This has now become the rough draft of a new novel I intend to submit into the spirity awards of 2023. After a lot of thinking upon the idea, I’ve come to the conclusion that my alterations to the story would be so great that I should start from scratch, and the decision has been very helpful for me, allowing me to take time to look into how my story could be deserving of the eyes of readers like you and allowing me to make myself more proud of my work. A lot of aspects such as characters and powers will remain the same, but the core of the story itself will be crucially altered, adding even more mystery and building upon the world that I’ve been creating over the past 3-4 years much better than I have been. I would like to thank everyone for their support over the time since I typed my first rendition of A Personal Hell for A Winged Killer and I hope that you’ll follow the story again a year from now under a new name(Undecided). My journey as a guy who just writes for fun to someone who’s become dedicated to the story and characters I’ve imagined wouldn’t be the same without you, so once again, I thank you and hope you enjoyed your stay. This story will remain on pause until I decide what to do with it. I was thinking of making this an alternate side story for what I intend to replace it with or to just continue to use it for reference as the new story evolves and learns from its original. All light in the room vanished, leaving Bo in the darkness.
'Trying to cut off my sense of sight. Smart, but he's mismatched.'
Beo's voice rang through their head.
'This joker thinks he's smart. LETS KILL 'IM.'
He heard footsteps from the right, following in pursuit instantaneously. An arrogant voice released from Bo's mouth, seemingly forcing itself out from deep within.
"Goodbye!"
As Bo swung, he lost balance, and a force had struck him from the left, opposite of what he'd been chasing.
'I'm sure I just hit him. What's going on here?'
The man's voice came through the darkness, and Bo's eyes locked onto target.
"Your overconfidence is as plain as your incompetence. While fools like you are crawling on all fours on the surface, people like myself are forced to retreat to the realm of the shadows…"
Bo charged in the direction of his speaking, but he missed and was again tossed to the floor.
"…Only to show ourselves again when the sun retreats itself. I hate people like you. You have no idea of our purpose and don't care to find out... Truly ape-like."
The voice came from the opposite direction, and Bo made another attempt at charging him but was met with the same force he'd seen previously.
"Just look at you, crawling about the ground, YOU FOUR-ARMED FREAK!"
Bo stopped attempting to charge him and instead stood still; thinking to himself.
'He's the guy.'
A voice in his head responded, agreeing.
'Yeah, I noticed. He's using a pretty nasty trick that's messing with our senses.'
The man continued to speak, relishing as he watched Bo stand and struggle to oppose him. His voice signified he got a high from the exchange, his confidence through the roof.
"Did you give up? You seem to be having a bit of trouble there. Let me help you out."
A small clink came from all directions, and Bo's eyes widened.
'That's a throwing knife, Icarus. Without knowing where it's coming from, there's no way of dodging.'
'I've got us covered… To think I'd be forced to use this already.'
A swoosh filled the air around Bo. The knife swiftly approached, and Bo instinctually flinched as it made a loud clanking sound after striking Bo's skin and hitting the ground beneath them. The man's voice began to rise as Bo's skin lie, covered in metal. It slowly retreated, dissipating into nothingness.
"Hmmm? Metal skin? There's only one person I know can use something like that… If I turn you in… MASTER RIGKT WILL BE FORCED TO MAKE ME A SAVIOR!"
Footsteps filled the air again, this time violently approaching Bo. Beo's voice came quickly.
'There's no way to dodge. Brace for impact, Icarus.'
'Right.'
Bo tried to shield himself but fell short when a blow landed against his Liver. He coughed in pain.
"Ack…"
Another blow landed against Bo's face, causing him to fall to the floor, and the man laughed at Bo's pitiful state, standing above him as he writhed on the ground in pain.
"Your face is absolutely priceless! The smell of the blood you just spit up is oh too divine!"
He began repeatedly stomping on Bo, and he was unable to block his blows, eventually being knocked unconscious by repeated blows to the head.
"Now I, Caesar Flivok, will be crowned the 9th general of the Hole! I'll be able to dine with the gods after one simple battle with a weakling like Icarus Kreyn?! GOODBYE YOU WINGED A--"
A voice came from beneath Caesar's foot, stopping his crazed rant in an instant.
"Really?"
Bone shot from within Bo's body, shooting in all directions. Caesar narrowly dodged the spikes and remained at a distance from Bo. Caesar shrugged, disappointed yet also happy that the fight hadn't closed.
"Well… I guess it was a little arrogant of me to think the fight would be over that easily. Nevertheless, you're finished, Icarus Kreyn."
"Icarus Kreyn?"
Bo laughed, filling the entire room.
"... My bad. It won't be much fun for you anymore."
"You talk big after just getting your ass kicked? I won't even reiterate the fact that I'm undetectable."
...
Caesar stepped back a bit, laughing hysterically.
"So you finally decided to use it? Full-Body Takeover?!"
Beo threw his bat to the floor as his cat-like eyes pinched, fixated on Caesar.
"I CAN SEE YOU NOW, PUSSY!"
Beo charged toward Caesar who made no reaction to his approach.
"Can you?"
Beo swung viciously toward Caesar who remained still, but was struck with even more force than before. Beo's body rebounded off of the wall and hit the ground, and as he tried to regain balance, Caesar slowly strutted toward him, hitting the bat that Beo'd dropped to the ground against his palm.
"I really should thank you. Your overconfidence has gifted me with my very own metal bat."
Caesar swung again at Beo, striking him and causing his head to swing to the floor.
"Tis a shame. I thought fighting Icarus Kreyn would be a lot harder a feat."
Beo's voice quivered as he spoke.
"I…I already told you…I'm not Icarus Kreyn!"
Bone sprouted again from Beo's body, this time scratching Caesar in multiple spots and forcing him farther away from himself. Beo's head readjusted itself after being dented by Caesar's previous swing.
"You'll regret striking me like that."
Nerves revealed themselves from Bo's skin and began filling the floor. Caesar stood still, treating the open wound on his face, and the nerves eventually filled the entire room, latching themselves to the walls.
"What are you up to, Icarus Kreyn?"
"... I'm done talking with you."
Caesar stopped tending to himself and ran about the room, but immediately stopped as Beo let out a hellish screech, full of true agony.
"AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!"
Beo's scream filled the room and startled Caesar, and the next thing Caesar knew was that Beo had appeared right before his eyes.
"What the…?"
Beo grabbed Caesar by the face and dragged him across the ground, throwing him against the wall and pummeling him. Blow after blow, Caesar was left without the ability to catch his breath for even a fraction of a second.
Beo stopped swinging and grabbed Caesar by the neck, lifting him against the wall.
"How… HOW DID YOU FIND ME!?!"
"Simple, bitch. I used a sense other than my sight and hearing, pure fucking pain."
"Huh?!"
"I was ever so lucky when you just allowed me to plant my nerves across the room. You played right into my game; it hurt like hell, though. In the end, I just plain outsmarted you. Suck it."
Beo lifted the middle finger of his free hand, and Caesar's anger rose, struggling even more to break free with impressive strength.
"LISTEN HERE Y-"
Two spikes of bone grew from Beo's hind arms and plummeted into Caesar, ending his life instantly. Beo threw his body across the room violently and headed toward the door.
