New plans

Mark's evolved personality wasn't wrong about the psychological assumptions about Elena. He was correct to assume that she was fighting the demons inside her heart, because clearly, her falling in love with a guy that is twenty years younger than her, and especially at a time after her husband had sacrificed himself for her, is not quite the proudest thing that she can imagine.

The thing is, Mark was just digging on the surface of the truth. His assumption was correct indeed, however, there was a deeper lore to it…

Elena wasn't just fighting her own demons like Mark assumed, but was fighting the demons that Alissa had created inside her heart.

Elena had never been in love with Mark in the first place. It was Alissa's remnant of emotions that was left behind in Elena's heart after she had forcefully been kicked out of Elena's body. Even Mark's assumption was because of Alissa, because it was Alissa who had hinted Mark about Elena's feelings while she was in control of Elena's body.

'Why did I show feelings for him earlier?'

'Why was I trying to make him fall in love with me?'

'Why was I trying to get closer to him?'

'Why did I do any of that?'

'What is happening to me?'

'Why was I like that?'

'Is it true that love can make someone do stupid things unconsciously?'

Such were the thoughts that bothered Elena for an entire night. The entire night, she went without sleep, because she was confused and concerned about herself. She couldn't believe that her heart would betray her husband so easily, and didn't expect herself to fall for someone that gave her some slight attention when no one did. Truly, it was an unnatural occurrence that she had never expected to happen in the first place.

'Why does the heart have to be so mysterious, yet so evil…' Was her final thought, before she fell asleep from exhaustion.

The entire time she spent thinking, she was just blaming herself and her heart. Little did she know, that it is not herself that she should blame, but the wandering ghost Alissa.

Alas… The supernatural is not for the common human eyes to see. Elena couldn't know about the vile acts of Alissa who had violated her body, and only had herself to blame in the end.

Nonetheless, Elena wouldn't have to worry about the strange decisions of her heart, because apparently, even when she had stayed up for many hours, and even when she was under a lot of stress, Alissa still couldn't get inside her head somehow. Elena's resistance against Alissa's telekinetic attacks had grown beyond a level that Alissa could only hope to breach.

This meant only one thing for both victim and assailant...

Elena had become free from being the puppet of someone's desires, and could fix the mistakes that her unconscious self had made. She would no longer have to feel guilty about herself, and would no longer have to seek forgiveness from her passed husband. Her life was only going to become better…

Alissa however, her life wasn't becoming any better and better. Her plans were completely folded, and her bright future completely shattered. Both her and Elena had their own selfish desire, however, Alissa was the villain in such a story, because she had to risk it all for one.

Just like the role of a main villain, she was bound to be at the losing end. The only thing she could gain, is more losses. Nonetheless, even villains deserve a good ending. Alissa wanted that good ending.

That's why she had never given up from the start, and was never planning to, even with her situation currently being at the worst.

It was time… Time for her to come up with another brilliant plan of hers. Her main plan still had to progress, and she had to do something about it for it to progress.

*Sigh* "This will take a while…"

In the end, Alissa couldn't help letting out a sigh, because of how difficult the situation the she was in, is. In the end, she was only able to come up with one solution to fixing her main plan. That solution being, that she would have to make use of a bunch of bodies.

The solution is really not the brightest one, hence why, she could only sigh, and assume that it's certainly going to take a while.

As to why it is going to take a while… That's because it isn't going to be easy for her to impersonate different kinds of people, and because it's certainly not going to be easy for her to awaken Evan in such a way.

As for the reason why it won't be easy for her to awaken Evan… That's because it'll be difficult for Alissa to have Mark's heart spark the same romantic feelings that Evan had, with the amount of love interests.

'How would Mark ever feel love for someone, if there's too many love interests?' Was a thought of Alissa when she had stumbled upon the problems of her solution. But, that's when she realized, that it is completely possible.

'Isn't that the entire point! To find the one in the abundance of fishes in the sea?!' Was what she came to realize.

Such a realization of hers, opened a way to a brilliant idea for her. She was able to figure out that it would be best for Mark to experience the things that Evan had experienced with her, through many people. This way, he'll be reminded more and more of such events that Evan had with her, and as a result, Evan would be freed from his captive!

"Yes… Yes… And if Mark does fall in love with the one, I can still take over her body, because I'll be doing quantity over quality." Alissa muttered by herself, and couldn't help showing a bright smile right after, because of how happy she was at her own plans.

"My plans are definitely foolproof this time!"
