Chapter 5 - Getting Ready

Alice's POV

I took a bath and came out to see that the stylist has prepared the outfits, the accessories and everything needed for me to get ready for the evening.

The outfit they prepared was an long silver shimmery gown with a slit on the right side of the gown which made me look innocent and sexy at the same time as I wore it, a look perfect for the evening.

I wore the outfit and sat on a chair to let the makeup artist and hair stylist do my makeup and hair then I decided to think through everything so that I won't be in a confusion any longer and just as I concluded to never make the same mistakes and make it up for my sister for everything that I did all these years, the makeup was also complete and as I looked into the mirror I noticed that the make up was simple and elegant which enhanced my face more and my hair was let to set as soft curls.

By the time the final touches were over it was time for the party to start and decided to go down hoping nothing would go wrong throughout but not before sending a text to my sister requesting to attend the ball and not ditch.

Raine's POV

After waking up from my sleep I decided to go home and ditch the event as I didnt want to enter the room when I am not sure about my sister's sudden change but went against it when a text from my sister came requesting to come which was a shock as she never requests for anything but just orders, so I decided to get ready and go.

I quickly took a shower and started drying my hair. I wore a gown which was prepared by my boyfriend just incase i decided to attend the ball as he knows I would try to ditch the ball, it was beautiful dark blue dress which had a galaxy theme added to it making people be mesmerized with its design and think of the galaxy itself.

After helping myself in the gown I started doing my own makeup and hair as it was something I did not have any interest to put any efforts.

Just as I was done getting ready I got a call from my mom shouting, "Where the hell are you, its such a big event to your sister and you are late".

"I will be there in 5" was my response before I cut the call and I looked into the mirror one last time before heading down to face whatever this evening has in store for me.

I entered the ballroom taking a deep breath only to see my so called entire family talking to each other with huge smiles on their faces as if I am not even a part of their family which hurt and brought tears to my eyes despite all these years of the same treatment.

I came back to my senses quickly and masked my emotions before anyone could notice it and choose to sit somewhere no one can notice me.

I sat down at one corner and started observing everyone around me and saw my sister looking for someone and suddenly she locked her eyes to mine and she spoke to a waiter near her and told him to ask me to join the family which I obliged not wanting to create a scene not that I minded the drama but just because I was not in the mood for it.

I stood with my family as my sister wanted and started greeting people around me as 'required' of me according to my mother and it was soon time for the event to start. My father gave a speech introducing Alice as the hieress of the Smith Enterprises and raised a toast to everyone and the event officially began with everyone socializing with each other.
