Friends

I ran down the hill, slowing down on the main street. I noticed Alexa and Damien, my two best friends, talking outside the cafe. I ran over, "hey, morning"

Alexa and Damien both turned to me, "oh, Levi. Hey, how are you doing?"

"Bit annoyed, to be honest. They were comparing me to the Valentine again."

Damien nodded, "yeah, you're always being put up against her. But you can't blame them. Everyone is expecting amazing things from the both of you, so naturally people want to know who's better."

Alexa laughed, "yeah, and it does help that you're being compared to a complete airhead. After all, she is a model."

We all laughed. Of course, Alexa would think that. After all, if Angelica hadn't gone after being a model, than Alexa would've been in her place. The shining star of a big company, with people gasping at her footsteps. Her natural beauty was already incredible, but her sense of fashion along with it truly made her truly powerful.

Damien was from a smaller family, and they worked for the Greenhorns. The Greenhorns are a family of farmers, and they needed office men to do their billing and such. So, they bought a small office in the city to make it happen.

Of anyone I could've been friends with, I chose them. Not once did they ask for money or fame, but they only asked for my friendship. And as the heir to a seventy five year old company, that was exactly what I needed. True friends.

I left a minute or two later, before continuing my morning run. Cars drove past me, and I walked into the alley where it all started.

I spotted a girl in the corner, crying. I walked over, placing a hand on her shoulder, "hey, what's wrong little one?"

She looked up at me, "I can't find big sis or Kevin! And mommy said not to get lost! Oh boy, what am I going to do?"

I smiled, "easy. You're going to find them, with my help."

I picked her up, before running out onto the streets. She looked around, and whenever she spotted someone with cherry pink hair, I ran in that direction. I ran for hours, trying to find this girls family, when finally, a man tapped me on my shoulder.

"Um, kid, hey. We've been watching you run around the streets with this little girl for awhile. I wanted to ask if we could help, at all?" he asked, and I smiled.

"Yeah, of course. She just got lost in an alley, and we need to find her brother and sister before they leave."

"Okay then. I'll send out a message, asking about her. We'll wait and hour, and if nobody comes, I'll take her with me to the station."

"Understood. Thank you, officer."

I heard the announcement a moment later, and instantly heard running. I set the girl down, and the brother and sister instantly threw their arms around her.

"Oh thank god. Thank you, stranger."

"Don't mention it. After all, everyone needs to look out for one another. Make sure she stays close."

I was about to walk away, when the sister asked, "sir, what is your name, if that's not rude. I just would like to tell my mother who helped me today.x

"Oh, me? Leviathan Terrastone. Have an amazing evening ma'am."

I got back to my run, realizing that father would be upset if I stayed too much longer. He always worried about his kids, even me. While he didn't love me the same as the other kids, I was still his child.

I walked up the manor steps, and the butler opened the door. I smiled, "thank you."

"It is my duty, young master Leviathan."

"And? I would be wrong not to thank you."

Fake friends. People my father hired, who were forced to be friendly no matter what. Forced to sympathize, forced to listen, and forced to watch.

I walked up the stairs, entering my room, and the blinds opened, my laundry folded, and the floor, swept and mopped. The maids had been here.

I sat down, reading my book. Dad would be furious if I didn't. After all, he wanted me to be the best.

My phone rang, and when I answered, a woman's voice was there, "are you Leviathan Terrastone?"

"Yes ma'am, indeed I am."

"Well, I wanted to thank you for helping my daughter. She was talking about how gentle you were. Also, she said you dropped a pendant, one of a emerald serpent?"

I nodded, "yeah, I did, actually. But let her keep it. It didn't mean anything to me anyways."

Then, there are the people like this woman. People who are grateful to me, without knowing my identity. All because I helped someone they loved.

The world we live in is strange.
