Starlight Mall.
"Dear, what do you think of this?" Mother Song asked in a light tone while holding up a purple chiffon dress. Her eyes sparkled a gentle light, also showing how alert she was.
With her red long dress with a long slit on the side showing her smooth and milky white long legs and her hair tied to the side with big curls, Mother Song
was like a model walking in a runway.
She had a tall stature and slim yet curvy body, she looked like someone who has never had a child. To top it all off, her skin was glowing and looked so smooth, soft, and firm making her all the more youthful looking.
'Ryan really does look a lot like his mother. No wonder he's so handsome… Wait! Park Soo Min what kind of nonsense are you spouting? Why are you thinking of him, all of a sudden?' Soo Min vigorously shook her head.
"It's beautiful, mom." Soo Min smiled.
How long had it been since she said that word. Life's most beautiful gift, but she was not fortunate enough to experience it. Nevertheless, Soo Min felt grateful to have such a kind and loving mother-in-law, who treated her like her own daughter.
"Hmm…how about this one? It had such a thin string and a low v-neck. It will give you a sexy yet formal because of the color which is black. Ooh! Look at the back! The strings are crossed over" Mother Song pulled yet another dress and happily inspected the dress.
"The fabric is also good. It's cool and isn't rough to the skin. Not to mention, Ryan will fall head over heels if he sees you in it. Ah… youth truly is a beautiful thing. Takes me back to the memories of the past when it was just the two of us." A sweet smile bloomed on Mother Song's face as she reminisced the past with her husband.
"Now all those times feel like forever ago. It's almost as if his existence is slowly fading away."
Seeing the mixed emotions brewing in Mother Song's eyes, Soo Min walked over and gently placed her hand over Mother Song's shoulder.
"Then how about telling me about how the two of you met and all the details of your sweet married life." Her words dissipated the previously bittersweet atmosphere, as Mother Song enthusiastically started talking about how her life was in the past.
…..
"What? He trained to climb Mount Everest with you? But didn't you say he was afraid of heights?" Soo Min asked, shocked with the contradicting comments.
"It's true. His family was not very accepting of me at first and already had planned to marry him off to a business partner's daughter. In fact, they even threatened to take away all his assets if he didn't break up with me." Mother Song awkwardly smiled, remembering the complications.
"Did he break up with you?" Soo Min asked, feeling a little nervous.
"Not exactly. I was the one who dumped him. I knew he wouldn't leave me, but I didn't want to burden him anymore. And so I just… left."
"…" Soo Min looked at her with a blank expression.
"Yes. I know. It was stupid of me, but back then I really believed it was the best decision for the both of us. I had moved to a different country and for the next two years, things relatively stayed the same. Around then was also when your father introduced me to your mother as they had just start dating back then."
Soo Min was taken a bit back with the sudden information about her parents' love story, but she was more curious to know what happened between Mother Song and her husband.
"There, I met him once… again. It was totally unexpected or at least that's what I thought. He was there for a summit. Turns out, he had left his family's company long back and started a new one, that grew successful within a year." Mother Song chuckled and continued.
"That man, he really was a go-getter you know. Despite my constant reluctance, he kept trying to win me over again. In my constant attempts to make him fail, I jokingly told him that if he climbs the worlds tallest mountain, then I'll get back with him."
Stirring her cappuccino with a slender spoon, Mother Song sighed and looked outside the floor to ceiling windows of the cafe that they were currently in.
"That fool actually agreed and started to train with me for the summit. And… he actually did it. He fought against his fear for me." Mother Song smiled thinking about how silly her husband was at times.
Although her mind had wandered for a bit, she was drawn back to reality by the sound of sniffing.
Looking back up, she saw Soo Min wiping back her tears.
"W—What's wrong? Dear, why are you crying?" Mother Song worriedly asked before ruffling through her bag for a handkerchief.
"Sorry. I didn't mean to—but it's just that your story was just so sweet. Father Song really loved you a lot. I honestly didn't think that such love exists in real life, but today I'm glad to be proven wrong." Soo Min smiled as she took the handkerchief that Mother Song handed her.
"Sweetheart. Thank you. I really needed this." Mother Song enveloped Soo Min's hand in hers.
"But there's one thing I want to tell you. My story won't be the only evidence for true love. Because… Ryan is just like his father." She said with a gentle look in her eyes.
Soo Min didn't know if it was because Mother Song's statement caught her off guard or if it was from their sweet love story from before, but right now her heart was filled with an inexplicable feeling of warmth.
