Chapter 4 Ajax vs Horned Bear
Standing on its hind legs, the towering horned bear looked at the group of ape before it. Although extremely angry after being woken up from its nap, it noticed an even more powerful aura then it. It glanced at the two apes that was behind the young apes and noticed that they were even more powerful itself and hesitated whether or not to attack. Then suddenly, the two apes that it was cautious of suddenly leaped up from their previous position and disappeared. Relieved and confused by their disappearance, it looked at the four apes before it and roared once again, thinking that these apes will be his food after they woke him up from his nap.
"Father are you really expecting just 4 young apes to handle this strong beast?" Ajax said questionably.
Waiting for an answer that never came, he looked back and saw that both the two older apes were not there. Damn. The other apes also noticed Ajax's question and looked back with him expecting and answer. They really became scared of dying and was terrified of the horned bear that stood with it noticing its glance at it looked at them like food.
Seeing them scared, Ajax said, " Don't be afraid, remember what they said at the beginning that they will interfere if we are in a life or death threatening situation and that they will handle anything that they deem to strong for us to handle. Since they left us like that then it seems like they believe that we can handle this situation ourselves".
Hearing Ajax's words, they have seemed to calmed down a bit and grew incredibly serious as this would be their strongest prey they have yet to face. Though saying this, Ajax was also trying to stay calm but knew that this prey is stronger than it seems seeing that its defense is incredibly high and it would be a hard battle and a close one. Ajax took the front with the other three surrounding it keeping their distance but close enough that they could quickly help each other if needed. After a quick comparance of stats Ajax was relieved that at least he could keep up with the speed of the horned bear. Shouting out loud as if declaring that he will fight head on, he charged at the horned bear with the wooden spear. Seeing this, the horned bear felt as if he was looking at easy prey. But this was just a feint of Ajax. As he thrust out his spear towards the abdomen area but it stopped short as if knowing that the bear could easily sweep it away with its large paws and came straight up towards the heart with his full strength hoping to get lucky despite its high defense. As Ajax was already trained in all sorts of weapons in his past life pulling this move was simple for him. As the wooden spear entered the horned bear, it stopped short of an inch in its body before stopping. It felt as if the puncture didn't do anything to it. Like dipping the tip of a finger into a body of water creating barely any ripples and effect to the water.
"Damn looks like a one hit kill is too much it seems" Said Ajax as he laughed at himself for thinking too much.
As he pierced the horned bear, the horned bear saw that its paw missed the spear that it was coming towards it and felt a slight pain towards his heart. This made it even more angry as a weak creature such as this can hurt it. It roared and swiped down at the ape that managed to hurt it however small the injury it seemed. As the huge palm came swiping down from the side, Ajax ducked and managed to dodge the palm that was coming at it and jumped a few feet back keeping the distance.
Suddenly, Ajax said, "Now".
As the other apes heard their cue to attack, they rushed at full speed and managed to pierce its fur too but it also didn't do much as their spear stopped short of inflicting any major damages. Feeling the inflicting damage the bear grew even more serious and angry as it felt its injury happening. The horned bear however didn't take much notice in the other apes as it noticed that the ape that managed to trick it was the leader if the other apes as it seemed smarter and directing them. So, the horned bear decided to take care of it first and the others would come after. The horned bear charged at the Ajax with its horn pointing towards him. Seeing this, Ajax also began to run forward, as he ran, he was on all his two hind legs so that he could make agile movements and also attack faster than if he was on all four with the spear in hand. As the horn was coming quicker and quicker to him, he suddenly made a sidestep to the right with the horn just piercing him the next second but missed. As Ajax side stepped out of harms way, he thrust his wooden spear into its necking. This time he inflicting more damage as when he pulled out although the wound was deeper, it wasn't deep enough to kill it but it caused more bleeding on the horned bear.
