The east side of the country wasn't very big but it was quite civilized and due to that, news spread very fast.
The latest news that got everyone on the lookout was the news about demons terrorizing humans. Historians say it's "history repeating itself". Sources say demons are truly living amongst us but they hadn't ever made a move. They coexisted with the humans peacefully. But...
One night in a village deep in the rural areas, girl claims to have seen a wildebeest standing on two legs instead of four, with bright red eyes and bulging veins on muscular arms –of a man. Girl says it looked like a monster with the body of a man and the horns and legs of a wildebeest, girl also claims that it attacked her. "It is only by God's goodness I'm still alive, that monster was scary, it was fast, it was strong, I have never seen anything like it before. How I outran it is still a mystery ". Girl says.
Once the news got out, it left many people in fear but it left even more people in shock and disbelief, many thought it was just some fake news and a complete waste of time just to get the public all anxious.
Comments read:
" who would believe this crap?! "
" The girl is obviously crazy ".
Many other comments in the same vein followed. But this "crazy girl's" words were proven to be truthful, confirmed by other villagers who claimed to have been attacked by other beasts—many of them looked alike.
"the monsters wrecked our village and abducted some men, my husband being among". A lady said amidst tears.
Now the real question is"could those "monsters" actually be demons in their true form?" The police was doing some deep investigations on that but the thing was this; demons don't really have any specific detail, none that they know of though. Researchers say demons could appear like humans, no difference at all but they could have other forms apart from their human form, this form they use to scare people and get what they want. It appears money is not what they were after but people. If this hunch was true, then the humans would be in deep, deep trouble.

The assembly hall.
All the students were finally seated and composed.
A light—skin black lady wearing a knee—length red dress, a black jacket and heels (a kind of footwear) walked up to the stage and was now looking at the students. Her gaze was sharp, cold, emotionless. She looked quite powerful, from a student's perspective, scary and no student dared to make a sound, not with those scary eyes on them. She was Mrs Stanley, the strict principal or as students call her, miss Stan.
Miss Stan started by clearing her throat by coughing a little, people tend to do that to gain attention from the group of people he or she wants to talk to.
"Welcome back, students. I hope you enjoyed the holidays". Her voice was calm and loud and firm. She continued "I believe you all have heard the latest news. There are demons amongst us and we cannot just go around to take the DNAs of every citizen in Belmont.
I've spoken with some government officials, our meeting was supposed to be confidential until further notice then It'll be made public but I don't care, I'll tell you about it anyway. The government plans to raise young growing children—you children to become demon exorcists. As we have all heard, demons have breached our world and I'm sure their last visit would not be their last."
Miss Stan continued.
"what I really want to say is this, the school will begin a training program for you guys tier by tier. There are five tiers and right now you're all in tier none. The students strong enough to get to tier 5 will be promoted to the national school of demon exorcists (NSDE). Blah blah blah, I'm tired of talking, your teachers will explain better. Good morning, students."
Principal Stan had never been a talkative. She had always tried to be brief but today's announcements needed careful explanations that was why she talked much.
While she was talking, Creston's heart raced. He was a demon too.
That was the end of the announcements, the students returned to their classes.
Creston was in the 8th grade, class 1, class of the elites. Creston was was an inborn elite though he never thought about it much, he was actually pretty smart—no, very smart. Class 1 was for extremely smart. For Levi, being the valedictorian of class 1 was as good and bad as being the valedictorian of the entire grade 8.
Though just twelve, Creston and Levi were quite mature and responsible and adored by many.
In class.
Every student was still trying to digest what they were told in the assembly hall.
They were going to undergo training to become demon exorcists?! No one was as confused as Creston, he just sat there, deep in thoughts. Levi came and sat by his side, he noticed his friend was in a daze so he snapped his fingers twice in front of Creston's face, "hello, Creston?". Creston came back to reality.
"Huh, what is it?"
"what are you thinking about, Creston?"
Creston didn't answer immediately, he gave Levi a cold, confused stare and said in a hushed tone, "What am I thinking? Levi, I'm a demon too, I can't fight my own kind, it's dumb..." Creston realized the stupidity in his words, humans fight each other all the time, fighting his own kind wouldn't be a new thing. He kept quiet trying to decipher what he just said, Levi raised a brow, "Then your kind will fight us. Look Creston, demons are very powerful, one day they could just come and destroy us all, our only advantage against them is our number, yes, we outnumber those demons and that is why the government put in effort to train us, we are going to fight for humanity."
The only thing wrong with what Levi just said is his pose, while saying such a nice speech, one should raise a fist up, that would make the speech really hearty.
"Wow, what a speech," Creston clapped his hands and gave Levi a thumbs up"motivational speaker, I am motivated". Creston rolled his eyes.
The class was quite rowdy. No matter how mature class 1 students tend to behave, 8th graders will be 8th graders, some were talking and laughing, some were having breakfast in class and some were even doing the previous homework. Not Creston though, he wasn't made saludatorian for nothing, he was a good student but definitely not the teachers pet, he was just cool.
After about five minutes of confusion and noise, the teacher finally entered the class.
"Good morning, students".
The class went mute.
