Chapter 100: Devil’s Promise

CEO's Office.

Assistant Yoon watches the possessed demon with complete disbelief. If anything, the scene unfolding in front of him is more creepy than anything.

Ryan leans back in his chair, arms behind his head, smiling at ceiling remembering last night. Finally, his little fiancé is breaking her walls with him. Calling him hers, like all the times he called her his.

At first he was scared that she might reciprocate his feelings, not that he would let her go, but he still wanted her to not feel obligated to do anything. He wanted her to love him on her own accord.

But yesterday dissipated all his worries. He could see that under the indifferent mask she likes to portray to the outside world, that he really did affect her. All he had to do now was wait for that mask to crack. Or… help speed up the process.

"Boss…" Assistant Yoon said cautiously, not wanting to wake up the possessed the devil. "The actress that we wanted to sign on for the product placement had to leave due to scheduling conflict, so we're currently looking for someone else. However…"

"The director recommended his former student and she is a perfect fit for the job. But her identity…" Assistant Yoon paused threading her words carefully.

Ryan broke from his stupor. "What's wrong?"

"Actually she is-"

The heavy sound of heels grew nearer and nearer before a pair of red heels abruptly stopped in front of the glass doors of the CEO's office.

"Hey Ryan. It's nice to see you… again" Anastasia smiles before stepping inside with her assistant following closely behind.

All signs of happiness almost immediately dissipate from his face. Why was this headache everywhere?

A young, glowing woman stepped foot into the foyer of Glamour. She wore a gorgeous black dress with a long leather jacket draped over and paired it with white boots that reached right below her knees.

It was a casual yet cosy winter outfit and it contrasted with her porcelain skin. In her hand was a little lunch bag.

All the employees stared at her with awe as she waited for the elevator to arrive. Everyone knew who she was. Their boss's fiancé.

But seeing her in real life was like an angel descending from heaven. Something about her attracted them, it was not just her appearance but about her aura.

While to outsiders it seemed like she was a happy woman, eager to meet her fiancé and give him the lunch she passionately made for him, that… was really not that case.

'If it wasn't for that cunning fox, I wouldn't even have to be here.' Soo Min fisted her hands recollecting how Ryan was teasing her in the car and the only way to stop him was if she promised to bring him lunch tomorrow as she had a day off.

"What do you want?" Ryan nonchalantly spoke.

"I'm here on Director Kim's recommendation to help you out. You're short one actor for the advertisement right? It's perfect because I'm looking for a deal to reintroduce me into the industry back at home."

"No. That's what you're saying but that's not what you're really here for." Ryan said, his eyes hinting at the demon locked inside of him.

He was not gonna let this woman destroy his relationship with his fiancé.

"Ryan… I just want to help you." Anastasia said softly with unshed tears.

"We'll find someone else. You can leave." Ryan said in a nonnegotiable tone.

"Is this because of our past? You feel uncomfortable seeing me everywhere, worried that old feelings might rekindle and you'll leave that fiancé of yours?" Anastasia abruptly stands up, slamming the table with her hands.

"Ryan. You don't love her at all. I know you still care for me. I know your mother forced you into this marriage. Break it off, Ryan. Please give me a chance. I'll never leave you, again."

Ryan's expression remains bored as you continued to type on his laptop.

"Assistant Yoon, see Miss Sokolov out."

Assistant Yoon nods before attempting to escort the two women out, however the stubborn actress won't leave.

"If you really feel nothing, then why can't you let me do this job. You never used to mix personal feelings with business. Or are you afraid your little fiancé will leave you when she sees that you still haven't moved on from us?" She said with viciousness, not realizing the consequences.

Ryan's eyes turn bloodshot not because what Anastasia said was true. All his feelings died a long time ago, however her threat of his fiancé leaving him unleashed the demon inside him. These days, a lot of people threatened him about her leaving him. Whether it was his ex or the woman herself.

The elevator door dinged as it opened at the top floor of the company. Soo Min smiled and greeted at all the employees as she walked towards Ryan's office.

Just as she was about to open the door, the voices from inside stopped her.

"Are you afraid that her little heart will shatter into pieces when she finds out that her fiancé is still in love with his ex girlfriend? I'm sure she'd leave you right away, don't you think?" A familiar voice spoke with envy.

Soo Min tried to remember where she had heard that voice. It was so much like… THAT WOMAN's. Her head throbbed upon realizing that person's identity. Why was that troublesome woman everywhere?

Before heaving a long sigh, Soo Min opened the door and stepped inside the office.

CEO's office.

"I don't care what you say about me. But don't you ever talk about my fiancé from that filthy mouth of yours. She's nothing like you. And you're right, I don't mix business with personal feelings. However that was before I met my wife. If there's anything in this world that would cause her the slightest discomfort, I'll destroy it. I don't care if I have to kill a person, but I won't let a single strand of her go amiss." Each one of his words carried a heavy weight and a silent promise.

Soo Min's heart fluttered when she heard him. There was a man in this world who worshipped everything about her. A devil that would burn the world for her. Her devil.

Before her heart jumped out of her ribcage, she quickly calmed herself and walked over to the coffee table in the mini lounge space, setting the lunchbox down with a small thud that made her presence known.

When Ryan's eyes landed on her, his expression softened. Anastasia however, glared at her.

Soo Min stifled a yawn, dramatically. "You guys continue, I'll wait over here." Her bored expression set in stone as she scrolled through social media.

"Leave. My fiancé's here and we would like to spend sometime together." Ryan said before security came over to help Assistant Yoon kick the two women out.

Soo Min continued to focus harder on her phone acting as if his words had not effect on her.