Seeing that the ape has again managed to injure it again, the horned bear became even more angry and roared and swiped his palm to his right side and managed to scratch the ape across from his chest. It also felt several spear strikes from the left side of him and noticed that it was the other apes that continued to surround him and look for opportunities to strike at him.
Feeling the scratch across from him, Ajax felt the pain coming from it and felt slight blood trickling down his chest. Luckily he was a bit faster and managed to survive that short fight. Seeing his other friends taking the opportunities to strike he was relieved that he would not need to tell them what to do every time and could look for opportunities to strike themselves.
"Good, lets keep going like that and eventually it would bleed out and we can finish him off when he is almost dead" Ajax shouted to the others.
Nodding in agreement, this continued on for another 10 minutes with Ajax side stepping and leaping over exchanging minor wounds for major wounds on the horned bear. Noticing this tactic that was coming over and over again, the horned bear grew even more injured as it kept accumulating weakening the horn bear greatly. Enraged as its eyes grew red it roared charging at Ajax that was causing the most damage to it. But just as the horned bear was about to come into contact with Ajax that dodged its attack, it suddenly dash with its fastest speed to the ape closest to it. It was Matt. As Matt saw the coming beast, it tried to side step like Ajax but his speed was not as fast as Ajax and failed and got hit by the large palm that came at it and was thrown back flying until he hit a tree falling unconscious. As the horned bear was about to take its life by charging at the unconscious ape, Ajax ran towards it hoping to stop it by directing its attention. Seeing Ajax running towards it, the other two ape also ran towards too hoping to finish it with Ajax and saving their friend.
But as they came close the horned bear knew that they would come and stop it and turned around and stood up on its hind legs swiping his left palm coming across the two other apes and lastly coming towards Ajax. Bam the hit was successful as it managed to knock away all three apes that came at it. It managed to critically damage the other two apes as they were wounded severely and sent flying falling onto the ground not falling unconscious but unable to get up quickly as a large amount of blood was pouring out from their chest.
As Ajax saw the palming coming towards him, he took the chance to quickly bring up his spear and holding it vertically in front of him hoping for it to block some of the impact. As the palm made contact with the wooden spear, it broke in half and he was sent flying onto the ground several feet away from the horned bear. Feeling the aching pain coming across his whole body as he landed on the floor, he struggled to get up and looked at his other friends that was sent flying, he saw that they were not dead or unconscious but unable to get up and help him in the meantime. As Ajax managed to get up and stand, he saw the nearby spear that was dropped from Matt, he picked it up and looked at the horned bear getting ready to finish him off for good. Ajax thought that it was his last chance as to take out the bear as the others were already unable to battle and he did not want to die yet as his journey in this world has barely begun.
As the two begin to glare at each other and make their preparations, they both suddenly moved and charged at one another, one with its horn was pointing towards the other and the other charging with both broken and full spear. Ajax decided to put three points into his strength and two points into speed filling him with power he hasn't felt before. Suddenly, Ajax threw Matt's spear at the bear with his new strength. As the bear saw the spear coming with greater strength it suddenly stopped making preparations to block and stop the spear from coming towards. It lowered its large sharp horn to fend off the spear that was flying towards it. Seeing this, Ajax ran straight up to the bear and not taking any chances thrust his broken spear straight up into the horn bear's heart pierced all the way through. 'ding" a ring sounded in his head. Hearing this sound Ajax finally knew that he has killed the bear. Ajax fell onto the ground and faced the sky that was slowly descending into darkness. Panting Ajax looked at the new notification that popped up.

After seeing his new stats and feeling the power that came with it, Ajax decided to invest the next few stat points into his defense so he can be more confident of taking hits. Ajax was also surprised by how his dexterity has increased in level. After thinking about it, it must've been because of the short and intense movements he made while avoiding most of the horn bear's attack and attacking with precision.
After the battle the his father and Mathew came down to them and to inspect their injuries. After confirming their injuries and that they were still alive, King Adros, his father, came up to him and said "well done son, well done".
"yes father" Ajax replied in an exhausted voice.
