A Reincarnator's Story: He Can't Resist Basketball's Charm!?

Even though life wasn't all sunshine and rainbow, a man who hailed from the Philippines continued living and hoping. Even while wearing tattered clothes and shoes, he still persistently practiced, carrying the hope that he will one day get a little more skillful at the sport he loves. Unfortunately, this was all but wishful thinking. Not to mention the fact that he is severely lacking in the height department, he also don't have any notable talent in basketball, whatsoever. No matter how much time he dedicated to his practice sessions, he could only reach the average skill level of a streetballer in the Philippines. He couldn't even hold a candle to those random thugs you can find on the streets, much less fulfill his dream of one day becoming a professional player. One day, through layer upon layers of dreadful coincidences, he found himself waking up inside an unknown room — talking to someone who identified themselves as a part of a civilization much higher than a Type 6 civilization on the Kardashev Scale. How high are 'they', exactly? No one really knows. Due to an unforseen war that happened between Type 6 civilizations —civilizations who can, with relative ease, create and destroy universes or even a multiverse — an error occurred. It just so happens that the man was smack dab in the middle of where all the lightning strikes and literal lightning balls rained down after passing through the spatio-temporal reality that the mysterious entity 'created'. It even destroyed a fabric of the spatio-temporal reality in the process. 「As this was all due to a deviation on our otherwise omniscient calculations, we will grant you the wish that you so wanted as 'compensation' .」 Without any forewarning, the man was whisked away from the unknown space and was abruptly sent to who knows where. The only saving grace was the fact that he received a package as a 'bonus'. "I embraced something but it wasn't a woman but death!" "Why are all of these people so extraordinary when it came to basketball? Granted, this is basketball universe, but still…" Follow Seiji as he embarks on his basketball journey, meeting new adversaries and friends alike. ※・※・※・※ DISCLAIMER! I do not own any of the anime/manga/light novel characters that will be portrayed in this fanfiction. This is just a book that I made for my own satisfaction.

「The End」 And Seiji's Future Path

After fully awakening 「The End」, Seiji have some free time before tomorrow arrives so he went into the Internet and broke his search tab searching for different abilities that he could find on the internet. He did see some clips containing the one who possess some kind of ability in action, using his own ability, but those are rare instances.

People these days really try hard not to reveal their trump cards on the internet. However, there is a place where Seiji got to watch different people use their abilities with all their might. Yes, even though Seiji hadn't notice it until now, he's been watching players from all over the world showcase their talents on the biggest stage.

If you think about it more deeply, it's probably the main reason why Seiji's ability, 「The End」, awakened earlier than his 「Superhuman Physiology」. While he needed to wait for 「Superhuman Physiology」 to awaken by itself through the help of his 「Advanced Growth Rate」, Seiji had no idea how he could awaken his third ability, 「The End」.

However, it seems like watching different arrays of people use their abilities live through attending IBA playoff games every year, hastened the awakening of his ability. The final driving force to awaken it was the calm state that he experienced during the half time in their match against Nada Junior High and seeing his teammates use their abilities for the first time, like Akagi and Wakamatsu.

After arriving at this conclusion, Seiji plopped right on top of his bed and mumbled.

"So, if my family wasn't super rich, I wouldn't be able to awaken my third ability at all until I managed to play at the IBA for a few years? I could definitely learn an ability by watching it through a video but that's gonna take time since not everything can be captured on a camera's lens."

Although 'observing' is a part of the conditions for him to learn abilities and any skills, courtesy of his 「Advanced Growth Rate」 and 「The End」, there are certain factors limiting him from just going into a learning spree. First off, it's Seiji's body. Seiji, although he has inhuman capabilities as of right now, couldn't use the abilities that the adults make use of during their games yet. At the very least, he needs to wait for his 「Superhuman Physiology」 to fully unlock before becoming fully capable of doing those things.

One must remember that Seiji, although capable of harnessing inhuman power, strength, and etc, is still a developing teenager through and through. Even though it is like that, Seiji could dunk, making use of his inhuman capabilities and can also use this capability on other things like shooting deep treys. However, he never showed it yet since he didn't feel the need to show off.

The second limiting factor is the lack of abilities Seiji could copy through watching videos. Take for example, Izuki's and the popular hero ball player DeAndre Paul's eye ability. Even if Seiji knew that they used their abilities while watching on screen, Seiji couldn't copy them just by watching them through a screen. He needs to atleast experience the ability itself or observe it being used in person.

There's also the fact that, even though he could copy the abilities he sees, Seiji didn't find it useful to him because most of them is just physical related stuffs. Once he fully awakens his 「Superhuman Physiology」, Seiji could do all of those things himself.

