Chapter 68

Nicholas POV

Her voice echoed in the room making Nicholas tremble. His arm held firm on the desk as he almost fall off the chair. Despite his being blind, he felt her eyes narrow at him. He could feel her resentful energy, like a burning furnace. 

Suddenly, everywhere was quiet, making Nicholas somehow guess that Jessica must be feeling embarrassed for raising her voice, which may have made the bibliophile present look at her sternly. He tried to break the pregnant silence, but he found no words. He felt silly by the way she yelled at him, but then-

"I'm sorry for that. I shouldn't have felt sorry for her, and she kills people too." She apologized. Nicholas sighed, listening to the sounds of the chairs as Jessica adjusted them to sit. 

There was something about her, he couldn't understand why she got herself all worked up for a mere character in a book.
