Chapter 4

It has been a while since Adan and the Gold Mark started their stare-off. The people around them had already started ignoring the two in favor of blocking the door that was causing quite the ruckus.

As the door to the entrance of the auditorium gave one last bang before it quite down, the Gold Mark instantly checked his phone and read the instructions of the Diary.

Looking like he was was done reading, Gold Mark quickly looked around the room in anxiety. Adan looked at him with a questioning look and thought, 'What's going to happen next again? Fuck, it's been 12 years since I've read the novel.'

Finding it to be too tiring to worry himself over, Adan walked towards a corner of the auditorium and sat down on the floor. He then rested his chin on his right pal as he watched the people with him panic as the Gold Mark guy shouted, "Everyone run!"

Hearing him shout that, Adan looked at the crowd in confusion. Weren't the contracted supposed to be fighting with the Silver Mark guy? What happened?

Before he could even delve more into what should have happened, the floor suddenly erupted and multiples chains appeared. As the chains appeared, Adan looked at the two kids near it curiously.

'This is the part where the little girl dies for the first time, isn't it?'

Not waiting for anyone to answer, Adan quickly stood up and 'jogged' towards the pair of siblings. Well, at least that's what he remembers them as.

Appearing beside them in less than a second, Adan lazily backhanded the hook attached to the chain coming towards the siblings.

The people around him gasped in shock at this 'shocking development' but quickly got over it as they ran out of the auditorium when the doors conveniently opened.

While some of the people ran, Adan then thought, 'Why in the world is this scenario playing out in a different matter? Didn't the doors only open AFTER the monster appeared? Is this what they call a butterfly effect?'

Adan looked at the hole in front of him as the pair of siblings hid behind his back. Seeing a head suddenly appear from the hole, Adan glanced towards the Gold Mark and saw that he was oddly calm for someone who reincarnated to the past. Albeit in a failed manner.

He then looked around the room again and saw that there were two other occupants with them. The Thicc girl he saw earlier and the other Silver Mark.

When he was done looking around, the monster he was expecting from the novel/manhwa he read finally appeared. And it was uglier than the manhwa portrayed it to be as. What the fuck? The monster fits the description in the novel to a T.

It had a human-like appearance, with long unkempt hair, it's head at least four times the size of a grown adult man's head, it has a single giant eye that takes up almost half of that large head.

(A/N: The description above is from the fandom page cause I don't exactly know how to describe the monster except that it's really creepy and one might have nightmares seeing it.)

Adan looked at the monster in disgust and silently gestured the Gold and Silver Marks to huddle with the two siblings behind him. Seeing that the Thicc girl was a little further from the two, Adan manipulated his mana and 'telekinetically' pulled her towards him.

After making sure that the Thicc girl was behind him already, Adan silently thanked Acedia and Avaritia for training on how to use his mana correctly.

When all of the other occupants were finally behind him, Adan silently had a stare-off with the monster in front of him. After a few seconds, the monster finally flinched as Adan then said, "Out. Get your ugly ass face out of here."

The monster flinched again as it silently walked towards the front door and got out of the auditorium when he heard Adan say that.

The people behind Adan looked at him in amazement and shock. How did he do that? That was the question ringing inside their minds at the moment.

Seeing that there was no more monster, Adan silently walked towards the hole and stopped only when he was just a push away from falling.

He then turned around and addressed the group in front of him and said, "I don't know what you guys are planning to do right now and I don't care about your welfare anymore. What I did earlier? That was just a one-time thing. I don't know you and you don't know me. So goodbye."

Adan then jumped into the hole after pinching his nose like he was going scuba diving. The group looked at him in shock and immediately ran towards the hole and could only see darkness when they looked down into it.

Adan was confused. How was he going to do the tutorial without a phone?

He then sighed in frustration and stuffed his hands in his pockets and just walked around aimlessly, 'Maybe he can find a dead body and take their phone? Nah that would be just too con-'

Well, would you look at that! A dead body that was holding their phone!

