A Supposed Childhood Days

A calm place, far from the ways the city people do live, a family whose life patterned to the second primitive folk's tradition of life. Bobby was the youngest of seven children. He was a playful boy but his eagerness to play was never satisfied for he must follow his father's domineering errands. They live in a far uncivilized village where root crops and vine vegetables are the staple food. Daily struggles on finding what would be in for stomach satisfaction. His childhood has been terribly occupied by earning a livelihood, carrying heavy stuff, climbing a tall coconut trees and jack fruit for viand. These had made bobby physical built masculine and healthy. Likewise, his decision making at an early age been comparatively matured.

FORMAL EDUCATION

At the age of seven, the stage for his formal education. He was sent to the nearest town, a twenty seven kilometers away from his native village, where he began his formal education. Bobby's experience in the village became useful for he was left alone in the town living in a small nipa hut built by his father for bobby's hiding place against the rain and the coldness of the night. Excitement is in his inner self every end of the week for he knew this will be the day where he could go home and hug his loving mother and be reunited with the other siblings. Sunday will be his day to go back in town for his studies. This routine had lasted after twelve years when he graduated on the top ten among the high school graduates.

THE FINAL CHOICE OF CAREER

Influenced by classmates who were all bound to college studies, bobby was likewise determined to pursue college no matter what. At his dismay when his father told him that he could no longer continue in college for financial reason. Bobby as he saw the situation did not insist nor he did not feel any resentment towards his father. He glanced at her mother who was silently slamp in a corner

of bamboo floored dwellings. The silence was broken with bobby's suggestion that he will try his luck in the big city. His parent did not go further arguments. He left the village and determined to find his job in the city. Finally, in his determination, he was considered in a college as a working student having to receive a meager allowance weekly but of free college studies in the evening.

THE TURNING POINT

A significant day in April of 1989 Bobby March in his Commencement Rites. He graduated with Academic Distinction. His parents were there too as his equally proud of the blessings. Bobby graduated with the degree in Bachelor of Science in Education.

FIRST JOB

As a fresh graduate, he immediately hand in application papers to prospective employers. He said in himself that whoever replied first shall be his first employer. It wasn't easy for him get the first teaching job. He was called by the schools he applied for, yet he was subjected to interviews, written examinations and actual teaching demonstrations. Finally, few days before the opening of the school year, one of the colleges in Legaspi city had communicated him to report for briefing about the subject loads assigned him. There he taught for four uninterrupted years.

THE MODERN PRODIGAL SON

After gaining teaching experience, Bobby became aggressive. He ventured in big University in Manila. He was never a failure. He was immediately taken in after series of tests given him. Bobby became a pretty good earner as a college instructor in a reputable university. As the days go by, he became allured of the city life, became busy with friends, a weekly travel to tourist destinations that made him forgot his parents in the village. Bob's life turned materialistic that went strong for several years. Without knowing that his mother is now severely sicked. Her mother prayed that his son Bobby be terminated from job and remember his family after. Soon, economy became stiff and ended into massive retreanchment of employees. Bobby was one among the slashed employees. Having caught of the surprised separation from job, Bobby had no savings left. This time he remembered hos parents in the village, the people to extend little help whenever he needed help the most.

THE REUNION

Having no job in the city, bobby went home..as he was approaching their simple dwelling he was barked by the dog that made his mother's attention on him. She managed to walked to meet her long lost son, embraced him and cried both in longingness. Bob sighed, "mama I left all of you with nothing and now I am back with nothing. Forgive me for being a greedy son". Mother replied "my son, your presence is enough, I don't need anything else".

A NEW LIFE

Bob's parents are both departed. His siblings are now all having their independent families. Bob is now a public school teacher. He started a clean living having in mind his lessons of valuing family. Yet he remains single up to his nearing retirement in teaching profession.
