Itsuki's POV
We stood in a medical room as they checked upon the two shinobi we encountered this morning, and something still seemed a bit off in the atmosphere. "Someone altered their chakra, as if it was a kekkei genkai." Sarada said looking up from the shinobi. "It could be a genjutsu type of kekkei genkai if chakra is being altered." I said thinking about my encounters to rogue shinobi.
"Lets headout then, we'll scout the area that the attacks occurred the most and try to find anymore clues." Yuki spoke up looking up from a scroll she was reading through. "As per the mission report, they were on a mission where the attacks had been going on." She explained handing the scroll to us.
"Alright we'll split up into three groups, Boruto, and I'll take the right side of the path, you guys take the left, Mitsuki you can use your snakes to scout the whole area around us." Sarada said turning to us. "We'll meet up back here in three hours." She added and we took off into our direction. We stopped after a while and I scanned the area for any charka signatures of any kind. I heard a poof making me turn around to see a small white wolf merely the size of a pup. "What can I do for you Lady Yuki." The small wolf said before looking my way for a while.
"Hanako, I need you to see if you could sniff up any foreign chakra in the area and lead us to it." Yuki spoke to the summoning scratching the back of it's ears. "On it." Hanako said before starting her search. "You use wolf summoning." I asked Yuki as we waited for a sent to be tracked. "Snow wolves were mainly used by my mothers family, so I signed a contract with them to continue the family tradition." She replied turning towards me.
"Don't you use any summonings." Yuki asked and I shook my head in response. "I use snakes, although they will not be very useful for scouting, they're too big for stealth." I explained to her and she nodded agreeing with my statement. "Lady Yuki, I have found one, this way please." Hanako said interrupting our awkward conversation. "Please lead the way." Yuki responded and the wolf took off down the path.
We tailed it going at a rather quick speed to get find anything before it started snowing again covering the scent permanently. "The scent stops here." Hanako said stopping on the snowed path. "Thank you Hanako, you can return then." Yuki said to the wolf and she awarded her with a scratch before the summoning left. "Should we enter." I said looking at the doorway of the cave.
"We still have sometime before going to meet the others so lets see if this place anything we could find useful. The cave was completely dark apart from the small light being faded through the mouth of the cave. "There are signs of a fire here." she said seeing the burnt down ashes wood on the ground. "The cave still goes in deeper." I said looking towards the darkness. We headed to the inner cave the darkness consuming us in just seconds. "Itsuki." I looked behind hearing Yuki gasp.
"Are you alright." I asked concerned about her not knowing what was in the cave. "I can't actually see anything for a while my eyes haven't adjusted yet, could you uh....wait." She replied hesitating before saying the last part. "Here I'll help you through until your eyes get used to the darkness." I said taking hold of her hand gently. I guided her while keeping my eyes trained on the walls of the cave for any danger. We kept going forward for a while until Yuki stopped abruptly making me stop as well. I opened my mouth to ask her something but she began walking again and I just decided to ignore it and continue the strides.
"It's as if this cave is endless." Yuki exclaimed after a while. "It's too deep to be used very frequently, but if someone is-" I was cut off by the ground disappearing underneath us. We fell down the slanted like surface heading down the cave in full speed. I pulled Yuki close to me as our hands were connected. The path was rough enough to leave scratches so on instinct I pulled Yuki into an embrace, my body taking the impact of the hard surface while she was safe in my arms.
We came to a stop after a little while and we fell onto the stone floor unable to control the momentum from the fall. "Why did you do that?" Yuki asked and I opened my eyes to find her underneath me. Our faces were inches apart and I could feel her hot breath on my face as I tried to keep my balance above her. "You could've gotten hurt." I whispered making her eyes widen and I saw her beautiful eyes take over an emotion which I've only seen on my mother.
Realizing the way we were I quickly sat up moving back a little to allow Yuki to sit up as well. "Lets keep going." She spoke up standing up and dusting her clothes off. I noticed that her cloak was ripped a bit but no other injuries can be seen through the low light of the flames surrounding the cave walls. I got onto my feet trying to ignore the burning feeling coursing through my back. I walked forward falling next Yuki hoping that she wouldn't notice the scratches and hoping that my clothes were not ripped due to the impact.
"You're bleeding." Yuki said grabbing hold of my arm making me stop. "I am." I responded trying to sound oblivious. "Let me fix you up, or it might become infected." She said and I gave in stopping next to the closest torch. "I...you need to take your shirt off." Yuki stammered taking out the medical supplies from her pouch. I slipped my shirt off my head shivering as the cold air hit my back letting me feel the scratches more.
"This might sting a little." Yuki mumbled the smell of alcohol filling my nostrils. I hisses a bit as the stinging sensation came over my back. The pain faded after sometime, making me feel Yuki's fingers rub ointment on my back in a very soothing way making my tense muscles relax. "There." She exclaimed motioning me to put my shirt back on.
We kept going through the nicely lit hallways unable to find any traces of anything or anyway out. "Well well, I must say you leaf shinobi are nosy." I heard a voice behind us causing me to snap my head back to see and all too familiar face. "Dato." Yuki hissed next to me her fists clenching seeing the heartless man.
"Ah, it's always great to make encounters with my past victims, won't you say Yuki Hatake and Itsuki Uchiha." Dato hollered at us and my blood started to boil in anger.
