Chapter 21: The Alliance

.....

"What?!" Soo Min and Ryan yelled in chorus and stood up abruptly. Hearing the word 'alliance.'

"Well that's why we are all here today. To discuss your marriage." Mother Song informed with a smile.

Both Soo Min and Ryan stood there, mouth agape.

"Your marriage... your marriage... your marriage..."

These were the words that kept on echoing in Soo Min and Ryan's ears. It took them a while to finally acknowledge and process the fact that those words had indeed come out from Mother Song's mouth, before snapping back to reality.

"My marriage with him/her?! No way!" Another word in the chorus from Soo Min and Ryan was heard.

"Why is there a problem with that, Ryan?" Mother Song questioned with raised eyebrows and stared at her son with bloodshot eyes.

Mother Song's son often escaped from her clutches when it came to this marriage topic, but today she was not going to give in, especially not after finding the perfect bride for him.

"Y—Yes! Why do I need to get married with this woman?" Ryan asked as he pointed towards Soo Min.

"Hey! Don't make it seem like you're doing me a favor either. I have no intention nor interest to live the rest of my life with someone like you!" Soo Min protested and flicked Ryan's finger away from her.

"We have given the two of you enough freedom and time to choose your significant others! Now then, can you tell us the outcome of that?!" Father Park questioned putting the two of them in a tight spot.

"Exactly! So you two brought this up on yourselves. Now sit down and let the adults do the talking." Father Park firmly voiced.

He was not known as the fierce tiger in the business world for nothing. Just one look from him and all those self-indulgent and snobbish board members would instantly shut up.

"I agree with Jason, and besides Ryan, you are not getting any younger. You are already twenty six years old. Just how long do you think, you can put off your marriage, huh?" Mother Song questioned.

Soo Min and Ryan fell back into their seats in a state of tremendous shock. Their parents were already planning the engagement venue and the guest list. Not to mention even potential honeymoon locations.

'What do I do? I can't get married with him.'

'There is no way that I'm going to marry her.'

While the two of them were busy figuring out how to get out of this mess, their parents had already come up with a plan of their own.

"Alright then it's settled! The engagement will be on the 16th of this month and it will be held in the Sapphire Hotel." Father Park informed.

"What?! But that's next week!" Ryan stated with a frown, while Soo Min just observed silently. One thing that was clear to her now was that, their parents were not going to back off easily.

"I know right! I wanted to do it this weekend but it would have been too much of a short notice for the guests." Mother Song jested.
