CHAPTER NINETEEN

I woke up to the smell of roses. I got up and looked around, I was surrounded by baskets of roses. I turned and looked at Mimi, who was smiling.

"You've really made my brother a better person. I can't thank you enough. Who would have thought that the famous Jayden Leti would give a girl roses?" She said picking one rose from my bed and inhaling the scent.

So Jayden did this. I smiled as looked at her. As an afterthought, I frowned,

"Are you sure you're okay with us dating? You know you told me stay away from him but here I am dating him. I swear it just happened…"

"Come in Aly," she said cutting me off.

"I didn't want you to be one of those girls he uses and dumps. You have a very special place in my heart. I realize that he actually cares for you which is something he has never been capable of doing since his mother died but here we are. Infact, you have tamed the lion." We both burst into laughter.

Mimi went into the bathroom and came out shortly. She said she had errands to run and so left. I picked my phone and saw a text from Jayden.

'A rose for Everytime I've been a jerk to you. My own way of apologizing. Respond by granting me the privilege of taking you out for lunch today.'

I blushed like hell. My phone rang suddenly. It was Kyle. We haven't talked since the wedding and he has been kind of avoiding me. I picked on the fourth ring.

"Alyssa. It's Kyle." Heck yeah, I know he is the one.

"I know."

"Sorry, I thought you would have deleted my number."

"I need to talk to you. It is kinda serious. Please." He added.

"I have plans. And they can't be cancelled." I told him.

"Find a way Aly. Please. I really need to see you."

"The park. 11. Don't waste my time. I have plans like I said."

"Thank you. I'd be there." I hung up.

So the plan was to see Kyle and hear what he has to say and then go for lunch with Jayden. I texted Jayden to pick me up by 12. And he replied with a dancing GIF. I don't even know who I am dating anymore.

I looked at the time and it was past ten. I headed to the bathroom to freshen up and finally took an Uber to the park when I was done. It was exactly 11 when I got there. I walked to the swing side and found lots of children playing and roaming around beaming with smiles and cheerfulness. I thought about what it would be like to have a child of my own. I smiled bitterly. In that instant, I saw Kyle. He walked towards me.

"Thanks for seeing me. I promise I'd be quick." He told me. We searched for a place to sit and when we found one, he began.

"I know I have been a jerk lately. And saying I wanted to protect you from Jayden was a mistake and I know this is not a relevant excuse but I am sorry." He said holding my hands.

I only looked at him starring at his hands on mine.

"I got you a gift." He brought out a box from his pocket. He opened it. It was a bracelet. H looked at me for permission to put it on my wrist. I nodded and gave him my hand.

"It's beautiful." I complemented touching it. It had pretty silver stones on it that seemed to shine under the sunlight.

"Listen Kyle, you're my best friend and probably the only one aside Jasmine and Ben that knows about my situation. I want you to be happy for me. I want you to be happy that I am happy. I want you to support me and tell me that I am doing the right thing. You are very important to me and I can't do this without you. You and Jasmine are my strength. I want you to be happy for me." I told him while fighting the tears that seem endless.

He hugged me and I sobbed.

"Do you know what fixes everything?" He asked and I smiled.

"Ice cream." We both said in unison and laughed.

We strolled down to go get ice cream. I got vanilla flavour and as usual Kyle got chocolate. We walked around the park and gisted along the way. Kyle suddenly stopped and I stopped also. I was about asking him why he stopped walking when I suddenly felt his lips on mine.

Kyle was kissing me. I was dumbfounded and in shock. My best friend has feelings for me. I couldn't process exactly what was going on until I heard a voice. Jayden's.

"Alyssa! What on earth is going on here?" He looked angry. Scrap that. He was angry.

"I can explain. I swear it is not what it seems like. I do not even know what is going on. Kyle ...." I turned and Kyle was no longer there.

"Let's go." He dragged me to his car. I was crying at this point.

I got into the car and I was crying as he started the engine.

"You stood me up because of that jerk. I was worried sick about you and you were here, kissing that low life. Really? I thought you were better than that. I thought you were the one to rid me of my demons Alyssa." He yelled.

"I can explain. I didn't realize that the time has gone far. I don't know..." I sobbed.

"Just shut the fuck up!" He screamed and he was moving at extra speed.

"Jayden please park the car let's talk. You're over speeding...."

Suddenly, there was a crash and then blackout. I didn't know what happened next.
