"Mother, don't you think we've bought a lot already? I mean..." Soo Min looked at the bags after bags and boxes after boxes carried by the bodyguards following them. She did not expect that they would end up buying so much to the point that it piled up.
"Not at all. Besides, we never get to spent time together like this, thanks to that stubborn son of mine always instructing me not to disturb you." Mother Song said in a tone full of annoyance, remembering her son's words. She then flashed a dazzling smile to Soo Min, before turning on her heels and went on in a certain direction.
"Luke and Charles, put those bags in the car first. After that, follow us into Flawless Co." Mother Song said indifferently at the bodyguards.
"Yes, madam." The two bowed their heads respectfully toward Mother Song before quickly making their way into the car.
"Now come on, my dear daughter-in-law. Let's go buy some heels!" Mother Song said gleefully before hooking her arm around Soo Min's.
…..
Flawless Co.
"Anything caught your eyes, miss?" A fashion consultant of the shop asked respectfully with a professional smile plastered on her doll-like face. She stood not far from Soo Min. With a name tag pinned on her right chest area, Soo Min noted it with a slight shake of her head.
"Not yet. I'm still looking around." Soo Min casually said, while giving a quick glance at the fashion consultant named "Stephanie." Her eyes were rippleless. "Although I do think my mother-in-law is in need of your assistance."
"Find anything Soo Min?" Mother Song asked as she picked out a few glamorous yet different types of heels, which were in the boxes carried by the few assistants trailing behind her.
"Ah. No mother. I think I'm going to pass on this one." Soo Min said with a small smile.
Only she knew how much she hated heels. Those pesky things were so tall and painful, why would someone even want to wear those. Especially after that one time she tripped and fell on Ryan onetime during that business banquet. And that accidental kiss. How embarrassing.
Kiss.
'I love you, Soo Min.' His words flashed in her mind.
Wait! Why am I thinking about that again. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.
"Get out of my head!" Soo Min frustratedly said.
"Did I say something wrong?" Mother Song paused as she looked at Soo Min, surprised by her sudden shout.
"Huh." Soo Min was taken aback, until she realized what she had said out aloud.
"Oh. No, not at all Mother. I just—"
"Soo Min. Is that you?" A deep manly voice sounded from behind her.
Soo Min turned around and looked in the man's direction who was quite familiar to her.
"Noah! What are you doing here?" Soo Min exclaimed with eyes fixed to the man who winked at her and said, "Just here to pick some things up for my sister."
"You two know each other?" Mother Song asked, shocked.
"Yeah. We went to the same high school." Noah answered.
"Yeah. What he said." Soo Min answered.
"Oh my. That's quite a surprise. Well it's good in a way, since you know at least someone else in the family." Mother Song said in a light tone.
"Family?" Soo Min asked with a creased forehead.
"Yes! Ryan and Noah are cousins. Well… more like distant relatives, but still he's family." Mother Song informed.
"How come you never told me?" Turning towards Noah, Soo Min asked still unable to process the fact.
This really is a small world. Who knew her childhood friend and fiancé are actually cousins?!
Amidst their conversation, Mother Song secretly took a picture of the two and proceeded to send it to her son.
[Mother Song: Unless you want your wife to be stolen away by some other man. I suggest you come here at once.]
Despite knowing about the rivalry between her son and Noah, Mother Song always treated the latter kindly because she did not care much for those business relationship matters. But when it came to her daughter-in-law, she did not care.
In her mind, she was determined to not lose Soo Min to any other man, and definitely not because of her useless son's incompetence.
