Thank goodness, we have settled all these in good time. However, the furnishing of the duplex will be completed in two weeks said settling down fully in the car.
" Then what do we do? Lily is coming back this evening and I still feel I have failed her..." Adah started a little confusing turning to look at him.
"No you have not, you have truly shown that you are more than a good friend. For now, let's book her into a hotel until the apartment is ready." Munah said meeting her gaze on him. They held the gaze for a while before she looked away adjusting her long strands of hair. She knows within her that Munah had just proffered the solution. She sighed and watched as he started the car.
" Thank you for accepting to come and help get all these sorted..." she said softly without looking at him.
" It's my pleasure to serve. I am supposed to be more grateful." He replied with a smile.
" I am thirsty..." Adah muttered as if talking to herself but was shocked when she realized that he was driving towards a Spanish restaurant that was along the same road not far away from the spot they have left. He parked the car and rushed out to open her side of the door, she came out and loved the quiet coziness of the place. They entered the restaurant and found a seat near the window which was beautifully curtained and decorated with bright artificial ornamental flowers. Soft Spanish music played from the background and Adah instantly loved what her eyes beheld.
They settled down and quickly made their orders. While he ordered tortilla Espanola with onion, she simply ordered the churros and apple drink as well as water. They dug into their food without a word. After their meal, She quickly paid the bills and ordered a Spanish tonic drink.
" You seem to know a lot about the Spanish culture and food..." Adah said quite amazed at the young man
"Thank you, I once worked here and in palm springs it is not just business but a whole lot of is displayed here," Munah said. For the first time, Adah turned around and noticed that the restaurant is filled with all sorts of people and colors and there is something quite Spanish about it all.
"Why did you leave them?" Adah asked turning back her gaze to Munah who sipped from his tonic glass.
"My contract with them expired and at that time, there happened to be downsizing in the organization. The unfortunate exercise happened to affect the junior staff and middle cadre staff." Munah explained fully with a smile.
"How unfortunate..." Adah sighed as she wiped her red lips while she took all he has said to heart. With what he explained, she knows that it is typical of some companies to go that way, especially in times when funds are dwindling. On the other hand, there should be no blames on the organization as well because survival will always be the first mission of operating an organization such as Palm Springs. Adah took a good look at him and wondered again if she is not making any mistakes. This is what she has been wanting to find answers to but she is peaceful around him. There is this sense of security and care that she enjoys but still, there is the case of whether he feels like that towards her too. Sometimes even when they are close during office hours, she finds herself uncomfortable, shivering and unsure of herself. The embarrassment afterward is ridiculous as she cannot control herself around him. Even now in the car, she is feeling like a schoolgirl who is unsure if to hate or to love. Adah remembered one particular incident when they mistakenly bumped into each other. She almost fell if not for his strong arms that held her close and she shocked herself by placing her head on his chest. They had remained like that for about five seconds before she came to her senses, quickly apologized, and hurriedly left the scene. In her deepest heart, and when all by herself, she feels treasured at the thought of that particular incident. She knew that she has fallen for him and she does not need a prophet or seer to tell her. The extra time she now takes to dress to work, making sure she looks extra special and beautiful. The unconscious starring at him during meetings before other staff and tried to defend him, especially before Mrs. Randolph tells her that she may have fallen for him.
She knows that falling in love is not a bed of roses, it is quite a big responsibility. Love for a lady must take sacrifice and submission. Dedication is involved so that is why she believes that for a woman to fall in love, it is her whole essence that falls for the one she loves. She also knows that trust is key but how will she cope because of her high libido and possessiveness, she knows that she is extremely jealous nature. She knows that she needs to work on her fears and insecurities because that is what Bami capitalized upon. Though with Munah she is confident that it will be a different kettle of fish because he is humane, sensible, and caring to a fault.
Adah looked at him and smiled her heart beating very fast. The uniqueness of their meeting will ever be fresh in her mind but in as much as she has fallen for him, hope he does not have anyone in his life? A young man that is so handsome like must have a lady in his life but if not then she must have him at all cost. She knows that she has the beauty to make any man eat from her palms, she has the class and she is very wealthy. Any man will die to have such a lady. Adah relaxed her mind again and told herself to calm down a bit because her beat is on the rise. As he turned the car towards the highway, Adah sat there daydreaming and lost in the streams of love that seems to carry her to nowhere in particular. She finds herself completely lost and never bothered to return to resent reality.
Adah loves intelligent people. Though she is intelligent, she is not the type that is quickly spotted even throughout her school years. She hates being at the forefront of anything. Publicity is not her thing. She remembered one incident that did embarrass her parents during her elementary years. it happened in year four and awards are given to deserving pupils, because her name was called, she took the excuse to visit the convenience and did sit there crying her eyes out. When she did come back, her mother became worried and a search party was sent out to look for her. It took the Principal and her father to beg her to come out which she did and demanded to be taken home. As the episode of what happened then dawned on her, she smiled to herself knowing full well that she still has such nature in her. Shyness is in her but most times, it hardly comes out in the open. This is the reason why she will not forgive Bami, he used this aspect of her weakness to deprive her of her self-worth. Now that she thinks of it, she cursed herself for not realizing how brutish Bami became after he understood her weaknesses and shortcomings. Bami is one mistake she knows that will hunt her except there is someone that will help to erode it away and show her what it means to be loved. Adah has Lily to thank in those trying times for she stood by her, she was the only person that rightly understands her passion, needs, and yearnings. Lily fought her battles, defended her, and helped her to discover who she is. Lily though older but was not proud rather she served her never knowing that she is a Denson. The day she revealed it to Lily remains one of the days she will never forget because Lily thought that it was a prank. It took Adah to bring her father down to see Lily before Lily believed and that revelation did help cement their relationship together. Lily is an orphan who grew up in a foster home. However, she is as wise as an owl and has grown to always be in defense of her self-worth and gender orientation. Despite her shortcomings, they have stuck together for Lady Denson did try her best to put them asunder but never prevailed. Adah knows her mother like the palm of her hands, she can predict her. She took a lot of things from her mother, especially her body prefectures and beauty for Lady Denson is an epitome of beauty. She knows that her mother can be cunning and dangerous but she is now wiser.
