Chapter 18

Ka-Boom!

As if woken up by an alarm clock, when Leonardo woke up and looked out through Clark's eyes. All he saw was flames and the wreckage of the truck. Clearly the truck exploded with Clark behind the wheel, but how and why he didn't know nor did Clark.

'What happened?' Leonardo asked.

'I don't know.' Clark said as he stepped out of the truck and began to look around.

'Clark, there is a guy over on the hill up the road a bit.' Leonardo spotted a small reflection of light there.

Noticing it too, Clark originally wanted to ignore it, but since Leonardo pointed it out. He sped over where he found a balding man with a camera pointed at the farm, a sound receiver and remote detonation in hand. Grumbling, he tapped the man's head, before going to work cleaning up the evidence of him being in the explosion.

'This guy is a reporter.' Clark's eyes widened upon seeing a badge.

'Since I doubt he did this stunt by following traces since you and I have been careful when saving or solving problems for months. Someone must have hired him and had him investigating us. For why he blew up the truck or not, I don't know, but now it is time to begin cleaning up the evidence and getting this guy arrested or thrown in the psych ward.' Leonardo said.

After making sure that this guy didn't have anything left on him, Clark had Jonathan call the sheriff. Where they explained that the man blew up their truck and they don't know why. Only when Clark was coming back where he noticed the car on the side of the road and realized the man had a remote in his hand.

"Son, I don't mean to be a downer, but since our truck is out of commission, how are you going to pick up Chloe?" Jonathan asked.

"I haven't thought of that." Clark sighed.

'Just have her drive instead.' Leonardo yawned as he suggested this.

'I hope she will understand.' Clark sighed. 'Is it time for the next sleep already?'

'Clark, you are entering puberty and your body is changing while your abilities are rising quickly.' Leonardo yawned again. 'It's just that this sleep came faster than I thought it would.'

"Clark?" Jonathan waved his hand in front of Clark's eyes.

"Oh, I will see if Chloe will be fine driving. It's a bit backwards, but it can't be helped." Clark said.

--

'Your tuxedos really don't suit you, Clark. It seems oversized.' Leonardo said as Clark stood before a mirror.

'I think so too.' Clark had to agree. 'However, I was told this was my size.'

'The suit makes you overweight instead of being fit or muscular.' Leonardo said as moved Clark's arms to rub his missing beer gut the suit gave him. 'Oh, that gives me an idea.'

Moving around the room quickly as he combed back hair and throwing on a pair of fake glasses. Leonardo slouched his shoulders a bit while giving a smile in the mirror.

'Clark Kent, the slightly clumsy and geeky man.' Leonardo said before he rapidly changed into a blue t-shirt and jeans. 'Now, unknown hero.'

Clark rolled his eyes as he rapidly changed back into the suit. 'Haha, now stop messing around Leo.'

'Well, it would work better with a superhero suit,' Leonardo joked. "Anyways, have some fun tonight as I am going to rest.'

'You don't want to see Chloe in her dress?' Clark asked.

'As fun as it is for two to try to make sparks fly when there isn't any, no not really. Chloe is your friend Clark and for romance I don't see it nor do your feelings.' Leonardo said.

'I have feelings for Lana, but you say sparks don't fly either.' Clark retorted. 'Besides, you always say I need to go out more.'

'Clark, I have been thinking recently. Is it that you developed genuine feelings for her or mistaken the effects of kryptonite for love before you knew about kryptonite?' Leonardo asked.

'You seem to have a lot of ideas for my love life? Then who do you see me with?' Clark grumbled a bit angrily, but still thought about it.

'Someone who is driven, smart, resourceful and doesn't dangle bait for other men while dating someone.' Leonardo replied. 'Which is what Lana has done to you while she is with Whitney and once you got her, what stops her from turning you into another Whitney?'

'I don't think I know anyone like that?' Clark said, ignoring the second part.

'No, which is why you need to meet more people and have fun, Clark.' Leonardo stated. 'Now I am off to sleep for a while. Have fun and if the chance presents itself, collect a bra or two.'

"Leo!" Clark roared annoyed and a bit embarrassed.

Downstairs, Jonathan who was working on a part at the dining table glanced up at his wife. A small smirk on his lips as she shook her head.

"Leo really likes driving Clark up the walls lately." Jonathan said. "Probably something about women again."

"I fear the day he convinces Clark or gets his own body. It wouldn't be surprising to see a line of women coming and going from the house." Martha sighed.

"Yes, but as much as I feel slightly disappointed in saying this. He has been a good influence on Clark, even if he keeps trying to tempt him with lustful desire." Jonathan sighed. "Clark has been less moody lately when Leonardo is awake at least."

"I agree, but lately it seems he is preparing to go to sleep again. Left a few more manuscripts for me to publish, fixed up most of the farm and our equipment, and left notes on how to handle A.I. Jor-El if he wants to begin Clark's training." Martha sighed.

"Yeah and I'm worried about this training. What happens if this computer takes away our son?" Jonathan replied.

Martha mirrored his worried expression. "Leonardo said this is Jor-El's gift for Clark to not only improve his survival, but in hopes of curving the possible inflated ego he may have due to his abilities. From Leonardo's words, as strong as kryptonians are, they aren't gods nor should they try to play it."

Jonathan nodded as he completely agreed with those words. He is just worried about his son who will take on these tasks that without a doubt contain a lot of pain and doubts. However, he also knew that everyone faces these things in their life, but Clark's will be several levels higher.

--

While Leonardo originally planned to sleep, when it came time for Chloe to pick Clark up. He did take a peek at her pink dress. He found she did look slightly pretty, but dresses really didn't suit her at this age. Her usually more punkish look seemed to fit her more than this.

Leonardo also noticed during this time, there wasn't a wind storm, so the chances of a tornado appearing were slim in opinion. So Clark will be able to spend the evening with Chloe and not have to run out.

Another difference was that upon arriving at the school, they learned that Pete got stood up by his date. From the african american boy, he was too good for her, while the truth she found him too flirty with others. Since Pete seemed to have to take on the playboy role of Bruce Wayne, just without the looks, charisma or money to pull it off. Hence the guy got a few sympathy dances from a few girls.

Overall, Clark seemed to be having fun and acting like a normal teenager that isn't broody over his lack of attention from his crush. The crush that didn't appear at the dance due to dropping her soon to be ex-boyfriend off at the bus stop, for Whitney decided to join the military. Which seemed kind of a sad truth to be told, as he probably hoped that Lana would wait for him. Sadly he didn't know she already planned to move on and already had a few targets in mind..
