28. The entrance test

Julius looked down as he saw himself elevating. His vision was suddenly blocked as he was covered in a black sphere before they got too high up from the ground.

"Huh?" He furrowed his brows as he floated in the middle of the sphere which confused him.

There was no physics in this world.

'Is this the element of shadow?' He thought as he tried to touch the sphere but he couldn't move the rest of his body from its position and couldn't reach it.

It wasn't even up to twenty seconds since they left the ground and the dome began to vanish, letting Julius descend and stand on the ground.

He looked behind him and they were a considerable distance away from the ground.

"Woah." The word escaped Julius' mouth.

In front of him was a wide open field and far into the distance, he could even see a large number of people.

"Come on." The knight there started to run forward with great speed and River and his brothers ran after him towards the people in the distance.

Julius only blinked before he ran towards them too. His body was covered with a thick golden aura, boosting his speed and reducing the impact of gravity around him, trippling a normal human speed.

After an entire minute of running, they finally reached the group of people there.

Julius couldn't help but be astonished as he saw over a thousand teenagers like him were going to enter the school.

The people looked at the four boys who just arrived and they deduced that they were the princes of the human kingdom.

The knight only made his way forward ahead of all the students, leaving Julius and his brothers there.

"Where did you get this creature anyway?" Cedar asked Julius as he looked at Aria.

"Well, I met her when I got missing that one time." Julius only answered and Cedar nodded.

"Well, I can only hope to get one within the academy. I heard they give some in the competitions and exams they host." Cedar smiled and then Julius smiled at him.

Cedar had grown really handsome in these few years. He still liked his short hair and his green eyes sparkled. Rowan took more of a nobleman look. He has long red hair which was tied beautifully in a ponytail.

River stood beside them, looking the people with a gaze as calm and as still as water.

'This is the first time I'm seeing other races.' Julius thought as he noticed a few people with ears of animals and some with horns and tails.

He even noticed a beautiful elf amongst the group.

"Welcome!! Aspiring students of midgard academy!" All the teenagers looked forward towards the collosal gate in the distance and they could see and the earth rose up slightly making the ground vibrate and an alter was formed with two people on top.

One of them was an old man with long grey hair and a full beard. He wore white traditional clothes consisting of a robe and trouser to match it.

Behind him was another man with black hair who seemed to be blind as his eyes were plain white, however, he turned his head around as if he saw.

"There are a total of 6300 people here and Midgard only accepts a maximum of 5000 students who pass the entrance test!!" The man said.

Despite his mouth sounding so calm and loud, he was just talking normally and it was as if his voice echoed in their minds.

"The test is simple, any of you that scores high in the field battle test. Now begin!!"

As the man's voice echoed passed the entire thousands of students suddenly went silent. They all knelt down on the ground and the man smiled as he observed this.

The students were going to be tested based on their performance in an illusionary world created by the veteran mage behind him.

The man raised his brows as he looked far into the distance to see that one child didn't go to sleep like the others, it was Julius.

...

'Ah, fuck. It's an test in their mind. And mind magic doesn't work on me!' Julius suddenly realized and before he knew it, he felt something wrap around him before he was pulled towards the alter in front.

He floated on the air in front of the two men there and the man behind the old man seemed to be focused too.

The elderly man with the beard gazed at him and analyzed him with his eyes.

"What's your name child?" The man asked and Julius swallowed as he felt a pressure which made his body to sweat.

"Julius Augustine," He said to the man and he floated down to the alter and his feet touched ground again.

"Julius Augustine." The man repeated his name and Julius' eyes widened as he felt something cold wrap his head.

It didn't last long as the old man looked at Julius with a shocked expression as he withdrew his Mana.

"Are you being protected by anyone by chance?" The man asked and Julius shook his head.

"I can't reach your mind. You're going to have a separate test here in reality. It's going to be slightly harder and more realistic because of this," The man said to Julius and he swallowed spit.

"For now just wait, we'll have your own test when we get into the academy," The man said and then Julius turned to the thousands of individuals who were undergoing this test.

Some of them had scared expressions and some of them had fierce and indifferent expressions.

'Seems like my decision to stay low key in this school have been blown now.' He couldn't help but think.

Over thirty minutes passes and some students started regaining consciousness as they stood up.

Some took even an hour and Julius yawned as he waited for the very last to finish and then it was finally over.

"Hm, there are a lot of talented students this year. There is even a boy with a spirit mark." The blind man said as he looked towards the older man.

"A spirit mark! Even as great as I am, I can only hope for one of those." The man smiled.

The blind man tilted his head as he looked beside the elderly man to see Julius standing there.

"Huh? I didn't see you partake in the test."

Two chapters in a few hours.
