Seichirou looked at him with displease. His lips kept twitching as if he wanted to badly hurl abuse towards him.
His hands, which rested on the armrest, were restless. He must be itching to strangle his neck right now.
Ren chuckled awkwardly. He first put Tabby on the sofa outside the president's office. Then, brazenly, he went inside to return the borrowed keys.
From the beginning to the ending, Seichirou had unblinkingly stared at him with visible anger on his face. Looking at his twitching brows and pursing lips made him want to tease him back. Considering the consequence of his action later, he dismisses the thought immediately.
There's a stagnant silence inside the office room. Both unyieldingly engaged in staring contests. No one was willing to back down, nor did no one want to break the silence. They said nothing. However, the pair of glaring eyes of Seichirou had transmitted many unspoken words at the uncaring Ren.
A harsh, exasperated sigh came out from the president's mouth. Along with that, his palms slammed the wooden, glossy table, causing it to move slightly. A shriek was produced due to the collision of the table's legs and the marble floor.
Ren cringed uncomfortably at the unpleasant sound.
"You...why did you burn away the forest?" Seichirou finally uttered something. He gritted his teeth, and the vein on his forehead and neck was bulging. He must be restraining his anger which gradually became intolerable. "At least give me a reminder or warning before you do something as unimaginable as that! Arson is not a minor crime!"
"..." Ren subtly evaded Seichirou's burning gazes as his lips tightly shut, still saying nothing.
"...You...jerk! Stop ignoring me and say something!" Seeing his manner had made Seichirou's heart ignite with a fiery fire of anger. Right now, there are so many choices of terrible words he wanted to say right in front of this person.
Seichirou is never the type who likes to curse someone straight to their faces. He preferred to say some derogatory remarks while implicitly hinting those people of his concealed anger.
Perhaps, he didn't expect Ren to be so bold.
Unfortunately, he had spat out his every word while gnashing his teeth and accompanied by powerful enunciation, which very much showed his raging temper.
Seichirou's arms hug his own body, and his posture is far too rigid. The vein on his forehead vividly showed out, expressing his hidden fury.
Although he is looking up, with stiff smile grazing on his face, the condescending look within his eyes couldn't be concealed anymore.
He is too angry that he feels stuffy and speechless.
There are still too many words that he wished to say aloud. Nonetheless, he decided to minimize the severity of the situation by only speaking about the crucial issue. Or, who knows what will happen if his temper gets the better of him.
Alright, inhale. And exhale. Repeat these two actions multiple times until you're calming down.
It's supposed to work. Yeah, it's working! He is indeed cooling down. As if someone doused him with a bucket of cold water. However. Yes, however. Soon as he lifted his head and their eyes met again, the anger that had died down had escalated!
That damn brat! He looked at him with a pair of innocent-looking eyes, seemed naive and gullible. Yet both knew that Ren didn't feel any remorse at all!
Look at that! Look at that smirk on his face! He didn't even bother to hide it!
That guy dares to blink his eyes innocently. He also said nothing at his defense, presumed silence through and through. It's still better than he says something dishonest that would incur his wrath. But to his discontent, neither does Ren has uttered any words of repentant!
"If I am not making a mistake in my memory before you ran off, you clearly said you would only be gone for ten minutes. But you actually stayed in there for almost an hour! An hour! What a shameless liar!" Seichirou almost flipped the table in rage. Fortunately, the table is heavy, and even for him, the weight is unbearable and impossible to flip up.
He reckoned that this guy was born to infuriate him to death! Not only did he make a huge mess that required some troublesome strings to be pulled out here and there, this guy shamelessly looked at him without any hint of guilt! He seemed eager to push the blame on him instead.
You see, to set the forest aflame is not a meager issue. Even someone like Seichirou with strong background couldn't help but feel helpless.
Furthermore, that forest is private property, owned by an unknown wealthy conglomerate that not even his father dared to mess with! How should he resolve this issue? With what authority? Would his family get sued by the owner since he had put the guardianship of the mountain to them?
"Say something, damn it!" Seichirou angrily roared.
Ren tried his hardest to not laugh at this time. Instead, he hurriedly said sorry.
"Uuh...sorry?" Ren's eyelashes blinked multiple times. He seemed amused as he received the president's outburst head-on. The mouth is muttering an apology, yet his action says otherwise. And, he beamed with pride at the trouble he left behind!
"Don't apologize when you're not sincere in your repentance!" Seichirou angrily reprimanded him. "Look at the trouble you created. I..." Seichirou touched the back of his neck. He felt that the blood pressure inside his body had risen. "If we got sued later, you will pay it!"
"Of course, just send me the bill. I doubted you would get sued, though."
"Why? How should you know that? Do you own the mountain?"
"Precisely."
"...What?"
Ren smugly folded his arms.
"That Dark Forest belongs to Hazama Family."
"..." Seriously?
"I'm not joking. You can ask your grandfather." Ren earnestly said.
"...Even so, you cannot act unbridled like that! What will you do if the fire becomes uncontrollable and spreading towards the school?" Seichirou's tone had actually become milder once he knew the truth. Thank goodness.
"Ah, don't worry about that. As long as the steel gate stood strong across the mountain, no harm should befall to this side. Unless you are the one who stupidly crossed over the safety boundary we created. When you do that, not even me could help preserve neither guarantee your life." Ren nonchalantly replied. "All is well, right? Don't be too angry. It doesn't suit you, president."
"Who's fault is that I had a hard time controlling my anger?!" Seichirou rebuked him.
"Fine. I already say sorry. Don't mention it again."
Seichirou slumped his back onto the backrest. The tense atmosphere had finally dissipated.
"You still owe me an explanation. Don't forget."
Ren pouted his lips and mumbled something under his breath.
"...Tsk. What kind of a lie should I weave? Will he believe me if I say..."
"Go back to your class first, dimwit. I am going to drag you out and meet my grandfather."
Ren incredulously stared at him.
"Why should I see your grandfather?!"
"I better bring out the assailant forward and let him explain everything to that old man. Lest I get punished for something, which I didn't even do. Don't try to run away."
Ren rolled his eyes.
