Chapter 1: the beginning

Roxy's POV

I sighed when I finally got into my apartment. I furrowed my brows as darkness greeted me. Looking around for a bit, I groaned and slammed my hand on the light switch a couple of times before light flooded the living room. Looking around again, it was inevitable not to notice the lack of a particular human's presence.

Breathing out, I felt my stomach rumble again. I stared down at it and walked to the kitchen. Eric, on Fridays, always made dinner because of my double shift at the restaurant. It always gave us the chance to talk about anything and everything. It was a tradition. One which he was currently disobeying.

After grabbing water from the fridge, I chugged it down and looked at the clock. It was past nine. I looked out the window and thought of calling just to make sure he was alright. Shrugging off the thought, I headed straight to the bathroom to take a long, cool shower.

"Damn," I moaned.

Showers really did wonders! I put on my skyblue loose top and wore matching shorts. From there, I headed to the kitchen to whip up something for dinner. Realizing I hadn't gone grocery shopping in a while, I decided on some spaghetti and meatballs.

Staring at the spaghetti bubbling in the stainless steel pot, I couldn't help but wonder where Eric was. I grabbed my cellphone from the counter and dialled his number.

I set my phone back on the counter when it went to his voicemail. I stirred the spaghetti before checking the clock and walking out of the kitchen. Eric had come home later than ten o'clock so there was no need to be worried, I hoped.

After I finished preparing dinner, I held a bowl of steaming hot spaghetti and walked out of the kitchen with my chopsticks. After settling on the couch, I tuned the television to one of my favorite shows.

After about an hour of paying undivided attention to criminals, the final episode of The Phishers ended. Clearing up everything I used, I went to wash the dishes and clean up the kitchen.

It was a few minutes till midnight and he still wasn't home. I picked up my phone and called again. Nibbling on my lower lip, I waited for a response. When I heard his voicemail, I breathed air out and ran my fingers through my hair.

I must've paced from left to right about a million times, convincing myself that nothing had happened to him before I heard my phone ding. Picking it up, I squinted at the illuminating screen. It was a message from Eric saying he'll be home in five.

My mouth hung slightly open as I unbelievably stared at the two-line text message from his cell. He received all my voice messages and texts but chose not to respond. He got me all worked up for nothing.

"Fuck."

I sat on the sofa much more furious than I was relieved. After a few minutes of tapping my foot against the wooden floor, I heard a knock on the door. I opened it, trying to keep my calm. "Couldn't use the door bell, could you?"

Eric smiled as his brown eyes remained on me.

Scoffing and shaking my head, I turned away and motioned to go into the apartment. Eric held my hand. "Not even a where have you been babe?"

The smirk on his face did things to my anger. I mean massively appreciate it.

"Eric, let go of my arm. Now."

After staring at me for no shorter than five seconds straight, he dropped my hand.

"Alright," He said with a knowing smirk gracing his lips. With eyes widening at his attitude, I walked straight to the kitchen. I had a long day and confrontations weren't on my to-do list.

After settling on the stool, Eric made his way in. Fuck! If only this guy knew how much I was trying to control my anger, he'd stop trying his hardest to make me explode.

"Come on, dollface. I just went out with some friends and that's all. You don't need to act childish about this."

My eyes snapped to him with a death glare and then it hit me. Of course. He was drunk. Probably stoned too. How the hell didn't I notice sooner?

I ran my fingers through my hair. "You know what Eric," I paused and looked into his eyes, "I honestly do not have the strength to deal with you right now. You come home around midnight, high off your ass and you intentionally ignore all of my calls, texts and voice messages. You get me all worried and worked up and now you're saying that I'm acting childish."

"I'm sorry about the calls and messages. I was busy and couldn't answer. I'm alright." He spread his arms for me to see with a suggestive smile.

Rolling my eyes, I stood up. I knew exactly where he was going with it. "We'll continue this conversation in the morning, probably when you're sober enough to hold a normal conversation without involving sex." I motioned to leave before I remembered dinner. "And also, if you're hungry, there's some spaghetti and meatballs in the freezer."

Immediately my head touched the pillow, I realized how tired I was. A few seconds later, I felt the other side of the bed deepen.

"You know I love you right?" Eric asked.

"I need to get some sleep now. Leave me alone." I hoped that would make him leave me in peace.

Sadly, no.

In the blink of an eye, Eric was on top of me, kissing me. He must have rolled across the bed with the speed of light.

"What the hell are you doing?" I asked him, surprisingly relaxed and trying my hardest to stay focused on getting out of his grip.

He kissed my neck. "Isn't it obvious?"

"You cunt!" I cursed.

I pinched his bicep and he lost his grip. I pinned him down to the bed immediately. I was on top of him sitting on his stomach with my hands on his neck.

"I'm gonna make love to you when I feel like it and not when your sorry drunken ass wants to! Got it?" I said. I never treated Eric this way before but he sure deserved it tonight.

He tried to kiss me but I stopped him cold.

"I'm being fucking serious."

"Fine!" He said. He rested his head on the bed and I angrily got out of the room.
