Chapter 7

Sasha bit his lip, trying not to smile.

Daniel was very sweet. It was hard not to be swayed by someone who clearly thought a lot of him.

The cab stopped at Jamal’s place, and they all got out to help slide Daniel off of the backseat and onto the side-walk. Ryan and Jamal propped him up between them.

“You’ll be okay?” Jamal asked Sasha. He leaned down a little to peer through the window as Sasha got back into the cab.

“Yes, all good,” Sasha said, settling into his seat. “Hope to see you again before I leave.”

“Let’s have brunch!” Ryan called.

Jamal nodded. “Yeah, we like brunch.”

“That would be great.” Sasha waved goodbye through the window as his car drove away.

Going back home to his empty apartment didn’t feel quite as bad tonight. Sasha was too drunk to shower, so he tossed off his clothes and got into bed. He hugged his pillow tight as he closed his eyes and smiled, thinking of Daniel’s drunken happy dancing.