"I should just focus on fully utilizing what I have on hand before learning anything else. If I get to see something great though, I'll definitely learn it!"

Seiji didn't sleep well that night, thinking about ways he could utilize the abilities that he got from his teammates and the ability that he got from the player that he watched the most since childhood, DeAndre Paul. In the future, unless there's new abilities that directly superior to his current arsenal, Seiji wouldn't use them that much.

Seiji already have his hands full just thinking about how he could utilize all of his current abilities in a match so he didn't want to create more trouble for himself. As what adults often say, you shouldn't create troubles for yourself unless you're that bored of your life.

The next day, Seiji woke up early in the morning, took a bath, ate breakfast with Rena and Mia, then drove to school. Today is the Day 3 of the preliminaries and it's a rest day for them since it's block B's turn to have their matches.

Just earlier while they're in the car, Seiji asked Kosaki if he could read some of her notes since he wanted to know where their lessons are now. Because of his insane learning speed, Seiji just skimmed through it and before returning it to Kosaki.

In fact, he didn't really need to study these middle school materials anymore because of his advanced studies during his childhood. However, since he didn't want to look like a delinquent in the eyes of the teachers, he still took studying seriously, topping all the rankings at the school on every subjects.

Today, during their art class, Sengoku Chihiro, their homeroom and arts teacher, is unusually fixated on him. She would call out to him whenever she asks a question to the class, something that Seiji didn't mind, and would look at him from time to time for some strange reason.

After their class ended, Seiji got called out by Chihiro and told him to stay. Seiji wasn't surprised by this at all since he felt like his teacher did have something to tell him, just from the way she acted during her class.

"You're that little genius from the Arisugawa clan, right?"

It seems like Chihiro didn't like beating around the bush as she just cut to the chase.

"Well, yes, ma'am. It feels quite awkward to admit that you're a genius but… yeah… that's how they call me during my stay in the large mansion."

Upon hearing Seiji's affirmation, Chihiro let out a sigh of relief.

"Well, you see, I've been observing you these past few months and I learned that you aren't a bad kid at all. This is why I have a favor to ask of you."

Seiji is quite suspicious about this chain of events but he still answered affirmatively nonetheless.

"Umm… okay ma'am. So, what is this favor that you want to ask of me?"

Seiji didn't know what was coming but he prepared himself nonetheless. It just felt like Chihiro is going to drop a bomb on his face.

"Well, it's like this. I already talked to your parents and have come to an agreement about my cousin staying with you in your mansion. She's quite ditzy so I'm quite worried about her coming to Japan to become a mangaka. This is why I asked your parents if she could stay in your place."

"Umm… What about your place ma'am? I don't quite get why she needs to stay at our place of all places."

"Oh? Didn't your father, Rentarou, tell you?"

Having a bad feeling about where this conversation will lead to, Seiji braced himself and asked, "Tell me what?"

"You see, your biological father is quite the talented man. So talented in fact that he is quite famous on other fields like art. My cousin is a fan of your father and she wanted to see what his son looks like. "I want to see what color he is", she said."

Seiji was definitely shocked by this revelation but he didn't really dwell on it too much. He did hear his adopted mother and father talk about 'him' most of the time but he didn't have any idea who it was.

While scratching his cheeks, Seiji went into deep thought for a second.

"Alright. I get it. It seems like mom and dad arranged for this beforehand. This is also the reason why Rena is hurrying to move to my place, huh."

"Well, I don't know about your sister but please do take care of my cousin m'kay? Be sure to pick her up at the station next week. With that said, I'm gonna take my leave now."

"O-Oh. Okay Ma'am Chihiro."

Even though it was such a strange day, Seiji was still able to have fun and relax during this one day break before the finals for their block arrives.

To be continued…

[A/N¹: Alright, you guys might go, "Heyyy, you said you wouldn't nerf him but here you are doing just that!" but that isn't the case at all. It is already mentioned in this chapter that Seiji is still in his development phase. No crazy stuffs like dunking from lane up yet. However, his stamina is also nothing to scoff at, able to play at his best all throughout the game. Also, it is KnB fashion to have 'awakenings'. Hahaha]

[A/N²: To be completely honest with you guys, I wrote about this limiting factors on 「The End」 because, sooner or later, I'll run out of ideas for an ability or ability name. This is why I added this. It's so that I could stockpile and slowly think about abilities and its names for future chapters. Also, there's the fact that almost every abilities except the eye related stuffs and other stuffs that doesn't involve increasing the body's capabilities, are of literally no use to Seiji, given the fact that he owns the ability 「Superhuman Physiology」.]
