Chapter 20 Bear tribe

Looking at his map, Ajax found a location of where to hunt. Out of the four tribes that attacked Jerry's tribe, the bear tribe was the most simple tribe to hunt. They were aggressive and territorial. They also possessed the least amount of intelligence. He don't know how the mammoth tribe was able to make the others attack Jerry's tribe but he will find out later. Because of their numbers and intelligence, the four tribes were not too big to be considered on a level of their own monkey tribes. Ajax decided that they would bring down the population of the four tribes to half of their numbers which will make it easier for them when they confront the mammoth tribe. Although, Ajax would like to simply destroy the four tribes completely, it would disrupt the balance of the forest.

Their destination was on the outskirts of of the bear tribe's boundary. First they will slowly take care of the horned bears around it and slowly work their way in.

" Let's go take care of the bear tribe first" said Ajax as he led the way.

Nodding their head in agreement, they followed behind Ajax. Swinging and jumping from tree to tree, they soon reached the outskirts about half a day later until they reach the outskirts of their destination.

" Remember, we are not here to completely wipe out any beast tribes in the forest. It will only create more chaos" said Ajax as he stood on a tall branch and looked around their location.

"Okay I understand, I just want to find out why my tribe was massacred" replied Jerry.

Slowly looking around, the three silently moved from tree to tree. 'booom'boom' not far from where they were, the three apes could hear the sound of collisions ahead of them. As they moved closer and closer, the three saw two large groups of bears surrounding two other larger bears that were currently in a clash. On one side of the bears, you can tell that they were the horned bears that the three were used to facing. On the other side of the horned bears were a group of bears he haven't seen before but recognized through his system and his reading in the archive.

" looks like this bear has a skill. Maybe if I find a core inside this bear and am able to consume it, I'll be able to get that skill." thought Ajax.

Looking around, there were about 5 to 10 bears on both sides but they were fairly weaker than the two bears that were fighting.

" Be ready. since these bears don't seem to be the main force of the bear tribe, we'll kill them all." said Ajax.

Ajax's plan was simple, watch the fight until it seems like one is about to fight, then deal the finishing blow and boom, dramatic entrance and then finish everybody off.

As the three prepared to fight, the battle between the two stronger bears were beginning to slow down with the many injuries that both of them caused to each other. As the horned bear was beginning to make his last effort to kill the other bear, black smoke began to leak out from the nightmare bear's body. It soon covered it body and as the horned bear made its last dash with its horn piercing towards its opponent, it went through the smoke and missed entirely, with the bear still standing there. As the horned bear was about to turn around, it saw the nightmare bear lunging at it straight for the neck wanting to tear its head off. As the nightmare bear was about to reach the horned bear, 'swoosh' a sword ran through the horned bear's head killing it one blow.

'ding'

Smiling at the exp gained, he used the chance as all of the bears were stunned at what they saw to jump down right in front of the nightmare bear with his right knee on the ground and the other leg bent in a position to cushion the blow with his right hand assisting. His left hand was behind him holding the spear. " Superhero landing completed"

While the other bears were still stunned, the other two landed right beside him also trying to copy his landing style, but both of them stumbled and because of Jerry's heavy body and all of his equipment, he had trouble standing up because of the impact.

Seeing his chance to attack, Ajax used this opportunity to bring up his spear and pierce through the nightmare bear. However, Ajax felt no resistance or tension going through the body. He looked towards the nightmare bear and saw that its body has suddenly been covered in a black smoke.

"Take care of the other bears while I deal with this one." said Ajax.

"Okay." replied the two.

Seeing the situation, all the bears surrounding roared and charged at them. When Jerry saw this, he got excited at the chance to use his new weapon and armor. He also charged at them and when he reached the bears that were charging at them, he swung his large bludgeon and knocked all of them back a few feet. He looked to the side and saw that one horned bear was about to pierce his side. 'swoosh' not far behind him, Tim came and sliced through the head of the horned bear. With Tim's and Ajax strength and experience of fighting the horned bears, they were already enough to handle the group of bears before them.

Seeing Tim at his side, Jerry no longer cared for anything around him and just continued to run towards the other bears trying to bash them.

Seeing the two fighting, Ajax once again focused his attention on the opponent before him. Since the nightmare bear was already injured and tired out, he felt like his battle wouldn't be too long. He just needed to figure out the skill of the nightmare bear. Jumping backwards, he wanted to gain a bit of distance to see the extent of the ability. Seeing that the bear was still covered in the black smoke, he stood there waiting for the nightmare bear to make the first move. And it did, as it ran towards Ajax. Seeing the bear running towards him, he got ready to dodge. As it was his first encounter with the nightmare bear, he wanted to test out its movements and attack habits so he wanted to get up and personal. Seeing the large paw that was swung towards him, Ajax took a leap back. He grabbed a few rocks on the ground and threw them towards the nightmare bear.

As the rocks came at the nightmare bear, it went straight pass it. Seeing that none of his attacks were working, Ajax decided to take the incoming attack since he was faster and stronger than the nightmare bear he might as well take the hit. Standing in place, he watched as the nightmare bear was coming towards him. As the paw came down towards his face, he reached out with his spear to block the paw, but it did not go as expected. The paw went through the spear and continued onto Ajax's face.

Seeing the strike coming down, Ajax did not expect the strike to pass through his weapon, he tried his best to move away from the attack but was scratched down to his chest. Moving away, Ajax looked down at his chest and saw that it was bleeding moderately and felt an intense sting on his scratch. As Ajax looked up at the nightmare bear he saw that the smoke was starting to dissipate and soon disappear. As soon as the smoke disappeared, the nightmare bear fell to its knees and looked extremely exhausted. Seeing the exhausted nightmare bear, Ajax used this chance and used his spear to pierce through its body and then brought its body up and planting the spear deep into the ground. Taking a deep breath, Ajax was just waiting for one thing.

