Chapter 3: Want To Have Dinner Together

Fu Hao walked into his office and loosened the tie around his neck. he walked closer to his desk but froze upon seeing the uninvited guest sleeping peacefully on the couch.

Lihua stirred sensing a strong presence, she slowly opened her eyes and sat up while staring at Fu Hao who was now calmly seated at his desk,

"Hao", She couldn't help but call out his name emotionally, after all, she had seen him with gruesome injuries, but now, he was unhurt

"What is it?", His voice was emotionless and cold, and he only took a glance in her direction,

She was a bit taken aback at first, but then she remembered that he was treating her coldly because of all her previous actions.

The light in her eyes dimmed and she began fidgeting in her seat, "I was just wondering if you'd want to have dinner together"

He didn't respond but cocked a brow as if to say, "that again?"

She scratched the back of her neck awkwardly and bit down on her lower lip, she had asked that question a day ago and it had not ended well on account of her drugging him,

"It won't be like that, I just want us to have a simple dinner together, really"

"And maybe this time you'll try poison"

She had wanted to refute his statement, but she had nothing to say, she had brought all this upon herself

She stared down at her hand and bit her lower lip harder to stop herself from crying, taking a deep breath, she looked up and gave her best fake smile, "Well, Uhm..., I guess ill be going now, bye"

Once she left, Fu Hao let out a large sigh. He had half expected her to be mad at him for the whole sleeping together incident but was surprised when she asked to have dinner instead. He would have agreed but he had gotten fed up with her schemes, and didn't want to be that gullible again.

Lihua lay dejected on her bed and sighed for the twenty-eight time that day, he had rejected the dinner and she couldn't blame him for it, she only had herself to blame. With her behaviour, even she would reject her request.

'Maybe he's gotten tired of me, what if he decides to stop coming home, what if...'

Her train of thoughts was cut short at the sound of her phone ringing,

"Hey Cora"

Cora was Lihua's best friend. she was half American, and half Chinese but had lived in America for a while before coming to school in China. She had blond straight shoulder-length hair and big brown eyes. She was very optimistic and had an amazing imagination, so it was no surprise that she was a world-renowned writer

"Hua, what's gotten you down in the dumps?"

Cora had known Lihua since the third grade so she knew when her best friend was feeling glum'

Lihua sighed and started narrating the whole ordeal, telling her how she had drugged him and the outcome of the whole thing

"Seriously Lihua, your sister put you up to this and you agreed...", Lihua could hear her facepalm over the phone, "I've always told you that sister of yours was nothing but trouble, and I always advise you to NOT, get into trouble, it never ends well"

Lihua remained silent listening to Cora's scolding, and remembering all her past actions, Urgh, her past self was stupid, and why couldn't she have come back to the time when they had just gotten married, fixing things would be much simpler because there wouldn't be anything to be fixed

"You should know by now, that he loves you, you are really lucky he hasn't decided to abandon you. Well, it's no use sulking about it, since you want to change things, you have to be the one doing the chasing, you can't let such a minor setback weigh you down, you should do something sweet to show your remorse."

"But what should I do?"

"Think about that yourself, it has to be all you, anyway, call me once you're done, I want to hear it all, bye."