Adan smiled in amusement and sauntered towards the body and plucked the phone from its owner as he crouched down to get it.

He then stood up and opened the phone and was surprised. It seems that it works for him too! Heh, he was definitely going to be breezing through this!

Frustration. That's what he felt. Pure and adultered frustration.

How the fuck can he climb up to three fucking stairways and still not arrive at his destination!? And to add fuel to the fire, he arrived in what looks like a convenience store or something!

He then let out a deep breath and said, "You know what? Fuck it! I'm going in there and loot all the things I want."

"Ooooo, is that ramen? Let me have some of that! Hmmmm, what are in these boxes? Oh! Are these bento boxes or something like that? Then don't mind if I do!"

"Banana Milk? Meh, I'm thirsty too so might as well."

"Oooo, Soju drinks? But I already have some Banana Milks though... Meh, I have Greed as one of my Authorities so might as well be greedy, hehehehehe."

"Noice! Chips and Jellies! Now, this I like!"

After looting whatever he liked. Adan finally left the convenience store with a satisfied smile while thinking, 'Maybe that was a lucky encounter after all.'

"Grills? Hmmmm, aha! I think I remembered the tutorial having these grills to have the first person to own these so they can decide on who they want to let in!"

Adan just shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly and walked towards the grills and when he was only inches away from it, he broke the floor with a stomp of his foot and threw a little piece of the rubble towards the red and shiny button.

As the grills started opening themselves for him, Adan gave it a victorious smile and proudly said, "Ha! This is so EZ! This is like making a smurf account and playing against the noobs."

He then walked up the stairs lazily and raised an eyebrow when he sees that he was the first one to arrive. What in the world? If he's the only one around here, what was the point in throwing that piece of rubble!?

When Adan looked like he was about to rage, he suddenly felt someone walk up the stairs behind him and turned around.

And surprise, surprise! It was the guy that was wearing a green bandana! And it seems like the dude was an invitee with the bronze/brown bag on his side.

"How?"

Adan tilted his head slightly as he heard that, "Huh? What do you mean how?"

"How did you enter my stairway? Only the person registered to the barrier can open it through the button. So how?"

Adan looked quite surprised at that information. Only the regis-wait! Does that mean that he did something impossible or extremely lucky? Is it the [Mark of the 7 Goddesses] working its magic or did he break the barrier when he walked through?

The only thing that Adan could give the guy as an answer was, "Honestly? I don't know too. I thought that if I somehow pressed the red and shiny button then the bars or grills down there would open by itself."

"W-What? You really don't know? But how-, never mind that. You're the Diamond Mark guy or something, right?"

"Hmm? Is that what you guys are calling me?" Adan raised an eyebrow at the bandana-wearing guy.

The bandana-wearing guy then shrugged his shoulders and said, "What do you expect us to call you? We don't even know your name."

"Oh, then nice to meet you, bandana-wearing guy. The name's Adan," Adan said while giving the person in front of him a cheeky smile.

The bandana-wearing guy's right eyebrow started twitching when he heard what Adan called him and said, "My name is Hyun Sangmin. Not bandana-wearing guy," with a wry smile present on his face.

Adan opened his mouth to say something but was interrupted by the sounds of feet running. Or that what it sounds to him.

He then closed his mouth as he looked in the direction where the sound was coming from and saw a fatty, a pretty lady, and a young girl running in their direction.

Seeing that Adan was looking at something and heard footsteps coming towards them, Hyun Sangmin looked at where Adan was looking at and saw the family of three.

The family then stopped running when they saw that they were finally beside Adan and Hyun Sangmin and let out a deep sigh of relief.

Seeing that Adan wasn't interested in interacting with the three, Hyun Sangmin immediately stepped forward and introduced himself and Adan. When Adan heard his name being introduced, he only gave them a nod of acknowledgment and then minded his own business again.

He then closed his eyes and concentrated a bit. Adan then had his senses waft over the whole school property and noticed that there were only 9 people left alive aside from the people that are with him.
