….
"I—I'm fine." Soo Min said in a low voice, before she continued, "I think I'm just a little tired."
"You scared me." Ryan said before hugging her tightly.
"What's wrong with me? My legs feel so jelly. I should've eaten more of those nachos when I had the chance." Soo Min said breathlessly.
"Come on. Let's get you some water. Ryan said before swiftly picking her up.
….
A couple minutes later.
The police had arrived and were investigating the crime scene. Ryan walked over to grab his coat and draped it over Soo Min's shoulders.
"That idiot must have come back revenge, but how did he get out of jail so quickly." Soo Min asked absorbed deep in thought.
"I don't think this was just because of what happened in the hospital. This time it seemed like he was working with someone else or for someone." Ryan reasoned.
"It was quite rushed and sloppy though, so it seems like whoever ordered him to do this, wanted us to catch him as if they were making us wary of him." He continued.
"Who on earth would want that?" Soo Min asked flabbergasted and annoyed. "Do they think that after killing me they can just live freely?"
"I don't think their goal was to kill you, but rather to just scare you." Ryan said as he scanned the entire place.
"What?" Soo Min asked.
"He had a hammer didn't he?" Ryan reminded.
"If they wanted to kill you, they would've strangled you, stabbed you or maybe even shot—"
"Ahhh stop stop!" Soo Min yelled covering her ears.
"Anyways, I think it's best you stay somewhere else for the night. The windows broken and it's still unsafe here." Ryan said.
"Okay. I'll call Olivia and let her know." Soo Min said, sighing.
"Alright, that would be better." Ryan said before leaning on the countertop.
…..
Inside the car.
Soo Min sat in the front waiting for Olivia to pick up her call, but each time the call went unanswered.
"Come on, pick up!" Soo Min whispered while glancing at Ryan who was focused on the road, driving.
"What's wrong is she not picking up?" Ryan asked without taking his eyes off the road.
"No. It keeps saying switched off." Soo Min responded, pulling the phone away from her ear.
"If that's the case, why don't you stay over at my house?" Ryan offered.
"What?" Soo Min gasped, but Ryan looked at her, she immediately tried to cover up her reaction, "I mean it would be inconvenient for you, I'll try and call her again."
'If I stay over at his house, who knows what might happen? That guy is unpredictable. And why isn't Olivia picking up, this fool. Never here when I need her the most.' Soo Min frowned with the constant ringing.
Turning towards Ryan she asked, "Can you drop at a nearby hotel, instead?"
"Won't you be scared alone?" Ryan asked.
"Scared? Wow, I don't believe this. Do you think I'm going to start seeing and hearing things?" Soo Min scoffed.
"From what I saw earlier, you might." Ryan countered.
"Sush!" Soo Min placed her finger in front of her face, before she said, "No. No. I was not scared but startled earlier. But now my mind is as strong as an iron."
Ryan simply didn't say anything and just switched lanes.
