Taking a master, first ghost puppet

In front of him now stood someone who looked a bit older than a middle-aged man; he was currently thoroughly inspecting him as if he were some animal at a zoo.

He also knew who the other party was; it was also one of the reasons why he had come to the alchemy pavilion as quickly as possible, aside from wanting to be deemed a genius alchemist.

The other party was Fu Xiang, the best alchemist within the Kingdom Of Duns, which is where they were currently located; he didn't care much about his alchemy skills since what he had taken from Ye Chen was thousands of times better; what he cared about were the benefits that came with taking such a master, mainly being his protection and his reputation.

Fu Xiang was someone who was utterly obsessed with alchemy, and he was also the person with the strongest cultivation base within the sect; he was a Spirit Severing Stage cultivator; however it was something he had managed to achieve by eating countless pills, so although his cultivation stage was the highest within the sect he would at most be able to beat up a golden core cultivator, this didn't matter since nobody would offend a rank six alchemist even the sect master would have to give in to some of his demands.

This was what he wanted; being his disciple would bring him protection and authority since nobody would want to offend a rank-six alchemist, so as long as he didn't go over the top, he could do anything.

He decided to take the initiative to greet the other party; he knew he had piqued this man's interest by showing his alchemy talent and would make the most of it.

"Greetings elder."

"Did you truly make a rank one pill after studying for only seven hours?"

Not minding that his greeting was utterly ignored, he proceeded with his act. "Yes, elder, it's truly shameful for me to only be able to make an impure pill after studying for a whole seven hours." meekly replied Gu Lingxin; all the while, he was looking as if he was about to cry.

The elder's face visibly twitched at the statement, "What a good seedling; let me see your badge, and when did you join the sect again?"

"This disciple joined the sect a few hours ago," proclaimed Gu Lingxin while handing over his badge to the elder.

"Good, good, truly a talent; it seems that the knowledge of alchemy that I've cultivated my whole life will be able to be carried on, child, do how about becoming my disciple?" the elder said, looking as if he were about to burst with happiness.

Knowing he didn't need to keep acting as if he was depressed, he slowly morphed his face into that of shock and happiness before quickly kowtowing, "Greetings Master!"

"Good disicple! Follow me, you'll be living in the alchemy peak from now on, there's no need to stay in the outer sect, I'll also teach you regularly about alchemy, don't forget in the future if there's something you don't know then you're free to consult your master" said Fu Xiang while casually turning around and slowly making his way out.

Gu Lingxin hurriedly followed behind him.

After walking for a while, they finally arrived next to two houses that were basically mansions.

"The house on the left is yours; there are plenty of books about alchemy in there; also, take these pills so you can break through quicker, so you have more qi to make pills with, let me know when you've mastered the books and if you have any questions" after having said that, he turned around and left with a massive grin still visible on his face.

Going into his house, he saw multiple rooms, some for alchemy, some with qi gathering arrays, and some with massive libraries related to herbs, pills, and just alchemy overall.

Had this been in any other lower leveled sect, this type of setup would have been treated as a holy land, yet it was just something he randomly had in his house.

He didn't need to read this right now since he had deep mastery over alchemy; still, this didn't mean he wouldn't read it just in case there was something he didn't know; he'd just read it later since the first thing he decided to do was to make a ghost slave.

He took out Mo Zhen's soul and quickly wiped out the memories, turning it into an empty white soul; next, he infused it with as much yin qi as he could and made a weird-looking rune which was what would let him control the soul, after a couple of minutes Gu Lingxin now had sweat trickling down his face while gasping for air "Finally done."

There were multiple reasons why he had chosen Mo Zhen's soul; firstly, he had supreme grade roots which would help make him progress quicker; secondly, he also did use Mo Zhen's soul since he wanted to see if there was anything special about it since it used to share a body with a son of luck and lastly he didn't really have a choice, he only had two souls, and one of them couldn't be turned into a puppet even if he wanted to so he could only use this one.

As the ghost slave slowly formed, he could feel the air in his house becoming colder and colder.

Finally, the ghost slave was formed.

"Greeting, master," said the ghost slave in an androgynous voice while kneeling.

Although the ghost slave was just a ghost without any cultivation, it didn't matter since any ghost would be stronger than regular humans.

"Your name shall be 'One' from now on."

'System, how much for a invisibility talisman?'

[Ten luck points]

'That's fine.'

All of a sudden, a talisman with weird symbols appeared in his hands; he took it before sticking it onto the ghost and saying, "Go and find some villages and terrorize and kill the mortals there, eat their souls as well until you break through the first realm of cultivation."

The ghost slave nodded before leaving through the wall; he ordered his ghost to do this because a ghost's cultivation paths differ significantly from humans.

For ghosts to progress, they have to eat human fear and their souls; only after they attain a level high enough to form a fake body will they be able to cultivate with a cultivation method.

Relaxing for a bit, he decided to check the resources his master had sent him, and he was shocked there were over one hundred qi gathering pills; if he just ate them and cultivated he could reach the foundation establishment realm, of course, this would take a long time; still, it'd be much faster than anyone else within the sect.

Still, he didn't dwell too much on it; he had never intended to eat such pills and cut off his future path by filling himself with impurities.

Firstly storing the pills inside of his system space, and then he took out Ye Chen's soul; it was shining with a bright yellow light; he was almost drooling just looking at it, his primal instincts were telling him to swallow it, having had enough he just put it in his mouth and swallowed the soul.

As soon as he ate the soul, his body transformed into his devil's form; small horns grew on his head, his skin slowly became harder, and his veins turned bright orange; eating a soul for him felt addicting; a sense of euphoria coursed through his entire being making him shudder in delight.
