The true daughter

'Ahh...I should've read that reincarnation novel that Lydia lent me.'

Zaylene watched the loving scene in front of her, as the true daughter of the Norton appeared in front of their living room. Her family, or to be exact, her adopted family, were a wreck as their faces was filled with tears accompanied with big smiles that reached up to their ears.

Some maids were filled with delight from their masters joy while some were glancing between her and the true daughter, Maddie. Zaylene can tell their thoughts through the movement of their eyes but she knows, that it wouldn't happen in real life while imagining different scenarios and possibilities if she were to act like a villain. She knows her ending wont be good based on the novels that she read.

As though the Norton family finally realized that they have another person around, Pierson, the oldest and the heir, turned his head towards her and froze at the sight of her sad smile. He felt his heart beating in pain and quickly called his little sister's name, afraid that she would feel lonely.

"Zay!"

Hearing Pierson's voice, the chatter and laughter paused as the family slowly turned and faced towards the girl, standing with a lonely aura at the top of the stairs. Although the chandelier and the expensive vase glowed showing it's glory, the blank and empty eyes of Zaylene made their hearts quenched.

"Zay, honey, come down and meet your sister."

Lisa immediately consoled her as Zaylene followed her orders. Reaching her mother's side, Lisa pulled her and brought her arms around her shoulders intimately, showing that she is still part of the Norton's.

"Maddie, this is Zaylene. Zay, this is Maddie."

Maddie was shocked at the sudden hug from Zaylene. She could sense that she didn't mean any harm and warmly welcomed her sister's hug.

"Welcome back, sister! By the way, if you need a tour guide or questions about anything, just look for me and I'll tour you around!"

Maddie laugh at her adorable sister. Although, inside, she felt sad for the thought that Zaylene had now become an adopted daughter. Her thoughts were read by the latter and knew that Maddie might've been worried about how people were to view of her, especially at the rumors that's circulating around, about the return of the true Norton's daughter.

"Sis, it won't happen as long as were good to each other and besides, I'm adorable and cute so, what's there to hate me?"

'Because I will be gone...'

Zaylene thought and immediately smiled, hiding her deep thoughts, as her eyes formed into crescents, her eyes glistened as if the stars gathered there, her cheeks were tinted and plump, and her lips smoothly formed into an arc that made her even more beautiful.

Maddie knew at that moment that she would protect her sister from the bullies. She couldn't let that beautiful face filled with tears. As the saying's were right, blood runs thicker than water. The Norton's were known as a sucker for beauty.

Zaylene immediately felt shivers as her adopted family looked at her with intense and purpose. As if coming into a secret anonymous agreement, the five of them all nodded their head at the same time with fingers on their chin.

'umm...have I got myself into something I shouldn't have?'

Zaylene could only pray and wish for her well being and for her future.