'ding'

Feeling the bits of energy entering his body, his body started to fill with strength and his thinking speed started to process a little faster. Since he was born with his previous memories, Ajax didn't really need to invest in intelligence from the start.

He looked down at his chest and noticed that he had already stopped bleeding. Wiping the blood off of his body, he looked at the situation with Jerry and Tim. He saw that they were handling themselves very easily with how easily Tim had adapted to Jerry's fighting style. Tim must've learned from fighting with Ajax of how he would stay near Jerry and protect him from any major damage and finishing off the beasts that Jerry couldn't kill right of the bat.

After about 10 minutes their battle was over. Jerry came out with no injuries, just exhausted by the energy he had expended. Tim however did not seem to be too tired and had no injuries.

"hmm, maybe this battle was a little too easy for you two" said Ajax.

Ajax quickly looked at their status.

"Although you guys did pretty well, Jerry, the way you fight... you may need to get used to your weapon a little more before we confront the mammoth tribe." continued Ajax.

" haha, yeah I think so too." replied Jerry scratching his head.

" We should find somewhere not far from here. After resting for a bit, I'll teach you Tim how to use your two swords." said Ajax.

Before they left, Ajax took the nightmare bear's body into his inventory system. After traveling for half an hour, they landed in an open spot, not far from the trees and near a small stream.

" Okay we'll rest here for now. Tim come here I'll show you how you should wield your two swords" said Ajax.

Ajax took the two swords and made the proper stance. With his dominant hand and sword, he raised it above him and behind his head with his legs far apart from him with his left leg forward. His left hand and sword was positioned across him making a blocking stance. He then took a step forward swinging down with a powerful force from his right sword and spinning with the left sword not far from behind. He then showed multiple ways to attack, using both weapons separately and together performing slashing and thrusting movements.

" attack me with one sword first, I'll show you how powerful this can be" said Ajax.

Nodding his head, Tim was getting excited as he saw movements he didn't understand but it looked really cool to him and really strong. With his intelligence level he could properly understand and learn these tactics quickly. He ran towards Ajax with full strength and attacked him.

Ajax easily took the swing and used the other sword to slash towards Tim. Seeing the other sword coming, he saw that he had no other choice but to jump back. When Tim jumped backwards, Ajax jumped forwards making a thrusting attack and by the time Tim had landed, the swords were already at his throat.

"Dead, try again" said Ajax.

This time, Tim ran and jumped high in the air and then slashed downwards creating a bigger impact when clashing. Using two swords, Ajax swung upwards making Tim bouncing backwards and Ajax swung around with two swords coming at Tim's side cutting him apart.

"Dead again, continue" said Ajax.

This continued on until Tim fell to his knees in exhaustion. He tried attacking in many ways to figure out how to bypass Ajax's stance but no matter what he used, he would always be deflecting off and dead in the next instance. Although it was similar to the past when Ajax trained him, this time, he felt the overwhelming power from Ajax's two swords and the speed that was shown. He was simply amazed by what he experienced.

After having Tim rest for a bit longer, Ajax then showed him another stance. It was a simple stance with him in a lowered position but had the two swords at his side. Seeing the stance, Tim felt that it was drastically different and looked a bit weaker than the previous stance.

As Tim ran towards Ajax he slashed downwards but before he knew it, Ajax was already right in front of him, with the two swords crossed together making an 'X' and was about to slash him apart. Tim quickly brought his sword in front of him and blocked the attack. As he blocked the attack, he was sent flying and by the time he landed on his feet, the two swords was at his neck making the same position and was ready to cut off his head.

"Dead" said Ajax.

" Again" said Tim. He wanted to know the difference between the two stances.

After another round of battling, he felt as though the battle was ending a little faster. This style although did not look to special, he found that the stance allowed Ajax to come up with better ways of attacking with two swords together and created more distance between the two people and the one being killed is always the other one. There were many instances when he would block the two swords but were blown away. When Ajax used only one sword, he would quickly follow up with the other sword quickly finishing off the opponent. Panting, Tim collapsed on the floor once again.

" Do you know the difference" said Ajax.

" The first stance was used for quickly dealing with opponents as well as defense. The second stance was used to overwhelm an opponent with greater strength with the use of of the two swords and then kill them when they are off guard" replied Tim with his body face up and panting hard.

"good Tim, after your evolution, your comprehension of things quickly went up" Said Ajax.

" Jerry, you just need to keep doing what you are doing. Whatever the situation that you are in, we got your back. Just go all out and wreck havoc" said Ajax.

Feeling the sense of warmth and brotherhood from Ajax, he felt happy and confidence knowing how strong the two are and will get, " Got it, thanks a lot Ajax, Tim" Jerry replied.

" Tomorrow we will hunt for food and the two of you will spar for the entire day, then we will continue. We are gonna kill of all the small branches of the bear tribe and then move onto the wolf tribe, and the next. We will take down all of their weaker forces and hopefully, we'll get some answers one way or another when their leaders confront us." explained Ajax.

As the night was ending, he took out the nightmare bear's corpse and took it apart. As he was taking apart a black ball came out of it corpse.

" Yes found it" said Ajax.

"Grill the meat and store some for me. I'm going to go somewhere and I'll be back in the morning." said Ajax.

"okay, will you be going far from here?" asked Tim.

" No, not too far." replied Ajax and left.
