to run away from the fires and some even ran their cars over others to get to safety.

"You know it is true. You can feel it yourself, they don't deserve redemption"

"Just submit yourself to me and I can show you a better world. One that is free from all sins and destruction….All you have to do is turn your back against them, the ones that don't deserve your help"

Looking at the burning city, Liu Qing felt his emotions stirred up.

He knew it was true. He was even thinking about it just then.

Humans were undeserving of redemption. They truly deserved to suffer.

He knew all this from living with them after all these years. They were intolerable, stupid and merciless to others.

He hated them for what they were and how they acted. He just wanted to kill them and wipe them out from the Earth like the very scourge that they are.

But….Then why?

Why was he so reluctant to make that choice? Was it because he still had a thread of belief in humanity left?

Then as he was thinking this, he felt a blazing heat burst out from his right side.

But it wasn't scorching hot, it was cold and warm. Mixing together in perfect harmony between compassion and malice.

"Hahaha…It looks like you still haven't given up your hope yet. Very well then", a deep voice filled with mystery laughed out in amusement.

From the moment the voice was heard, he felt the cold entity on his left shrink back slightly as if he was afraid of the being on his right.

"I will be by your side then and break through the very shackles that hold you down!"

With a loud shout, the blazing entity on his right released a magnificent light that covered the entire city.

"Hmph!", the entity on the left snorted out in disdain and released a cloud of darkness that shrouded the whole sky.

Light and dark clashed together as their forces shook the very city to it's core. Neither one was giving in as the entities blasted each other with their power.

It was a magnificent scene where unending power constantly clashed, creating a beautiful and horrific scene at the same time.

However, the scene didn't last forever.

Up in the air, the sky began to form spiderweb cracks which slowly grew.

Unbeknownst to everyone, the cracks grew more and more significantly and it wasn't until they covered the entire sky did Liu Qing notice them.

But before Liu Qing could inspect them further, the entire surrounding area shook one last time and the entire scene shattered into nothingness along with Liu Qing.

...

"Haah!",with a loud shout, Liu Qing shot up from the bed holding his head.

Cold sweat dripped down his back as he breathed heavily. What he experienced was too much for him to handle. It was like it was all real.

Looking around for confirmation, he found that he was cooped up in the same room that he slept in last night. The same room with empty noodle cups and pizza boxes.

Taking some time to calm himself down, he got up from the bed with a sigh.

"That dream was too real!", Liu Qing complained as he put his head in his hands.

His body was still quaking just thinking about it.

Looking around his room, he didn't find anything out of place from the usual but he couldn't help but check it over again. That dream really shook him up.

"Big Brother, open up! You need to buy dinner for tonight!", a sudden loud knock to the door made him jump in shock.

"Qin'er, stop knocking. I'm coming", Liu Qing grumbled as he walked to the door.

'This brat. Making me scared by knocking on the door like that'

Liu Qing complained in his heart

Opening the door, he saw his little sister, Liu Qin standing in front of the door with an angry look on her face.

"Big Brother, you need to be more responsible. It's already night, it's not good to sleep until so late and not to eat at all", Liu Qin pointed at him and stated in a matter of fact tone.

'This girl. She's obviously younger than me yet she is still lecturing me'

"Ok. Ok. I'm going", Liu Qing waved her off as he walked into the living room.

Liu Qin puffed up her cheeks in annoyance when she saw her big brother ignoring her.

She glanced into his room just to see a couple of empty pizza boxes and noodle cups.

She sighed in exasperation. This big brother of hers was too irresponsible.

"By the way, how is school going Qin'er?",turning around, Liu Qing asked his sister.

"Hmm? I'm getting better if that's what you're asking. I might even be able to finish at the top of the class this term", Liu Qin smiled as she flashed her pearly whites.

Her attitude immediately took a 180° turn when he mentioned her school. She was one of the top students in her school which was something she took great pride in and Liu Qing knew that.

Liu Qing smiled when he heard this.

His sister, Liu Qin was the total opposite of him. Hardworking, dedicated and caring….Everything that he was not.

He was selfish, lazy and had no job at all at the age of 20.

After graduating high school, he had decided that he wasn't going to go to college since he felt that it didn't suit him. Also, his family couldn't afford it at that time either.

So, he decided to let his father save up whatever he could for Liu Qin. She was much more hardworking than he ever was so the money that they saved would actually be going for some good use.

Grabbing his jacket, Liu Qing was about to open the door when it suddenly opened on his own.

Wondering who opened the door, Liu Qing looked up to see his father walk into the apartment.

His father just looked at him as he saw his son walking forward.

"Going out again, Qing'er?", his father asked as he took off his jacket and folded it.

"I'm going to buy some dinner", Liu Qing simply replied back.

The atmosphere was tense as both father and son looked at each other. Even Liu Qin noticed it as well as she stared at the duo with a worried look. Both of them never got along with each other.

"How about you try to get a job? Have you even made any effort in finding out about it?", his father asked again.

"I haven't had any time. I have been busy", Liu Qing replied in an annoyed tone.

He hated it when his father did this. Always asking him if he got a job or not, that he should choose to contribute to society instead of being a bum.

"Doing what? You always stay in the house sleeping and eating. You're not doing anything worthwhile at all!", his father's voice become louder and louder.

"You should take the chance to contribute to society and to help people. It will make you into a better person rather than just lazing about here"

Liu Qing didn't bother paying attention to his father and just walked past him. He heard this nonsense too many times.

However, he said one last thing before he left.

"And how has that worked out for you?"

As soon as he said that, he shut the door in his father's face without bothering about his reaction.

Once he was outside, he took a deep breath. He was thoroughly regretting his words by now.

His father worked at a construction site and at his age, it was not healthy to carry heavy equipment. However, his father still did it everyday without fail to support his family ever since his mother had died 16 years ago.

Just thinking about it made him feel bad in his stomach but he just couldn't walk back in and apologize. His pride wouldn't allow that.

'I'll just talk to him some other time'

Liu Qing thought as he walked down the stairs of his apartment.

However, unbeknownst to him...this would be the last time he would ever talk to his father again.
