Chapter 3 First Kill

Jumping from tree to tree led by his father, Ajax noticed how many apes were coming to them and estimated their numbers. There were about 200-300 apes with them and his father separated them in groups of 15 with two older apes leading them. King Adros led them to many parts of the forest of where they could find food and beasts to hunt for the night. His father however it was just him and three other younger apes and a older ape that came with them to hunt. The three younger apes that came with him were Mark, Matt, and Max the few apes that he actually played with throughout his early years since coming into the world. With wooden spears at hand he noticed that the spear was fairly large and was about 5 feet long and arms width making it fairly durable and strong. The end point was also sharp to the point that if thrusted hard enough, it can penetrate most average creatures easily. Ajax also noticed that only the leaders of each group held bows and arrows and his father carried nothing on him.

" We are going to hunt something more powerful. Since you are my son, do not disappoint me" King Adros said.

" Yes father" Ajax replied.

As they continue to jump tree to tree and swinging on some vines, King Adros said, "we will only help you three when we feel as though you come across a stronger prey or you are in a life or death situation"

Nodded in agreement the three continued to follow the two older apes. Soon, they came across a large boar about 4 feet tall. It was currently eating its food that was in front of. It had two large tusks that curved upwards with strange carvings on its side that ran across its body. It had a small slightly curled up tail behind it near the rear end. As Ajax saw it he continued to look it at and observe its size and strength, a 'ding' sounded in his head.

Learned 'observation' Looking at the new skill he obtained he looked at the large boar again.

Seeing this Ajax grew excited but quickly grew serious as he saw that its strength and defense was higher than his. As he continued to look one of the other younger apes moved a little and a near branch dropped to the ground. As soon as the branch hit the ground, the ferocious boar was alerted and noticed the apes with the wooden spears in their hands. Knowing what the apes have come for, it grew enraged and started charging at the tree that were on. Seeing that they quickly moved from their current tree as they knew that it may be strong enough to take down their current tree and leave them vulnerable. However the ape that made the noise was slightly slower than the rest and slipped and fell onto the ground as the tree came falling down. Frightened now that he was on equal grounds of the beast, he became frightened as he saw the boar charging towards and cried for help as was tried to find his spear that laid beside him. Seeing this, Ajax adrenaline spiked as he saw a chance to help a fellow ape and an opening on the large boar as it charge at the ape on the ground.

Ajax leaped forward onto the closest tree by the boar and leaped even higher towards the boar with the spear in hand with its sharp point aiming towards the back of the boars head. Since a young age since camping with his father in the past life, he taught ajax and their siblings how to hunt, although with different weapons, Ajax was familiar with hunting prey. As Ajax's spear fell towards the boar a piercing sound came forth as it made contact with the boar. 'ding' a sound came in Ajax's head.

"Killed a ferocious boar"

"Exp gained 15"

"Killed in one hit?" Ajax said in his head.

With the bloody spear still stuck in his head, Ajax looked at the notification. He looked back at the spear and noticed that spear had rung through the head with its pointed end under its jaw.

"Seems like this spear is more durable than I had thought" said Ajax.

After killing the boar, the other apes came down and checked on the ape that fell and came to the boar and saw that it was killed in one hit.

Surprised and excited the younger apes said "wow you are so strong to be able to kill it with one hit" The ape on the ground also saw that his life was saved and quickly came and thanked Ajax for saving him earlier. The other older ape also nodded and said good job to Ajax. Ajax looked towards his father and saw that he just nodded at him. Ajax guessed that this should at least be expected of his son. The older ape had been carrying something fairly large on his back that was meant to strung up beasts of several sizes and quickly strung up the boar on his back.

"Let's go we still have to hunt more" King Adros said.

Everyone nodded in agreement and climbed on top of the tree and began jumping and swinging again to their destination. As they went on, they came across several lone boars and hunted with cautious this time swiftly killing them as they learned and copied Ajax's first strike on the boar. Ajax was curious and used his new skill 'observation' on the three younger apes and the older one.

As Ajax saw all their stats and compared them with himself, he thought that his stats were fairly higher than the younger apes and knew that he was somewhat more stronger than them. He was also surprised at the level of the older ape that was with them as he saw that he had a higher level. Ajax then looked at his father. He was surprised as he saw his father's stats.

"damn that's strong" Ajax said as he saw this.

As they continued to hunt Ajax looked at his stats again.

As he saw his stats, he nodded at his exp since he hunted around 4 boars while on their journey. After travelling for about another hour, they arrived at their destination. Ajax was surprised as he saw their target. It was the horned bear. It was huge, it apeared to be 5 and half feet big that was just when it was sleeping. Its fur was black as night and it was even shining under the sun where it slept. He saw the horn that was sticking out of his forehead. It was shooting straight up 6 inches out of his head. It was sharp to a point that it looked like it could pierce through hard armor from the knights that was in medieval times. It was currently resting out in the open unleashing an ominous aura that made several weak creature stay away from his while sleeping.

Looking at the horned bear, King Adros said " That is your target young apes".

Looking at the the horned bear, the young apes began shivering from fear as they noticed its aura. They looked at the bear and at their king making sure if it was really their target. Seeing the nod from their king, they grew even more fearful. Ajax however decided to take a closer look with his skill. He was surprised at what he saw.

"Damn wtf. a Lvl 5 is already this strong?" Ajax said as he saw the stats.

As the group was still staring at the bear. It was that ape again. It was Matt that stepped on a twig underneath his foot. 'crack' The group looked at Matt and sighed hoping that the horned bear didn't notice. But they hoped was crushed when they saw the twitch of an ear from the horned bear. As the horned bear slowly woke up, it saw the group of apes. As it was disturbed from its rest, it was enraged and unleashed a loud roar standing on its hind legs. As Ajax saw how big it really was, he saw that it appeared to be about 8 foot tall with its ominous aura being fully expended.

" Damn... here goes nothing" said Ajax as he looked at the towering horned bear.
