1: The Choice is Yours

Soren felt himself become disconnected from his original world as soon as he chose to enter into this new world. Even the surrounding dark gray void slowly began shifting all around him to form black shadowy figures that had varying appearances.

As he pondered what was exactly happening, another prompt appeared in his vision.

+ As you will soon begin your new adventure within your chosen world, you are given a chance to select a compatible race from a curated list. These races—while most can be chosen using Points—have classes that are race-specific.

The maximum amount of Points one can use on Race is 25.

Soren looked over the prompt and somehow thought about how many Points he should have for this. He had remembered that Points—back when the System first descended—everyone was given fifty points to use for their starter build.

He remembered choosing the "Free" option to save his Points for later while others choose more and more expensive builds. Some of them who chose more powerful builds at the start soon realized the trap that they put themselves into and regretted their choices. Soren kept a more conservative mindset when he chose his starting build that eventually let him survive until the end.

Then a new prompt appeared.

× Seraphim (Angel Subrace)

> Seraphim are a variant of Angels created by God/Chuck that are meant to be parallel to the Archangels themselves. As they are near-immortal and genderless, they're able to possess consenting human vessels and—to certain extents—use their power on Earth. Without a pure bloodline derived from Cain, Abel, Adam, Lilith, or Eve, any angelic being cannot be seen nor heard by living humans. (Cost: 25 points)

× Human

> The most common race across the Omniverse. (Cost: Free)

× Reaper

> Reapers are entities meant to guide the dead to their afterlife. Whether it is to Heaven, Hell, or anywhere in between, it is the job of Reapers to protect the natural order. (Cost: 20 points)

× Demon

> Demons are former human spirits that have sinned against God/Chuck or any divine entity and burned in the Hell dimension. Usually appearing as black smoke, these Demons are able to inhabit any unprotected human vessel. These spirits can also be trapped and bound along with suffering under holy elements. (Cost: 15 points)

× Monster

> While the show did not actively portray all monsters, the ones made known (Vampire, Wendigo, Werewolf, etc) have their own traits and weaknesses. Due to the cost varying between monster bloodlines, some races are not available.

Soren looked over the list of races he could choose for his new life. While he had been human in his first life—regardless of the System's descent—he did not feel like it was needed for him to be one again. He immediately mentally crossed off the Human choice and looked over the other choices.

As for choosing any of the Monster races, he quickly crossed them off too. He wasn't going to play around with hunters nor want to live off of humans when there had been plenty of that in his original world.

"So, I have to choose between junkless winged chickens or black smoke?" Soren asked himself as he pondered over what to choose.

He knew that the choice had to be his. If he chose to side with either the angels or demons, he'd be dealing with their whole war. Demons had their problems, but the angels were made by God to be essentially living automatons.

Soldiers with little to no free will of their own.

"Ugh," he groaned as he wanted to just live in peace after going through hell. "I might have to re-consider what race I want to be at this point."

As he pondered the choices again, Soren wondered if it was truly worth considering to be a Seraphim or a type of demon when there were more on the list of races to choose. He could choose to be an emissary of the Empty or some kind of primordial being, yet most of the time that this System had mentioned what it desired meant something far more darker and twisted.

The choice is yours.
