Chapter 64: Date Night

One week later.

City Hospital.

Inside the operating theater, the medical team worked on the angioplasty with full focus. The anesthesiologist was on stand by making sure his dose was enough and working.

"Scalpel." Soo Min instructed.

The doctor near her promptly handed her every tool she requested. Soo Min glanced at the ECG machine to her left. Keeping all the readings in mind, she carefully proceeded with the rest of the surgery.

The first forty-five minutes put tremendous amounts of stress on everybody, due to the uncertainty they had with the rates of a successful surgery, since there were many complications in the patient's health.

"Okay. It's done. Just suture him up, and I'll inform his family." Soo Min instructed and the medical staff nodded, before they began their part.

Outside the Operating Theater.

"Thank you so much doctor. I really don't what else to say, other than me and my family are indebted to you. Saving my husband's life, you made the impossible become possible! We went to so many hospitals but no one was able to help and they all told us that even with surgery his chances of survival are low. So thank you so much!" The woman cried happily.

"Please don't say that. It's my duty to help." Soo Min consoled her, before saying, "Your husband will gain consciousness in a few hours, you can go and wait in his ward if you'd like."

The woman nodded with a smile and left with her son.

Sighing, Soo Min went and sat down in one of the chairs right outside the operating room to rest her feet. She had been standing almost for the entire day, with six surgeries back to back.

Her life had returned back to her normal, busy without a break schedule, but she wasn't complaining. In fact, she felt content.

Massaging her aching shoulders and neck, she glanced at the clock.

"It's 8:30 already? Time to leave." Soo Min smiled before getting up to go get changed.

The past few days she had been making up to her colleagues who took over her work for her, when she was sick, by taking up their night shifts, so this was the first time in a while that she finally left the hospital.

Hospital Entrance.

As soon as Soo Min stepped out of the hospital, se saw a black mercedes parked right in front and her eyes landed on the man standing right next to it.

"W—What are you doing here?" She asked as she stepped closer.

They hadn't seen each other for a few days, since Soo Min never really stepped out of the hospital and neither did she tell him that she was clocking off today.

'The only person I told was… DAD! No wonder he was constantly bugging me and asking me so many questions.' She mused.

"Taking you on a date." Ryan said with a smile, surprising Soo Min.

At the movie theaters.

"Wait here. I'll go get us some snacks." Ryan said before walking over to stand in line.

Soo Min nodded and looked around the bustling place, before she walked to an empty seat and sat down.

For some reason, today felt more exhausting than usual. She took out her phone and decided to scold her dad for playing such tricks on her.

"Oh my god. Look who we have here…. if it isn't Park Soo Min." A woman haughtily spoke.

The moment Soo Min heard the voice, she internally cursed her fate.

"Luna. It's been a long time. How have you been?" Soo Min put on a fake smile.

Why did she always have to deal with such troubling people? Especially now, when she already felt so tired.

"Quite good actually. Alex and I just returned from our holiday in the Maldives. As you know, he works for Glamour, that famous fashion company, so he rarely gets days off." Luna boasted whilst hugging the man's arm tightly, as if she were a leech.

"Oh I see." Soo Min nonchalantly said, before going back to texting her dad. 'I need to get out of here, as soon as possible. If Ryan comes here, it'll only create a bigger mess. I don't think he would really care to see my ex here, but still I don't think Luna would walk away quietly.'

Alex and Soo Min had briefly dated for a couple months when they were in high school, but broke up immediately after Soo Min found out that he was cheating on her with her then best friend, Luna.

It was at that point of time, when Soo Min realized that love was just not meant for her and found all this 'finding you soulmate' thing to be just a load of crap, and decided to just focus on herself and her career.

"Well it was nice meeting you, but I gotta leave so I guess I'll see you guys around?" Soo Min smiled and turned around to leave.

"Soo Min!"

Upon hearing his voice, Soo Min squeezed her eyes shut in pure pain. This day seemed to keep getting progressively worse, not to mention this throbbing feeling in her head.

"Where are you going? Our movie is about to start." Ryan said walking towards her with two sodas and a large popcorn.

"I was just…"

"Soo Min, I didn't know you had a boyfriend?" Luna said scanning Ryan from top to bottom. 'How did this slut manage to catch on to such a handsome man? But why does he look so familiar?'

When she felt her boyfriend's arm trembling, she immediately turned to look at Alex's pale face.

'And what's wrong with him?' Luna frowned looking at her boyfriend.

"Soo Min aren't you gonna introduce us?" Luna pressed on.

Ryan frowned when he noticed something wrong with Soo Min.

"Actually, i'm Soo Min's husband, Ryan Song." He introduced and everyone's jaw dropped.

Not only were the couple standing there, mouth agape, but even Soo Min was surprised by the word 'husband'.

It was quite foreign to her.
