A day in darkness (short chapter)

I was currently in a huge castle high on a mountain in the Himalayas. It was difficult to build this property, but it was one of the expenses I couldn't avoid as I needed a place to train my soldiers. And here it was perfect as there were no prying eyes and the rugged and inhospitable climate made it easy to keep the secret.

The property was simple and spartan with a more austere design... like a monastery, now that I think about it. I liked the clean mountain air, but the fact that it was thin was a pretty problematic thing. Anyway, at least it was something that would help in the training of my future royal knights.

Either way the place was desolate, hidden and quite viable to maintain thanks to transport arrangements... I had one more similar base deep in the African jungle that was used by soldiers for crossbow capture excursions to my realm. Perfect and hard to find places.

It helped that I used my satellites to divert attention from the muggles' poorly made machine.

Anyway, it was an inspection visit and I was satisfied. My soldiers were powerful enough to go up against trained Aurors and the recruits were dedicated enough in training not to cause me unnecessary concern. I was currently in the office analyzing and reviewing all the information obtained by our intelligence service.

"Requests for more training resources were accepted by Miss Aarine, master. I didn't know it was coming this week so I didn't properly prepare for the inspection." One of my grandfather's loyal followers said with concern. He was a good guy, from a thoroughbred German family and had a lot of influence in his community... even though I made it clear that my men should let go of their magical communities as in 2 years I would take them all to the new realm. prepared. His name was Karl Bellamy and he was an adult male, 50 years old or so and had straight black hair and cool blue eyes.

My grandfather said he was the son of one of his most loyal supporters and I confirmed this during a visit to his home in the summer when I was 9 years old. He and his family served me well and very promptly, which gave me a good impression.

"You did a good job, Karl…Don't worry so much. How's it going with the recovery project?"

"Our best-trained men have captured many Dark wizards this semester…" He said with distaste. "Excuse the frankness, Master Black, but these people are beyond despicable... I don't think it's proper to add them to our strengths."

"I understand your…rejection, but I have no plans to just add them. See, their cores and bodies can serve me better than their souls and we both know souls can be obliterated."

Saying that allowed me to see the man shudder unconsciously. I was amused to see that. He was a talented wizard and had a bloodline that had great affinity with the soul and the arts of the mind... He knew that changing a soul was not difficult for magic...

But I planned to take this a step further.

After seeing some of the acts committed by these scum I felt disgusted just considering making them my minions. I agreed with Karl's displeasure more than I showed, so I decided to change some plans.

My Magan could control souls then, and I knew magic can spawn sentient beings. Many of my Pokémon golems had already become adequate living beasts, and let's not even talk about the fact that the study of golemancy depends on the study of Homunculi. With that in mind I created hundreds of Homunculi in defective bodies (I didn't know how to make them stable like the wizard who created the house elves yet), but with very varied complex souls and waited for news about the captured wizards.

So all he needed now was to swap the souls of bodies and voila, magically powerful wizards with newly created souls. There were some flaws in the ritual I created for this, but my Magan stabilized everything by making homunculi souls more humanized.

Actually I've experimented a lot to achieve this is a lot the Dark wizards died, but who cares about this scum.

It was a win-win situation for me. On the one hand I won loyal wizard servants with souls created to serve me faithfully until death and on the other... I would have dozens of homunculi to torture...

I actually kind of used my Magan skills to create an infernal dimension called Naraku. All I was going to do after completing the exchange was throw the homunculi with scum souls and leave them to suffer there for eternity.

Hehehe

I felt like Yama now and that was good too.

"How many do you have imprisoned?" I asked the man.

"233. A pretty high number, actually. Our men are no more than 500 in number and adding those would be good for the master's guard corps..."

"Yes, I intend toresolve this soon, but keep capturing more and more Dark wizards... the fewer of them there are in the world, the better."

"As you wish, master."

"Changing the subject, how are things with fae communities?"

That left Karl silent. He wasn't much in favor of adding fae to my soldiers and future subjects, but I'd already made my position clear on that. There would be no discrimination in the Kingdom he wanted to create and whoever did not accept it would be obliterated.

"That…we haven't contacted the fae communities yet, master. I... have not yet given the order to establish agreements with them."

"Why?"

"I i i..."

"Karl Belamy, I've already talked to you about this, haven't I?" I asked coldly as I used the Ashura path to conjure a piece of black metal. The good thing about this metal was that it had the same sealing properties as Pain's irons and would cause continuous stinging pain when pierced through someone. It was one of the most effective methods of torture in my hands today.

"Yes."

"And you keep defying my words, don't you? I think you need to be replaced after all... a servant who doesn't understand his place is not a good servant." I molded the black metal into a thin knife and kept playing with it...

The man was already terrified. He could feel that act was more frightening than it showed as his soul affinity allowed him to see that the knife would hurt not just his body. I hadn't deliberately disguised the weapon knowing he could feel it.

"Forgive me... My lord... I-I'm sorry... I won't disobey anymore."

"You know…my grandfather wouldn't have accepted your apology…He would have pierced his head with it and let his body rot while his soul still lingered in his flesh and rotted along, unable to move on to the afterlife… . to Eternity." I whispered. "It would do the job of making you understand your place… And whoever watched your doom would no longer dare challenge my authority in the future. Don't you find this method efficient?"

"Me me...

"I'm a magnanimous man you see, I don't like to rule by fear, it's only temporarily efficient and generally doesn't serve in the long run... do you understand?"

"Yes..."

"You have 1 month to get a deal with the fae races from Germany and Switzerland and add several of their members to our ranks. In the meantime, it will take out of the minds of all our little soldiers that we currently have in our control any negative thoughts about it. It will also show solicitude for the new additions and do so while maintaining its original functions flawlessly..."

"I understand, my lord… I will not disappoint you again. I swear."

"It's good... now go." I spoke to the man who walked out of my room on shaky legs. "Remember my words Karl, I don't give second chances so don't let me down again."

"I will not go, my lord. You have my word." He ran.

Well, that was more interesting than I imagined. Acting like a Dark lord has great appeal, after all... in fact, if I didn't find it problematic to be controlled by magic, I could be a terrible Dark lord.

Now... back to the bright side of the world...
