Garret rode back to the city wall, a look of deep relief on his face. It had taken hours to get up the mountain and fetch his jar of wine from the mountains and so it was already dawn.
In the end, the rains did not come like Garrett predicted and Garrett intended to cast the blame on the soldier who spoke of rain.
Garrett would never have gone to the mountain in such a hurry had it not been for that soldier and now, Garrett could not imagine how furious Owen would be.
Since it was already dawn, the city commander would return to the city wall within the hour and there was no explanation Garrett could give that would calm Owen's rage.
Garrett heaved a sigh as he rode through old town, the town was quiet and this was expected since it was still so early in the day.
Dawn was yet to break and the streets were still engulfed in darkness.
But for some reason, the closer Garrett approached the city wall, he began to feel unsettled.
