A dangerous confession
Under the red sky, there were two young people near the edge of a cliff, staring at the descending sun beyond the horizon of the sea...
A fire was already lit between the two, and even snacks such as marshmallows and coffee were already prepared...
The two young people were enjoying some kind of picnic. They circled the fire, took some sips of coffee, and in the process of doing that, they also stared at the setting sun beyond the horizon.
Perhaps if it was night, the mood between the two youngsters would've been even more romantic...
Beautiful stars would be visible in the dark night. Cold air would breeze through the two youngsters, which would bring them towards the warmth of the fire, and closer to each other...
Unfortunately, romance wasn't the purpose of those two youngsters. They were just friends, after all.
Or were they?
One thing's for sure, and that's that their friendship is likely to be one sided. One only saw the other as a friend, while the other saw one as an ideal partner.
What's strange however, is that those two have been going out together on many occasions.
Amusement parks, concerts, traveling abroad, and to make matters worse, is they even went to valentine themed events.
Those two were basically friends who act and look like a couple, but aren't a couple. The reason why, is because one of them had made quite the worst mistake in their earlier days.
Alissa was that person's name. A girl who had made it clear to the guy that she likes, that she's lesbian. Be as it may, she's in fact not lesbian...
She had never intended to make such a lie up in the first place. However, because she was afraid to approach and confess to the guy that she likes, her insecurities and lack of confidence made such a lie on accident.
Back then, when she had first approached the guy that she has a crush on, she felt beyond nervous. It was exactly because of that, and some other underlying factors, why her voice and body language went for a sudden change, when the guy showed her his curiosity.
She acted gay due to panicking, because she was afraid to reveal her feelings to the guy.
The reason why she was afraid to reveal her feelings to him, was because she was insecure about herself, and afraid of rejection. Hence why, as a result, she instinctively acted as if she is someone who is very comfortable around guys.
Sadly, her goal was beyond becoming comfortable around the guy.
A goal, which she had a hard time succeeding in, no matter the amount of times she met the guy over and over again.
In the beginning, when she was still in her earlier stages of living with her lie, she was happy that she was able to get closer with the guy. However, there was always a limit to that closeness...
Eventually, the more time passed, the more it became difficult for her to endure the discomfort of her own lie. The guy was genuinely starting to get comfortable with her lie, which made confessing her love for him much harder for her, because she had a second problem, which is her lie.
Weeks had become months, months had become years...
As their friendship deepened, Alissa knew that she had to do something in order to escape the trap that she had put herself into.
Starting from not too obvious dates, all the way to romantic places that definitely would have couples falling in love…
All that, but the guy wasn't able to catch a hint, just because of that one solid obstacle that she had made herself.
It's obvious why the guy wouldn't think of her in a romantic way. Other than some underlying factors, he might have seen the dates that she had suggested for him to go to along with her, as a way of her wanting to experience those places without having to be intimate.
Of course, he might have been quite curious to know why Alissa would often suggest for him and her to go out to such places for couples. But obviously, after the amount of years that they've been friends, he didn't want to show disrespect to her choice of sexuality. That's why he had never suggested the idea of being more than friends, or even questioned the fact if Alissa is really gay.
As a result, the relation between those two, are quite, complicated…
But Alissa has had enough of all the complicated stuff. She wanted to know the truth. She wanted a real romantic relationship. She wanted to get married. She wanted to have kids!
With such a resolve in mind, she decided that there will be no lies in between her and him anymore.
'Today is the day that I will come clean!' Was what she thought, determined.
"Hey… Uhm…"
Alissa felt how dry her mouth was, as she tried to utter out the truth. Even after all the years that has passed between her and him, she still has a hard time confessing to him.
Nonetheless, she wasn't planning to back away this time. She had enough!
"I like you!" She suddenly yelled out loud. She had broken through that wall that was holding her voice back, and as a result, she confessed her love for the guy out loud.
This sudden confession, left the guy surprised, and he didn't know how to handle such a sudden confession.
'Where did that come from?' he wondered. 'Where did it begin, and when did she start having feelings for me…?'
Such thoughts flooded his mind, as he was trying to find a way to reply to Alissa's sudden confession.
"But, aren't you lesbian?" The guy finally uttered, when he figured that it was best to ask such a concerning question first.
"I… I lied." Alissa finally revealed the truth. After so long, her burdens are finally out of her chest. This day might be her most fortunate day...
"So, you were never lesbian? And you had a crush on me from the moment we met?" The guy had to be sure, hence why his load of questions.
"Yes. I've liked you from the moment my eyes met you. And, I've deeply fallen in love with you after the time we've spent. I… I love you."
It was over. Alissa had finally revealed everything that she's been hiding from her crush. The truth is now out, and all that awaits, is the guy's answer to her confession.
"I… Uh… Wow. I did not expect that." The way the guy said his words, showed how surprised he is. Truly, this event is the greatest plot twist that he has ever experienced in his life…
"So… Do you… Like me too?" Alissa's face was a little fearful as she said those words of hers. Her eyes were squinted, and she was slightly looking away from the guy. It was as if she was afraid of getting hit by the guy, but in fact, she wasn't, and was actually afraid of the guy's next words.
"Yes! Of course! I mean… Maybe not so much in the beginning… But, do you know how much you've impacted my heart after those times that we've spent together? I've fallen in love with you, yet, I couldn't make a move because of your sexuality, which honestly, saddened me." The guy went on to confess his hidden feelings as well.
"Really?" Alissa questioned, looking at the guy with uncertainty, unsure if in front of her was reality or just a dream.
"Yes, Alissa." The guy answered with a lot of resolve apparent in his voice. To show his resolve, he even stood up from his seat in order to make his way closer to Alissa.
Alissa, she stood up from her seat as well, expectant for the next move that her crush is going to make. Is it going to be a fulfilling wish, or is it going to a nightmare that she did not expect?
*Screech*
All of a sudden, the sound of a car abruptly braking, was heard.
A sports car, which failed to do a perfect turn with its insane speed, drifted itself outside of the road, as it spun without balance towards the edge of a cliff. This is cliff of course, is the cliff that the young couple were standing on.
The couple, thus became the victim to the unruly car. They were both hit by the side of the car, and as a result, were greatly injured.
They would've made it alive with their injury of course, but that is if the driver didn't leave them stranding.
As hours passed, not even a single car passed by. The two were left alone, and it surely left the two with a lot of regret.
Just when they're lives could've gotten better, they had to suffer, and slowly die. It is a shame for sure, which they couldn't do anything against.
Coughing out blood, unable to say a thing to each other, they both wondered…
"Is it all really going to end, just like this?"
It did end just like that. However, an ending doesn't need to be an ending every time. Sometimes, it can be an entirely new beginning to a different story. A story where these two will live their love lives as wondering souls…
Or will they?
Perhaps, things are going to be even more complicated…
