The Fight of the Alphas

Alpha Duncan stepped back into the circle around the two challengers. No one moved at first as they sized each other up. They were both around the same height and size, but Jay had been weakened from the distance from his mate while Drake was strengthened from the recent full moon. However, Jay gained power from his strong ties to his pack while Blake's pack gave him no support. For all intents and purposes, the two were evenly matched.

Jay wasn't an alpha yet, but he was in perfect unison with his wolf as they carefully watched Alpha Drake as they started to circle. Neither made a move for a while, until Alpha Drake's voice taunted, "You know, your cute little mate really is a sweetheart. It almost makes me feel bad for caging her in darkness, but then again I'll be able to let her out once you're gone."
