…..
The moon shone brightly on the dark skies littered with twinkling stars of various sizes. These quiet yet surreal view became a magnicent backdrop of the restaurant's roof top dining, with the city skyline and illuminated buildings adding to the ethereal scenery.
The cherry blossom leaves rustled at the passing night wind and the petals of the flowers got blown away and floated around the garden, right next to the terrace where a couple was seated, one of which quietly gazed at the other, who chattered away with a enthusiastic smile.
"Here's your guys' desserts." An attendant smiled before placing four different types of desserts on the table.
"Aw it's my favorite, but if I eat it I know for sure I'll freeze to death. Damn it, why did I not bring a jacket with me.' Soo Min cried inwardly, shaking her legs under the table.
"Soo Min is something wrong? I thought you loved tiramisu." Mother Song asked, surprised to see her dessert untouched.
"No mom I do, I'm just about to eat it." She smiled with trembling lips.
Ryan frowned when he noticed her eccentric behavior.
Picking up a dessert spoon, she reached her hand to scoop some of the dessert.
All of a sudden, the wind picked up and blew its cold air toward Soo Min, making her brown hair drift along with the breeze.
Clang.
Soo Min dropped her spoon on the porcelain plate, as her entire arm flooded with goosebumps.
'I can't take it anymore.' Soo Min shuddered as the coldness of the night surrounded her. Truth be told, it was partly her fault. All she wore was a fitted denim skirt paired with a gingham blouse, leaving her legs and arms exposed.
Seeing this, Ryan looked at her but didn't comment. Instead he abruptly stood up from his seat and strode quickly towards Soo Min.
Soo Min watched him intently as he made his way towards her, when all of a sudden she found her chair being dragged to the side.
In one swift motion, Ryan draped his beige coat over her shoulders, warming her up at an instant. Although no one could tell if it was really the coat or his sweet gesture that warmed her up.
"Ah…there's no need for you to give your coat to me." Soo Min wanted to push the coat away but Ryan insisted on it and so just accepted it hesitatingly. She felt bad. Now, he will be cold.
"Let's go." Ryan frowned and grabbed her arms to drag her out of the terrace and into the indoor part of the restaurant.
"Someone's become a gentleman." Noah scoffed as he stuffed a spoon of ice cream into his mouth, while Mother Song clapped her hands out of joy seeing that her son had finally started to take initiative. Now all he needed was one final push.
…..
Inside the restaurant, Soo Min stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows watching the starry sky as she waited for Ryan to return. Where did this guy disappear to?
Not long after, Ryan walked over with a warm glass of water.
"Here, drink this." He handed it to her.
Grabbing the glass, she chugged it down in one go even though she might have burnt her tongue a little.
"That feels much more better. Now time for dessert." Soo Min happily started to march over to the terrace entrance, when a strong hand grabbed her wrist and pulled her back.
"Are you really a doctor? Don't you that switching from hot to cold temperatures this fast will make you fall sick too." Ryan said with eyes full of concern.
"Well… that's true but it's not everyday I get to eat my favorite dessert, you know." Soo Min fidgeted with her fingers, pouting.
Looking at her puppy face, Ryan couldn't help but sigh in defeat.
"Okay, fine. I'll bring you here again next weekend so you can try as many desserts as you want, but just leave it be for today and don't even bother going outside, your clothes are not appropriate for this weather."
"Fine." Soo Min nodded reluctantly.
Ryan smiled softly before clasping her free hand with his and placing it inside his pant pocket. Soo Min glanced at him from the corner of her eyes, but decided not to protest.
Instead she just let it be and looked out the glass wall at the beautiful scenery in front of them.
